Not trying to be a jerk myself, but it’s not hard to see someone’s disappointed that so far there’s (probably) not a show for two fan favorite HHN characters/Icons, and that this one MIGHT have stolen a slot yet again.

I may be one of only a handful on the forum excited for this, I was honestly really uninterested in a Jack show (or a Ted show when they had that rumor lol) because of the dearth of humor in the corporate approved scripts. I'm excited to see a new theme for the year even if we see some recycled effects/performers.

I like Nightmare Fuel, so I don't mind it coming it back each year with a different theme/aesthetic.

But, I do wish we had an additional stage/live performance show that offered something different- whether that's a heavily stunt-oriented show or parody show. I just think HHN could use the additional offering.

Stolen is doing A LOT of heavy lifting here. The rumor mill was wrong. Simple as that.

Neat!

Definitely unexpected considering the rumor was a Jack show, but sometimes the rumors don't line up for one reason or another and end up being wrong, it happens. It doesn't mean that a Jack show was somehow "stolen", you can't steal something that wasn't there. (Or perhaps in a different location, there can always be a chance Jack shows up in the Lagoon Show.)

I don't mind Nightmare Fuel returning, especially since they've got a new theme to roll with and a Noir theme actually sounds pretty cool. I did find it amusing a few years ago they were intending for NF to go with a self-contained story/theme each year with the start of the Circus theme...only to end up making the story a two-parter to give it a happier ending. Hopefully they continue to roll with new themes/stories in the following years.

Guys…we’re never getting anything but a dance/stunt/magic show in the Fear Factor space. It’s the easiest, most culturally-accessible thing you can do to take people off the streets. The effectiveness of a parody/comedy show is way too dependent on people’s individual experiences/sensibilities (even Bill & Ted, from a way different era, had to tack on sexy dancers to hedge against this). And basing a show like that on an IP that’s only significant within the very specific niche of HHN super fandom will just never happen at this scale. I mean, even myself as a super fan hated the Jack show back in 2015 (which was in a smaller “venue” during, again, a different era). The best we can hope for for this space going forward is that it’s broadly appealing enough that it zaps some bodies off the streets away from the things you actually like at the event.

To add onto this, I do have a question for those who experienced years that had Bill & Ted. Did B&T consistently pack the amphitheater and get the lines that NF has consistently gotten year after year?

Yeah, as much as on this site we might want something different - the GP loves NF and packs that venue every single showing, every single night.

During its heyday? Yes. Toward the end of its run? No.

How important are the Fuel Girls to the show, actually?

I have posted here before about my increasing disinterest in HNF, so keep in mind that that's where I'm coming from with this - but in my mind, if they only brought the acro and fire wand tricks, I've been waiting for a major shakeup from all of that for a long time.

To say it nicely, they have certainly brought their talents to HHN very consistently over this past half-decade, and I am interested to see what new offerings UDX has chosen to fill those gaps with.

Here's hoping they don't just end up putting together a knock-off Fuel Girl group to do the same routines as ever.

Also, I'm not at all surprised to see them keep using the HNF name. They essentially hit jackpot on a solid Halloween theme park show name from the start right after B&T and AoV ended. It's got name recognition, people seem to really like it, and they own it completely. "Nightmare Fuel" as a phrase doesn't even necessarily have anything to do with the Fuel Girls themselves. It's got its' own strong cultural meaning outside of that context. Honestly, I always took it as just a cute little nod to the group, nothing more.

Fun fact: The term “Nightmare Fuel,” originated on Mystery Science Theater 3000, coined by Mike Nelson - which makes its association with a very humorless dance/stunt show amusing to me.

Came here to say the exact same thing. Are the icons popular? Yes, but more more-so among diehard fans like us. They want a show with general, mass appeal and that's exactly why something like Nightmare Fuel or it's predecessor, or anything similar to come after, is going to fill that space and slot.

That said, I've never understood why they don't also utilize the Animal Actors stage as well. Seems like that could be a good spot to put a smaller, Icon themed show there and then everybody's happy - general public gets their Nightmare Fuel, die-hards get their icon show. Everyone wins.

The Animal Actors stage can’t be modified or it distracts the animals during the daytime show. That includes fog or hazers (the scents linger).

Copy that. Didn't think of that but makes sense in hindsight.

I'm also going to say...after the new Horror Make-Up Show opens and hopefully revives more interest...they should just keep that open during the event...I know we've all been saying it...but there's no reason not to. You could even do a special HHN overlay where Jack hosts. I'm sure that may have even been suggested before too because it just seems obvious...

I've always wanted this, but my guess is that it wouldn't pull enough people to make it worth it. I love the show but the theater itself is pretty small lol

This is the meet-up point for Non-Private RIP tours. Unless they find another location, this venue will only be open during HHN for those tours.
