Ghostbusters lends itself much more to a dark ride than a roller coaster. A MiB replacement actually makes a lot of sense.

F&F seems a better IP for this. Doesn't mean that's what they's do though. I can see either.

a Ghostbusters coaster could still have an amazing queue. look at gringotts, the queue is almost cooler than the ride. they could put animatronics and stuff and have slimer all over the queue flying around.

I think even a very nice queue would be a big waste of the brand.

Just what studios needs - double down on a ridiculously moronic IP AND have that IP in multiple sections of the park.

I’d rather it be themed to Wicked, Happy Gilmore, or It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia than Fast & Furious.

I can see something like mission breakout but that would require a tall building that will seem out of place, to me.

A tall building in New York seems like the most perfect place.

As for IP. Up until the day the permits were found, I was about 90% sure this would be F&F. It would be the same type of coaster as Hollywood using the same trains and design.

But, I can make a good case for Ghostbusters. There has been some small rumblings about a Ghostbusters attraction for a while (everything like now is in flux) and with the IP returning to the parade and HHN, Universal obviously have some kind of deal in place for theme park use.

The location with the fire house still there is the perfect location for GB, not F&F but F&F is in San Fransisco which makes even less sense.

I'm convinced since Potter and Simpsons, merchandise sales plays a huge role in deciding what IP goes in. Nintendo gets people into the parks but the merchandise pays the real bills. The F&F store is always dead and the merch is trash. I'd never buy any of it but I've bought Ghostbusters merch.

Putting a new F&F ride into USF is marketing confusion, people know that F&F is already there and it sucks. Promoting a new F&F coaster has the added challenge of convincing people that it's new and good.

I mentioned it on here before but I’ve heard from a reliable source that they are simultaneously working on this and a F&F replacement. My prediction is this is a F&F coaster, with F&F getting repurposed for a 2028 attraction just in time for Simpsons demise.

Does a world class coaster really NEED a hugely sustainable IP, though? I mean, GB has proved its sustainability over the decades…that aside - the question remains…Cedar Point has zero IP’s, only world class coasters and it attracts sell out crowds all the time.

In Orlando a theme park of Universal’s caliber needs a (at least minimally) themed coaster.

Across the street at Fun Spot you can find unthemed.

I just really hope the retheme is either Ghostbusters or BTTF. I don't want another F&F attraction at USF.

Do you expect the f&f replacement to keep the ride system? I really hope universal doesn’t think they can just slap a new film in the tube. That would solve NOTHING imo.

No idea— I’m sure someone knows but may not be ready to divulge. Too many other projects that are more immediate and Universal has a habit of last minute changes to plans.

I'm sympathetic to this; in a vacuum, obviously I'm far, far more interested in a GB attraction than an F&F attraction.

But does it have to be this attraction? I mean, sure, I'm making a lot of assumptions about what it's going to be, but I think they're moderately informed assumptions... and an outdoor, bare steel coaster is a disservice to the potential inherent in Ghostbusters as a concept. Conversely, it's pretty much exactly what F&F deserves.

There's a whole other discussion to be had about what does and does not qualify as a "theme" park worthy coaster (as opposed to "amusement" park worthy). But this is probably not the place for such things!

Merely "repurposing" Supercharged would be another massive missed opportunity.

As much as I want that attraction gone, I'd be inclined to wait until Universal can do it "right" (read: a completely new attraction concept for a different IP) if the other option is just reskinning what's there.

Martin on WDWMagic seems to believe it’s F&F so I’m inclined to believe it’s so. Ghostbusters is a great idea but for now I think it’s just hopium.

Martin has good Universal sources, in addition to his excellent Disney sources. He had the earliest and first definitive info on Epic's layout. and....He was right on Epic with 5 lands when everyone was saying four lands.

I’d assume repurpose the building but not the ride system, but who knows.

I'm totally fine with this being a F&F coaster, it's what I kinda' expected and that's a theme that'll work just fine as an outdoor coaster. (I'm in the boat with @belloq87 that something like GB is better suited for a dark ride or show.)

And as for there being two F&F attractions when it opens, I honestly don't mind since I don't even bother with Supercharged in the first place. The closest thing is using the queue for HHN and that's it. No point in fretting over two F&F attractions if I'm only going on one of them, that and Supercharged is eventually getting replaced down the line so it's all pretty moot.
