Beware that the Alder wand (blue box) is pretty huge and doesn't fit in the lockers... so do a package pick up for it ;) (And all your purchases for that matter. SO much easier. I wish I'd known to do that when I went...)

How long are the two main sizes of wands?
Also, with the package pick-up, do they deliver everything you buy to the front gate and give you a ticket? Is there a charge?

Does anyone have a picture of a wand from the October 28 - November 24 (Reed) category?

I only really looked for these two wands (the place was packed and I couldn't move, so I got help getting these and moved on) so I don't know what size the other wands are. I'm pretty sure they're all different sizes; I don't think there's two main sizes. Anyways, the hazel wand is approx. 11 inches and the alder is approx. 17 inches.

All I know about package pick-up is that it's free because the yellow polo people told me so. I have yet to do it for myself, so I don't know the process. I'm guessing you pick it up with your ticket and they go by a ticket number or something.

EDIT: Sorry! I wrote my post and submitted it before going to measure the wands... I've now included how long they are. Sorry! :P

im so glad that this conversation ends on wands because i have been wondering about them.

they have all 12 birthday wands but do they have them available in all 3 cores? or do they not specify core?
i want a rowan wand but it needs to have a dragon heartstring core. lol.

If I recall correctly, they don't have any cores. They're pretty basic. I don't think they're made of the wood specified either.

There are actually 13 woods.

In the show they specify core but not in the shop.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the core is imaginary :P and they're all made of resin and whatever other materials, but not real wood. They look great though! The only thing I hate is the styrofoam in the box... I thought Universal was going green and all... Styrofoam is horrible for the environment!

PS: I edited my previous post because I forgot to include the lengths of the wands I got. Approximately, Hazel is 11 inches and Alder is 17 inches.

wow that sucks.
i dont even want one now.
:-(

it should DEFINITELY be made of wood (if not the actual wood listed, then SOME kind of wood!) and the core should be listed on the box.

oh well - more money to spend elsewhere.

That's definately disappointing about upping the price of the map by $20..surely if its selling well, you just get more in, you don't jack up the price so less sell..
I had been thinking about us buying one, but at that price it's likely not worth it.

I was a bit disappointed to hear that the wands aren't actually wood either, but we'll still buy a wand.

They do look great. I only hope they get my wand in by July 23rd...

I really can't believe people were expecting them to be real wood. if they were, they'd be crazy expensive.

As for the map, I doubt the price is going up to sell less, it's going up because it sold so fast at the lower price that might as well try for a high one.

Actually NOTHING is listed on the box or ANYWHERE for that matter. They only have a little chart on a piece of paper at the Owl Post that only the TMs can look at. The wand box says Ollivander's on top (as you can see in my picture); then it has a paper sticker on the side with an O and some decorative design around it, which I guess is something for the wandkeepers to use identify the wands; and it has a barcode sticker on the bottom of the box that has the wood type, a number (which is NOT the length) and a barcode. No wood type, length, core or anything is listed/shown anywhere for the public to see. I guess you can look for the supposed wood type on the barcode sticker, but it's not properly displayed in the racks. I think it definitely should be! What's wrong with putting what wood and length it is?

Let me state this again, though, the wands themselves are VERY nice quality and they do feel and look like wood. They are also heavy and intricately decorated.

Exactly. To carve the level of detail that the wands have now onto real wood would cost A LOT. I think they have created a great product here.

Everyone should look and feel them in person before deciding to pass on them!

My thoughts exactly, they could do a quick web search for real wands and would see how they are priced. $25 -30 is reasonable enough for these wands.

My birthday wand is the Elder wand. I haven't come across a picture of that one yet.
