It's insane that not a single studio has picked this up for distribution yet. Even if the movie's complete garbage, this is still one of the most beloved horror franchises in the world. And with Gans back on board, it already bears the distinction of looking better than almost every other film in its genre.

EDIT: There are also studios who would seemingly have a vested interest in seeing this movie succeed. Sony could herald the performance of SH2 as an exclusive buoyed by synergies between the gaming and film divisions. A24 has explicitly been seeking out mid-level franchises and blockbusters that complement the aesthetic associations people have formed with the brand. Neon would likely benefit from the association as well, since they seemingly have infinite social capital with the French.

Cineverse doing the Lord's work here between this and the Macon Blair Toxic Avenger film. Not sure why A24 couldn't have picked this up instead of all the derivative horror satire they've mostly been releasing this year.

My fear is the movie is simply bad... but that hasn't stopped A24 or Sony from releasing quite a few films over the past two years.
