For one thing, Marty was not in the ride, and another couldn’t they just CGI the characters anyway?

Despite my aforementioned BTTF land idea I really don't think it or Jaws are ever coming back beyond ER-level things. I see so many wishes for a "classic Universal" land at Epic, but what's even the point of Studios in that case?

Okay but again, the power of CGI and the art of actors recreation.

I agree, but if any two WERE to come back - it would be those 2. I would just put Jaws ahead because easier.

With all due respect to both actors, Lloyd ain't exactly a spring chicken and Fox has retired for obvious reasons. There's a lot more than just CGI at play here.

They are once again choosing random audience members in the Horror Makeup Show and not actors

Not sure where to put this,

Does anyone know where this is playing? Is it just in the music plaza stage?

The sign says "presented in "theater style seating". I know that within the past few years USF Production Group built an all new theater to view cuts of commercials, TV show episodes, etc. Anything filmed there. So I assume that is where this is being held, meaning it would be a walk back to the Sound stage area.

Say what… Jaws is timeless. It’s a killer shark. BttF has a heavy reliance on the presence of its characters, and they’re not getting younger

The Delorean is timeless. Time travel is timeless. You don't have to follow the movie storyline. Add in the music and some really good set pieces with some practical explosions or fire, that's all you need. There's always the option of animatronics as well. You don't have to use the real life actors to make a good attraction. Same with JAWS, the appeal is the amazing animatronic sharks, not the actors.

I'd rather see Jaws as part of a VR attraction in CityWalk, like how BTTF is getting an escape room.

Yhea, Universal Studios is just the HHN park right now.
I wish that with IOA and Epic Universe heading for more ‘modern’ IP’s (excluding the Monsters land) Universal Studios goes for a ‘classic’ direction. Replace MIB with a Ghostbusters ride; Kidzone should be a Cartoon Network area, refurbish E.T, Fast and Furious should be replaced with Back to the Future and as much as I love Simpsons, Springfield is contractually closing down eventually…

shouldn’t that be opposite? Studios parks are the rotating door of IPs while the others are more classics.

I don't disagree there's a way to make it work, I just don't think it'll be a true BTTF experience without the actors. While the cast of Jaws is great, it's the shark that's the star of the movie. You need him in that ride. In Back to the Future, the car isn't the star. Sure it's iconic, but I don't think anyone could've just come in and drive the DeLorean (Just ask Eric Stoltz). Fox and Lloyd added that extra charm to the films.

It will be interesting to see the future of deep fake technology and how it's used in parks in the future. In just a few years the technology has come a long way and with The Irishman, they filmed the current day actors and it took quite a while for ILM to render all the work (I think nearly 2 years). There were no facial dots or balls or any kind of mocap accessories needed. It was all done with a 3 camera rig with the actors.

Now I believe I read it can be done in as little as 2 hours and they say that in the next couple years it will be able to be done in real time so a director will see the digitally created characters in a monitor instead of the stand in actors.

Imagine an experience at a park where real actors act out something and, in real time, through deep fake technology, it renders on the screen with long dead actors and actresses appearing lifelike on screen while interacting with audiences in real time. Imagine a photo realistic Michael J Fox getting into the Delorean, stopping, and pointing out into the audience and saying, "Let's go back to the future...except for that woman in the Mickey ears. Wrong park lady!"

There's the whole moral conundrum, NIL and paying royalties to estates, permissions, etc. But I think something like this, having been done in movies for years to de-age actors or to bring deceased actors back on screen for sequels long after their demise (with hit or miss results), is laying the groundwork for something that I think themeparks would be eager to try out.

Personally, deep fake technology terrifies me (imagine the kind of propaganda that could be used during the current war in Ukraine if you could have Joe Schmo go on camera as Zelenskyy saying ridiculous things or committing criminal acts), but I think it's only a matter of time until it's used for entertainment purposes in parks.

Kind of spooky/nightmarish, but the minions have taken over Universal Studios Florida and you cannot miss it when entering the park.

I'd rather have Supercharged over Back to the Future. I hope it gets replaced by that F&F drifting coaster instead.

Hoping that happens, and is to USF/USH like USJ has flying dinosaur. Whatever to make it happen.
