Thoughts on SkyPlex?

  • I want it!

  • I have concerns, but still want to see it built.

  • I hate it!

  • I don't care.

That actually looks like a lot of fun. More elements than I expected.

I wonder if you'll be able to see this monstrosity from UOR? 575 Feet is TALL. It's like when you are driving to Cedar Point and you can see the MF and TTD from miles away.

Weeell.. it is two miles (I measured it in goog earth) but the new waterpark will be just under a mile. So, go figure. Curvature of the earth and all, I don't believe so, but one may be able to see a hint of it on the horizon.

Really hope that if it does happen, that it indeed will have a beyond 90 degree drop, also, would be cool if they begin with a dive drop.
I love the wrap around the entire building as well!

The video is deceiving with the on ride and off ride views spliced together which makes it seem much longer than it will be.

Yes, but it is still really long for a coaster. Total ride time will be about 4 minutes according to the designer.

I think he said open minute. Themes park review posted a video with the rendering, followed by an interview with Mike Kitchen where he gives the stats:

Thanks Seth!
The lift hill mechanism alone will probably be quite expensive, spiral cable pull; but then a LSM system would probably be even more costly.
Anyway, barrel row, followed by a 110 degree drop, I am in!

It has been announced that Skyplex will also feature a 460ft drop tower.

Article says it is being done by US Thrill Rides, same company that does the polercoaster. But then, I am not entirely sure as to how much US Thrill Rides relies on other companies, since I think the polercoaster is in partnership with S&S.

Hmm strange maybe I just wasn't listening good enough. Thought they had said their name around the time that they flashed the text box saying that Intamin had developed Falcon's Fury.

In that case ignore my previous post.

The ride is designed by US Thrill Rides, built by Intamin. S&S is apparently not involved in the project at all anymore.

Is this for the tower or for both tower and coaster? I know the coaster would use S&S track and trains, has this changed also then?
