Looking forward to the Zelda game. The only one I've played is the Twilight Princess on Wii. And I didn't even make it past the point when you turn into the wolf. I wanna try and get into the games more. Gonna play the first 2 on the NES classic when I get it for Christmas. Might look in to one of the Zelda games for 3DS as well.

Buy the Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask remakes for 3DS. A Link Between Worlds is also great. Your welcome.

I like Twilight Princess a lot, but it takes a long time to really get interesting. It took me like 6+ hours of playing/progressing before I actually started feeling engaged in the game. So the introduction is poor imo, but the rest is good. That said, I think there are much better Zelda games than Twilight Princess.

Yes, if you have a 3DS please get these and try them, they are great. I personally suggest you play Ocarina before Majora, I think Ocarina is a bit more accessible, plus Majoras mask comes directly after OoT in the timeline ( Zelda timeline can get very confusing for the franchise as awhole, but majora is a direct sequel to ocarina). Majora is quite different than Ocarina of Time though due to the 3 day mechanic and different events occuring based on day, which you will begin to understand if/when you play it. I try not to use guides, but for Majora I needed a guide to 100% it. A link between worlds is also great, but different from the other 2 in that it takes a classic top down view and play mechanic is very different, but still one of my favorite Zeldas and also very easy to get into imo.

Noticed that as well. Can't wait to hear more about the technical specs of this. I wonder if the charging unit provides additional cooling so that when playing on the big screen it has more power.

The dock is just power and a fan, but since it has additional power and ventilation they're going to up the processing power of the CPU and GPU to allow for 1080p output to the TV (mobile mode it's only 720p).

I'll have to give those a try. Would like to try and play as much as I can before Breath of the Wild. I'll definitely play Zelda 1 and 2 on the NES Classic. Hopefully I don't get too frustrated with them and actually make a solid attempt at beating them haha. I also hear a Link To The Past is a great Super Nintendo title. That's accessible on the virtual console or perhaps I'll wait for the (hopefully) inevitable SNES classic edition.

I haven't decided how I'm gonna approach the Switch yet. I'd like to get it at launch but I'm sure Nintendo will botch production of it making it hard to come by. Although it'll be coming out in March which is rare for a new console. So the Christmas demand won't be there. When the new info comes out in January I'm sure that'll sway my decision one way or the other

If you want it at launch all you have to do is preorder. Those usually open up for consoles right when the price is known.

Interestingly enough found this while looking up Switch rumors this morning: The Nintendo Switch will act differently at home and on the go, plus more information about Super Mario Run — Quartz

So it is as I thought and as you said as well, this does make me wonder though if every game will be able to be played on the go. I think once I read somewhere that some games will only have limited on the go content.

That's an old rumor that's been proven false. All games will work on the go. The dock will just up performance when in use like outputting 1080p to the TV.

Congratulations to the Nintendo Switch for being the most searched for video game console of 2016 on Google. Not bad for only being officially revealed at the end of October :D

Could this finally be Nintendo getting back in the console wars? This has been a huge year for them.

To be honest, as we discussed before their consoles are marketed differently from the other big name consoles, so they don't really compete in the console wars the same way Sony or Microsoft do. The Wii is the prime example of this, and I expect the Switch to be marketed in a similar fashion. Also, they're releasing it on an off year for the Sony and Microsoft.

Not sure what any of it really means but from comments I've read it still sounds like it'll definitely be the most powerful gaming portable.

It is possible though that it will be more powerful, as some think that early dev kits were less powerful than what the finished product is. In any case, will be interesting to see what the specs will end up being and to see what games will be released.

I can see it being PC footage being true, since it is made in Unreal 4 and it is probably easier to develop using PC; however, since it is a Switch exclusive, I would find it weird they don't have a dev kit, then on the other hand, I guess as long as the Switch can run Unreal 4 they don't really need a dev kit at the moment.

I think it's time we accept that the Switch seems to be handheld first and home console second. In a way it makes sense. Sony and Microsoft have too much of a strangle hold for Nintendo to come in guns blazing with an uber powerful console right now. They had to do something different and by general reaction the Switch seems to be well received so far. Their time to release a PS4/XB1 level console and have a chance of actually competing head on came and went in 2012 when they had a full year head start on both. The Switch represents a departure from the traditional home console market but can also represent a new beginning. We've seen that there's a lot of support from modern engines and stuff that should make some third party games easy to port but we won't be getting the cutting edge blockbusters. We'll also have all of Nintendo behind it plus the traditional third party games that are normally made for handhelds. Now we wait just a few more weeks.

I don't think so really, I think their rationale is to just re-invent the meaning of console, and they do so by combing home and hand-held. The way I see it, Nintendo is focused on consoles, whereas Sony and Microsoft are focused on power. From the trailer, it also seems Nintendo really wants to continue embracing their idea of bringing people together, and hence I think the hand-held part evolved from that, rather than from the more traditional hand-held idea. Nintendo's comments on VR seem to suggest this as well, as they prefer the idea of people playing together in physical settings. The traditional idea of the hand-held is one in which the games is isolated from other people, with Switch however, people can play the same hand-held together. I also don't think the NES Classic release was just a random thing, I think it was a well planned incentive, to go back to their roots so to speak. As for 3rd party support, as long as the power is adequate and the operating system etc. is easy enough to code for, then there should be no problems. PC games usually have graphics settings so that people can adjust for lesser hardware, so the whole thing of absolute power is a must, really is not true. What I think they should do though is start including a second controller. That is something I really miss. When I bought my NES, it came with two controllers, nowadays you always just get one because playing together (cough multiplayer) has become so outdated, that it is always just a single controller. I definitely hope there will be more Japanese RPGs etc., especially with Atlus aboard. If there is one thing I also really wish would happen: a new double dragon game! In an y case, one thing is for sure: the full reveal can't come soon enough :)

Just don't go expecting games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or you might be disappointed.

Oh I agree, I don't really have my hopes up for anything spectacular in that department, I am happy if Call of Duty runs on it :)
I do hope the new Mass Effect is coming to the Switch though, I know EA said they are bringing a big game to the Switch ...
Other game I'd like to see is a new Darksiders, I think Nordic said something was in development.

Also, thinking about it more, I would say Nintendo makes consoles, whereas Microsoft and especially Sony make HTPC's
