I think the Studios is secretly getting a rebrand right now, marking the Minions expansion as the beginning. I have some of my own thoughts of what could happen years from now.

New York: Easily the best area to expand the park, since some of the soundstages are next it that could be used for future attractions like the Secret Life of Pets. However this would they would have to find some new house locations for others during HHN.

Behind Hogwarts Express: Universal’s office building will be relocated soon at Epic Universe, making more room for park expansions like a new theme area or even more Potter. This could be a good opportunity to do a better themed hotel than Disney’s Stars Wars hotel at Hollywood Studios.

World Expo: Men In Black stays cause of Spielberg like ET at Kidzone, but Fear Factor has yet to be replace by the Potter expansion.

Springfield: Hard to tell what will be replace once the contract expires at the end of the decade. As much I’d love to see the Back to the Future ride as a grand return, but it’s not marketable in today’s era, since the franchise ended with dignity and decency years ago. They could tear everything down for an immersive Pokémon theme area.

Hard as it is to believe, those soundstages still get used for productions.

The office buildings behind Potter and Supercharged aren't going anywhere. They're important to employees. Trust me. I work there.

Indeed, those backstage buildings are quite essential.

What if we saw Godzilla replace supercharged? It’s a very popular IP that would need almost no restructuring of the surrounding land, as the 2014 Godzilla film’s finale took place in San Francisco. I could see a Godzilla ride that combines Jurassic World from Beijing with Kongfrontation. The ride vehicles could be San Francisco cable-cars, (scaled down for a more compact layout), and you’re boarding them to evacuate the city during Godzilla’s rampage. Have several domed screens interwoven with detailed, practical city streets. These screens would be necessary, as this space lacks the size or technology to show Godzilla’s entire body and atomic breath in the form of practical effects. Maybe have a CGI Godzilla on a screen blast his atomic breath, which is then followed by a physical burst of fire/smoke, almost like what we see in Spider-Man.

Have a few sections taking inspiration from Earthquake with your surroundings crumbling, and a finale with a scale, Godzilla animatronic. This animatronic would only show his head and chest, however, to accommodate for space. Perhaps he picks you up like Kong used to, roars at you, and you begin to see and feel the heat of his atomic breath as his throat begins to glow blue, but at the last minute, he’s distracted by a helicopter and drops you before you’re blasted.

Very far-fetched, but an attraction using screens to add depth and scale that the space lacks along with a single, impressive figure may be compact enough to fit in this current building. Plus, the merch sales would be through the roof

Was there ever any merit to the rumor of Universal slowly buying out the land they used to own off Vineland, where the apartment complex that butts up against their property line sits? I had heard that complex was not renewing leases, but that was many moons ago (before COVID).

That would be crazy if true...I'm sure Universal would love that land back

That would be massive, could either become a massive immersive land or more hotels. Endless options.

I don't necessarily agree with the idea of "recreating" scenes from past attractions, but the overall ride concept is, obviously, one I would be entirely in favor of.

Ya I saw that video, he made it seem like there was very little chance it was happening. I disagree with some of his specifics, (no way its replacing Kid Zone), but the idea of Universal doing their take on the Great Movie Ride is both a good idea and definitely possible.

My prediction is it will replace the Simpsons/Springfield, maybe opening around 2030, and will not feature any 3rd party IP. The focus will be less classic attractions and more history of the studio. Make the ride vehicle a DeLorean, and travel back in time to major events in Universal Studios history.

I would argue that I would rather see the Studios answer to Hagrids...but less intense and more of an Intamin Family Design

Universal's Great Movie Coaster sounds a bit more compelling to me personally

I dig this. But what ride system should it use? I imagine that the Simpsons show building is being torn down when it closes. And this would be for both Florida and Hollywood?

I highly doubt they would retrofit a retrofit of what would be a nearly 40 year old ride system. As mentioned, an Intamin multi launch coaster would make sense, as that's a proven technology on a similar storyline. My wish is for Universal to create their own version of Test Track, although that would likely be very expensive. Either way I think that Simpsons ride building is highly likely to meet the wrecking ball after 28

That's a cool little ride for what it is, and imagining it with a budget multiple times higher, with BIG sets and AAs, and with Universal IP... I can see the potential.

Still, I'd generally prefer more of a dark ride with some coaster influence (like an 88mph launch for a BTTF scene). With a full coaster, we're kind of stuck with a ride 2 - 3 minutes long, and I'd much rather have something in the 7 - 10 minute range. And that ideally also involves water for a JAWS segment.

We don’t need ANOTHER launch coaster. Just go with a simple omni.

An omnimover... would be a rather cheap build compared to something else. Take the detail of the tribute stores/HHN houses and have it surround an omnimover.

Start off with classic westerns, transition over to classic monsters, move on to BTTF, Kong, etc. I would flatter Comcast executives by having the finale or one scene dedicated to whatever IP is relevant and has a new movie by utilizing screens.

I am all for razing KidZone for a “Legacy Studio” area featuring E.T., Animal Actors, a brand new Great Movie style dark ride, and maybe even a light retheme of the Woody coaster (or kept the same, Woody’s a legacy character too.) With just those things it will already be a better family area than KidZone ever was. There’s no need to dumb down what should be family experiences for everyone.

That sounds nice and all but who is building 10 minute attractions anymore ?

I would love for Disney to take a chance on one and even Universal attempt something.
