I may consider going around November. At the very least I would like to see Manta and Arctic Rescue open. Any word on Arctic opening soon?

As an AP holder I’m not over thinking one of the perks I paid for being closed

I literally had two planned trips to sesame street specifically for the holiday events and the people I talk to are hoping it re opens but most aren’t even confident in that

The communities I’m apart of are not happy with the changes and lack of commutation, I’m trying to spread the word about the penguins exhibit closing but they are doing it right at one of the busy best times the holidays

We have a show down, I guess manta is down which I didn’t know about, the sharks are down and so will the penguins

So this holiday season sounds like it’s going to suck, be overly crowded due to attractions down

As a paying customer it’s not like I want to support them much after this and maybe the sale can save them but I think many people are going to be looking for alternative entertainment after this because the trust is slipping away and the lack of compensation for AP holders even you close a second park is just a joke you took away my photo, free tickets, parking, monthly gift and access to any entire theme park and are offering nothing?

Arctic has been open for about a month now and manta is also open. It is very shitty of them to close sesame Place unannounced but it doesn’t mean that they’re shutting down the whole park they’re just shifting back to summer waterpark operations like it has pre-sesame Place.

So…I guess that rumored B&M wing coaster that was supposed to come to this park has been shelved, huh? That rumor fell off harder than Sesame Place’s hours.

Probably canceled or put on hold due to urgently needed projects involving the parks animals

Yeah, no signs of it so far. SWSD could definitely use a sizeable roller coaster to balance out the rest of them which are all short and compact. But I think the things being addressed right now (new/upgraded animal encounters, enhancements to existing rides, upgrades to events, other quality improvements) are rightfully taking priority.

The current pipeline that we know about appears to be:
  • Shark encounter refurb - 2026
  • Dolphin stadium refurb -2026
  • Penguin encounter refurb/rebuild - 2027(?)
  • Tide pools/Tidal Twister replacement - 2028(??)
And somewhere in there is potentially the new restaurant near Shark encounter, relocation of Riptide Rescue, and (presumably) freshwater aquarium refurb/replacement. Not sure where the wing coaster fits in that timeline, though I imagine it's still coming eventually.

Once that's out of the way, I could see this project happening. Though I still want an indoor ride haha.

I agree. It would be nice to a clone of that dark ride SW Orlando is getting as the park could really use one. Even then I wouldn't mind that simulator ride coming over here.

As for the next coaster, I would personally prefer a B&M mini hyper since there is apparently a law forbidding a high-capacity airtime coaster in California, but a wing coaster would be fun too. It would probably be more marketable.

My main concern with a mini hyper is where they would put it in the park doesn't exactly have a bunch of developable land on the side of the park where they can build above 30ft.
Also, this probably won't happen, but I would love an Antarctica version of Expedition Odyssey (with a higher budget) that exits out into a new penguin exhibit behind Emperor, with Emperor also being themed to fit in, giving San Diego an Antarctica land like Orlando, but I don't see that happening with current SeaWorld management.

I went yesterday

Walked on Arctic rescue twice at rope drop.....went to the Turtles...used my free feeding tray on the Seal Lions, got on Manta with a fast lane but man that ride was backed up by the time we got off on Manta and other coasters they have to keep kicking people off because of being too big and feels like they should address it better , went in the Jelly fish and saw the otters get feed. Went to the bayside area and its all cute for kids right now with halloween stuff and the bayside aqium is cute but very small, I enjoyed the Catshark in there.

Went to Old town for Dinner and saw it is all dressed up for Day of the Dead and would tell anyone in San Diego to check it out

Came back for Hall-O-Scream. Its a fun event with issues because of mazes and rides ops. Just too slow

Its not a bad event but it had less staffing then Six Flags and HHN. The New Orleans house was my favorite and the Slaughter house one had the best spots for the actors to get you
The Scarezones were fun and liked all the themes, the Scarecrows got my wife real good, so that was fun. I got a few pictures with the actors and they were all very cool, The dolls is such a cool idea and has some cool setting but not enough actors in the area for how big it is, the plant people are fun and liked the undead scuba divers.

I think out of the 4 mini shows, the one for Jack the Ripper is the best and also ties in well with the show next door, almost like a pre show. The Jack the Ripper show is cool and the part where they have Shelton Dancing is very fun and clever.

The last 90 ish mins the lines for the houses/mazes are pretty short. The ones at the front seemed to be the busiest ones still

The event is fun but I will say its not going to be for hardcore haunt fans, this is much more of a family fun events with some more mild fun thrills

The actors like at most events I've been to make it even better and getting pictures with them is nice where other haunts can tell the characters not to

My wife liked the event a good deal because she is more into the fun Halloween vibes then the hardcore haunt stuff

In an interesting change, they have added more dates for the penguin tour well into next year.

I'm assuming they just don't have the money to do a redo of this area yet

The Sharks I assume are going to cost a lot...plus the Dolphin stadium project so glad its not dead yet because I have little faith with what they will replace it with will be better

I did hear that Sea World Hall-O-Scream did well this year but I'm sure they are struggling outside of that. Some of the AP's on sale are lower then last year, so yeah they are really trying to get people back and if your a local like I am for USH, then its a good park they do lots of seasonal events and if you just show up for a few hours its im sure fun

For me its just hard to justify coming down when so much construction is going on, so wish them the best. I'll be back for the holidays and once more in January and then my pass is done

I just went last weekend

The Penguins are still there
Some app times were not correct, so heads up you might need to go to the building and double check some showtimes
like 3-5 flat rides were down and so was Arctic rescue
Manta they are redoing the entire road in front of the ride...so you can't get on it unless you go behind it

Quick Rant, I just do not feel like the way the park is run makes most people happy having rides just down because during one of the busier seasons for parks. The park was light but also no fireworks this year besides like 3 nights and just feels like the park is on its last legs in terms of drawing people in and you can see the park from all over the city right now and ads are on the TVs and places around town. So people know this park is here and are just choosing not to show up

To the good things, since it was light on crowds was easy to get in most shows at anytime
The Holiday lights here are well done and Manta and the skybuckets are so nice right now at nightitme
Stocking full of Soul is a really well done show and the sea lion holiday show is fun enough
The parade was fine enough for what it is

I had a good time but will just say this park just has some weird ops and is just not organized. I hope it somehow keeps going but it feels like an up hill battle for them

I looked at their calendar, and they only do fireworks twice the entire month of December... one NYE, and the other was Sat, Dec 13 for some reason (anyone know why?).

But I woudn't be surprised if SWSD has many, many severe environmental regulations about their fireworks. They have a lot of city mandates over their head. I remember how many problems they had when building JTA, as one city council member was dead set against it.

Bummer to hear many flat rides and Arctic Rescue were down, but it was like that on my last visit. Very disappointing for me, too.

I was going to go one more time in about a week only because I already own a fun card and figure I may as well do one more final visit, because I don't really see myself going there at all next year, or until they get a new ride (and aside from parking, I can get in for free--and I still don't want to go, lol)

I swore to myself I would never buy any AP from SWSD ever again because of that. I literally had to call them to deactivate it. So sketchy.
