If they convert Poseidon to the lake with underwater scenes and added an interactive hedgemaze (kim possible-style but using the remote wands they originally planned on selling) then, in addition to Dragon Challenge, guests could experience the entire Tri-Wizard Tournament. Just an idea.

Kinda takes up a lot less room than a village with nothing to do that replaces a land. Theming is one thing. Making an entire area nothing but theming is another.

If 100 people were polled in the park, and asked whether they'd rather have Godrics Hollow with no rides over something else with a ride, I'd wager a vast majority would want a ride.

Godric's Hollow was intriguing until Harry finally went there. There were really no big secrets or anything exciting there. There is nothing compelling about having it in a theme park....especially a resort starved for space.

Thanks for bringing up the space issue. Another great point on why it would be a bad idea. Universal really can't afford to have dead spaces in their parks.

If there wasn't a ride, I could honestly say I'd never visit the area more than once, if ever.

I believe that if anything it would be an homage at best. I would never be happy if they built the whole town!

OK, so we're all on the same page then. It's ok to have it, just not have a whole land based on it.

I should add that the whole Godric's Hollow thing was just conjecture on my part. But I think that it would be cool for REAL Potterheads. It's stuff I would like to see. More so than Ottery St. Catchpole where the Weasley's, Lovegood and Diggory's live.

Yeah, Godric's Hollow would be pretty boring. The only thing there, really, is James and Lily's destroyed house and the graveyard. The rest is just an ordinary town.

It's not even that iconic, really. Not enough to warrant space in a theme park when there are so many other, better locations to choose from.

They must replace Poseidon's Fury with a Ghostbusters Attraction or a Van Helsing small land. Van Helsing is a very underrated movie-and mark my words if the movie was much more darker..Van Helsing would have been alot popular by now and it would have it's very own attraction yes. :ears:

While Van Helsing didn't technically bomb, it was pretty poorly received amongst the general population, so much so that Universal scrapped all plans revolving around Van Helsing attractions (FJ was supposed to be Van Helsing if it had been a "major" hit).

Godric's Hollow cold be Universal's version of Toontown, were people can walk through the houses and see "artifacts" and other "magical" items. it could be interactive. Still would be somewhat boring, but then again, I don't think Toontown really offered much. it was one big meet and greet, if you take out the one ride (Barnstormer).

Yeah but just think if Van Helsing ws a really really good movie. If it was darker just think it would have been awesome! And I think it would make a good attraction-like Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde..Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein. That is something Universal has not really created before and I'd think it'd be amazing. Imagine Dracula and Frankenstein being created!!! I would put Sir Ben Talbot as the Wolfman from Benicio Del Toro's Version.

Don't forget, if it was replacing PF, then either a)It would need to be Greek/Roman themed, or b)They would need to replace all of LC with a land themed around the ride.

If you mean that it was 'really really' better than watching paint dry, then I would agree with you. :stunned:

How did I miss this thread? Anyhow...

Let me start by saying that while Poseidon and basically all of LC are just an area to walk by on the way to the WWoHP, I do think that Mythos and Poseidon are incredible works of art, and PF does have a few good qualities like the facade, the water vortex, and the illusion when it all goes dark and you enter the temple. If the story was better, and the video and some of the effects improved, it would be nice attraction. It has good bones, in my opinion. It would be nice if PF got an upgrade and we kept it and Mythos, because Mythos by itself would look weird and awkward. And I would think Mythos is staying as is.

That aside, why would the train station be where Poseidon is? Why not just put it where Sinbad is? Poseidon is WAY far from the Hogwarts Express and the entrance to the WWoHP. A train station can't cover all of LC, and I don't know what they'd put between this train station and the rest of Hogsmead. Woods? That'd be a HUGE waste of land...

I'd be glad to have more Potter wherever they want to put it, IF it makes sense. Now, if they turn Amity into Diagon Alley, we're out of iconic locations that haven't been used and which would actually have enough and be enough for a whole theme park area. The most important locations in the stories are in Hogwarts and its surroundings. Unfortunately, FJ has killed any chances of using a lot of the iconic areas from JKR's world because they've already used them in this ride. They could've had a whole Forbidden Forest area and ride, or Quidditch, or the Chamber of Secrets, etc. but not now because it's already used in FJ, so it wouldn't work eslewhere. Especially geographically, it wouldn't make sense to make a separate attraction using any of these locations if they're not next to or within Hogwarts. That leaves what other iconic locations not used on FJ?
- Diagon Alley (supposedly going into Jaws)
- Ministry of Magic (if it happens, it should be worked into London, near but separate to Diagon Alley, so it would be on the Studios side)
- Privet Drive (capacity nightmare. It's a location separate from everything, so it's small and isolated and just... not happening on its own)
- The Burrow (Weasley's home would be cool, but another capacity nightmare and again has to be a stand-alone attraction because it's in the middle of nowhere)
- Godric's Hollow (Sure it's somewhat iconic, but not thaaat relevant, other than a bunch of famous wizards lived there, so not very interesting for a theme park. Just like the Shrieking Shack, G.H. is famous or infamous for it's history, but neither is very interesting for a theme park attraction based solely on it.)
- Grimmauld Place (Sirius Black's house would also be a cool place to visit, but I encounter the same issues as with Privet Drive and the Burrow)

... And I'm out of places. There are some other locations, say like the cave they visit in the sixth installment to look for the locket horcrux, but again, locations like those which had a single purpose and are only interesting because of that single purpose and their visual appeal, wouldn't make for a great attraction on their own. Unless we have an attraction where we visit different locations in another "Journey?" But it just sounds far fetched to me...

So, I do want more Potter, but I don't see what the heck could go into the left over Lost Continent area if it were to be transformed to HP. In my opinion, all the doable ideas like Diagon Alley, maybe the Ministry, etc would fit into London (in the Studios). Maybe there can be a dark ride attraction where we visit some of the iconic locations, like some sort of night bus tour, or through apparition, or flying on brooms... IDK... If they're building London in Amity, I just can't come up with a logical Harry Potter use for LC's land.

I would prefer they wiped Lost Continent off the map completely. It's pretty much useless now anyway. Mythos could easily be "remade" to fit into the Potter universe, and still serve the same great food. I like the train idea, and I do think capacity is going to be really tricky.

Something else to consider, how many stupid people that only buy a one park pass are going to wait in line only to find out they can't ride the train? LOTS. They better be really clear at the front gate on who can and cannot ride.

Also..something else..how would you prove you had a multi-park pass? You would need to a whole other set of ticket takers on each side. The only other idea I had to solve this problem, was to give everyone a "Train Ticket" that cost an additional $20. They could even sell them at the train station. That way people would know that you needed a ticket to ride the train. If you already had a multi=park pass, they would just give you one for free.
