Right. And I think the fact it’s all but confirmed based on Raptor Encounter’s signage that we’re going to be getting a “partial JW” update; at least the signage/font/colors.

The JW font and colors look better for a huge exposed coaster anyway. I hope they keep the entrance gates as “Jurassic Park”, but considering the changes they’re doing to the JP area (namely the coaster); blue colors and JW font is the right move.

All this is incredible. Perfect view from Port of Entry ✔️ Unobtrusive yet cool view from 3 Broomsticks ✔️ New Raptor Encounter Sign ✔️

And this is only the very beginning!

I mean, you are meeting "Blue," a character from Jurassic World, so, yea.

Very curious as to what the color for the sign of this coaster will be though. This, does make sense. Although the sign being very JW esc was striking but I doubt the GP is thinking to much about it

The fences for the Raptor Encounter and especially the background walls are themed exactly like their counterparts from Jurassic World, and not Jurassic Park.

The new coaster's queue will likely continue the trend, with raptor muzzles and stable designs straight out of the Jurassic World film... but again, this doesn't mean the land is changing to Jurassic World, (at least any time soon). Pretty sure it's a have your cake and eat it too type situation. They get to have Jurassic World-inspired attractions at the park, without making the investment to re-theme the River Adventure—or the entire land for that matter.

This all makes sense. So are we expecting no paint color change to the exterior of the Discovery Center? I definitely see how this could all work but still curious.

If we ever do a full transition to JW though, gimme those mountains from Beijing.

Could this result in a Pandora/Everest type of thought where once the coaster is up and running it would allow River Adventure to go down for an extended refurb next January?

My positive morning thoughts: the Raptor Encounter looks promising.

Magic Feather said:
Yeah... I have had mixed feelings on this project from the get go. I have no doubt that this will be an absolutely incredible Rollercoaster with some nice rockwork and what not, but I keep asking myself “at what cost?” Kong and Forbidden Journey already did a number on Jurassic Park’s atmosphere, but this completely ripped it up, affecting everything from the general walkways, to Pteradon Flyers, and even Popeye (whose once secluded turn into the climactic liftnwas secluded, but now is abutted by a mass of steel). At this point, the only part of Jurassic that is retaining the secluded feel that once made the area so special appears to be the path between the HP bridge and LC Bridge, and that too will be heavily trafficked as people go to the entrance by the discovery center.

I once brought this up to a friend, who quickly responded “well, if you have a problem with coasters, then why do you like Hulk,” to which I first responded “I don’t hate coasters,” but then went on to talk about how MSHI is themed to an industrial urban area, so have a large mass of steel that appears to be sculpted is befitting of the area. Even more so, Hulk frames the entry to and area around it in a way that (so far) it doesn’t appear that Velocicoaster will. While this will be a great addition to the park, and one that I am sure I will enjoy, I still can’t help but mourn the loss of JP’s brilliant placemaking.

I 100% agree with this.

And I especially appreciate you making the distinction between MSHI and JP.

Temporary or not, it looks shocking. They can't get trees and foliage in there fast enough.

Okay I mean they can blend the theming between JP and JW but I mean if you have the Jurassic Park sign, do not be advertising yourself as Jurassic World yet lol.

Is the JW recording a social distancing reminder? It could be a shared recording they made for USH and IOA and expected people not to notice. Either that or the park themselves didn't notice.

Couldn’t they simply do a “budget” retheme?
Just change signage and the color of boats and call it a day?

A mash up of both designs is incohesive and is certainly not ideal.

I’m such a stickler that if they don’t AT LEAST also change the JP Animal Control logos and voice overs on River Adventure I’d be so disappointed. Lol

I'd like as much of the original JP design aesthetic to remain as possible.

And certainly the music and sound effects loops.
