It can't be as bad as the last two but...yeah the plot to me it's just as dumb

We can cure everything...lets send 4 people to do this vs an army that could easily just put the animals asleep and get the DNA

I love the director but Rogue One just worked so well and his last film started off well but by the end was just...dumb to me

So I hope this is at least a fun ride

It looks underwhelmingly "meh" (borderline boring actually) & very "been there saw that". LOW expectations are low.

Hopefully this is just the teaser trailer & we have a full trailer on the way that's more enticing. The "most dangerous dinos too dangerous for JP" yet they proceed to show dinos that were seen in JP1 & JP3. *sigh*

When ScarJo's character said

Doesn't even look like a Gareth Edwards film. A hired hit.

Did none of the dinosaurs running around North America in the last film -- maybe 4 generations removed from the dinos on this mysterious island -- have the DNA??? And the Costa Rican government thought to firebomb the other two (three?) islands but left this one alone???

Since 1990, live-action movies only, we've had five Batmen, three Spider-Men, three Supermen, four Fantastic Fours ... I feel like we can reboot the original JP now. Stick closer to the book, cast Cillian Murphy as Dr. Grant, let it print money.

yeah, I quite liked Monsters and Godzilla; and there were pieces of Rogue One I found enjoyable but this has none of the visual style or tone that I associate with Gareth Edwards. The movie looks bad and, at least in the snippets we've been provided, the writing and acting aren't any better!

Indeed, my hope was that a more established screenwriter like David Koepp combined with Edwards' visual style would have synthesized into something interesting.

I’d love to see what a remake of the original JP could be. Especially if they made it darker, grittier, and followed the novel more closely. I also think they should make it R-rated where the original JP film isn’t going anywhere. It’s the same story (or a very similar one) but made for adult audiences.

I think the reason though that they haven’t remade JP is because the original film is still immensely popular and holds up so well. This is the same reason Jaws has never gotten a remake even though it’s been whispered before. Some of these movies are so big and well-known that remaking them would seem obsolete where the originals hold up so well. Most films that get remakes are obscure cult-classics

I'm generally pretty receptive to reboots/remakes, but I'm comfortable just leaving JP alone

personally i think the trailer looks amazing. it gives me a lot of hope.
maybe since the last two Jurassic movies were so very awful maybe I'm just happy to see that this looks good. I'm very curious on how it plays out. I skipped the last one on theaters ( it looked awful.from the trailer alone) but I'll definitely catch this on theaters.

Mahershala Ali is a really wonderful actor and it seems like he's gonna be great in this. it made me happy seeing him in the trailer, I hope he survives.

it just looks great. a lot of fun. looks like it will have intense scenes. feels more horror.
I specially loved Scarlett being like the hunter from lost world this time around.
I loved her a lot in the trailer.
Scarlett using guns, sign me up!

The first JP is a classic and holds up

Why would we remake it?

Now Lost World....sure why not because the book is whole different story but JP the book and films are both great.

The trailer says that this island isn’t near the old ones or Costa Rica. It’s by Barbados. And the government firebombing only happens at the end of the first book; nothing of the sort happens to Nublar or Sorna in the film universe, only the volcano erupting and wiping out Nublar.

That said, the fact this island’s “secret” went undiscovered for nearly four decades despite being InGen’s testing ground for the original park, which means it would’ve come out somewhere along the line, is still absurd.

the first book needs to be adapted into a TV show. rated mature tv show for violence.
I wish we got a very faithful very close adaptation of the books. I wish it was long format. not just a movie. but a full show. maybe add more stuff to the building of the park. add more scenes of the construction. add more scenes of the cloning process.
just develop the park more.
this videogame did that a little bit, not as a prequel but as a direct sequel to the first movie. you got to see more of the island. it made you explore other areas.

I understand that the new movie will have plot holes and I get that some stuff seems dumb. and it might make no sense

but some of those plot holes might be answered in the movie ( the company behind the research might be evil. the cure plot might be a lie, the real reason for the DNA might be something evil etc)
there might be a reason why the team going into the island is so small. there might be a reason why the island was never visited before etc.

but even if the plot is dumb. at least it looks like it will be amazing. the sets and the dinos look really good. I'm just excited to see Scarlett in an action movie again. I have faith that the plot will make sense.

Ehh, I think this is about the level of material that Gareth Edwards is built for. The Creator was pretty insipid, and I wasn't really in love with Monsters either.

The trailer quips aren't much to write home about but Koepp is a solid pro. I'm sure it'll be watchable, which in this franchise is almost a miracle.

I agree with both assessments, but at least those movies had his unique visual style and eye for world building guiding you through when the plots were empty or derivative.

It may be a fool's hope, but I'm hoping it's just one of those cases where the trailers don't work, but the movie does. Either way, I'll be there opening night!
