Halloween Horror Nights 35 (UOR) - Speculation & Rumors

My completely baseless speculation for HHN35.

• Stranger Things 5 - because, of course.
  
  
• Five Nights at Freddy's 2 - those animatronics weren't cheap, they need to get their money's worth out of them.
  
  
• Another classic slasher house in the vein of Jason. Something like A Nightmare on Elm St where you go through scenes from the whole series in the first half, then walk through an archway space between two of the glove blades, and then hallways of Freddy's with all the different faces and outfits he's worn throughout the series. That was suuuuuch a great house and tribute to the IP, I expect it continue if they can get the rights for different IPs to work out.
  
  With the speculation of Hellraiser, it would fit my mold too. First half movies, then walk through an opening in Lament Configuration/Cube, and then just a couple hallways of non-stop Cenobite scares pinballing you along.
  
  Or, with it being an anniversary year, maybe an original version. The first half of the house being highlight rooms of previous fan favorite originals, then walk though Fears Lanturn, and just have the past Icons jumping out to scare you down the hallways. Something like this I feel would allow for "lesser" Icons/Mascots/Characters like Bones because you don't have to do anything with their backstory, they're just part of the pinball scares in the second half.
  
  I just loved how that house worked and want to see them do it in the future. I'll gladly sacrifice a few rooms of scareactors I miss more times that not to have a section where everybody is guaranteed to get some scares.
  
  
  
• A Cat Lady House - all the other speculation about this makes total sense.
  
  
  
• Anarcade 2 Scarezone - it's just such a great and easy zone to do. Don't need any street props, just a TON of fog and blacklights. Such a fun entrance to the event and the "book report" zones are just getting old.

What I think we know for sure is that they’ll bring back the icons in some shape or form next year for the anniversary year. But the whole Jack Vs. Oddfellow, is really wishful thinking! It would be cool, but idk? HHN is notorious for teasing us fans with anything, but it’s all in good fun.

For IP’s, Stranger Things Season 5 would be cool or they can do a best of with all the previous seasons with Season 5 sprinkled in, almost something to the last Walking Dead house we had back in 2016.

Hellraiser is making waves, and I’m all for that. But I think they should do Freddy Krueger. Hear me out: back in 30 they brought back Leatherface and made it a best of/ original story with the characters. They just did Jason Universe, why not bring back Nightmare on Elm Street franchise? Freddy deserves to come back! Especially if Jack is coming, it would make sense.

If they’re going to do a Blum House house, they should do a full Black Phone set up for both movies. I also think Imaginary can work, and I wish they would do justice to Sinister!!!!!!

Abigail should definitely come to HHN, along with The Lost Boys, Gremlins, and Fright Night.

This was so intertwined with the theme of 2019 that idk how it would work to bring back - but I'd still love to see it!

I actually would like to see them "ignore" the icons next year, and focus on just Jack/Oddfellow. Duality of Fear was a great idea, horrendous execution. One idea I had was to "split" the entrance zone into separate areas for Jack and Oddfellow (Jack in front of Minions with a circus-like atmosphere) while Oddfellow in front of Wicked (with his stage platform from 32), etc.

I'd like to see them "re-invigorate" the icons for HHN 36-39, with each having a house or zone, leading up to 40.

Yes that’s what I am hoping, or else it’ll become repetitive. But Some people haven’t been to 30, including me. But what I am hoping for, that they do something high budget. That guests haven’t seen before.

I agree with this, but I also feel that they could incorporate Chance and Eddie to a lesser extent, as they are both relevant to Jack's story.

To my extent, They should include Pumpkin Lord too, because Oddfellow might go against Fear. And make a deal in the Halloween Pantheon.

That’s Happening and people are Obsessed with it, the consumers, win in Modern day.

I don't at all think it's a guarantee that Oddfellow will be back next year. If nothing anniversary-related happens for 35, I won't be very bummed myself. Once the novelty wears off, those types of nostalgia-bait offerings usually don't do anything for me. I also don't have any attachment to the OG Icons and wouldn't care if they returned or not.

If Oddfellow were to return next year though? I would not be surprised, and I think there'd be a lot of reason for it. If they want to take the anniversary angle, then the most popular (and non-Little Boo) original element of the event post-HHN30 is him. He was positioned far more traditionally as an Icon than the others, and has already been built into the event's history for decades.

Using him also allows them to bring back their favorite child Jack in a way doesn't feel super forced. There's an established rivalry there, as well as an Old VS New dynamic that they can play into. They both share the circus motifs; a motif that they've succesfully used for event theming, marketing and promotional materials before. They recently played with the idea of having two Icon-type performers hosting the event. The pieces to make it happen are all right there. It does kinda write itself.

I didn't even mention the few allusions to both Jack and Oddfellow within 34's houses and Tribute Store, which are likely just coincidences, but it at least shows that the characters are still in the minds of the creatives.

I just think Jack VS Oddfellow has some merit as an idea outside of Rule of Cool wishlisting. If it does end up happening, there would have been a clear path leading up to it, and I'm certain we'd look back and think ourselves silly for doubting it.

I think the most obvious way for this to start off is the Oddfellow logo appearing in El Artista on the last night. This leads me to believe that we may see the Oddfellow VS Jack rumor that we saw early this year.

Things I think we could potentially/realistically see for HHN35:

Stranger Things 5 - with the show closing out this year, it would make a ton of sense for it to come.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 - it's coming very soon, and there was literally an ad for it at the exit of the house this year. Feels like a no brainer!

Fallout Season 2 - this is a big maybe, but with the house getting better reviews toward the end of the year, I could see them giving this another shot. This season will feature a lot more large setpieces/locations that could fit a house.

Oddfellow vs Jack - see above (this could function as the "icon" house I assume)

Cat Lady of Crooked Lane - with the popularity of this zone, I can absolutely see this getting the "zone to house" treatment. This feels tailor-made for a tent IMO.

Another Slaughter Sinema 2 property - Mardi Gras Murders, Zyborgs, etc.

Outside of houses..
- Mel's Die In street experience absolutely needs to return.
- Lagoon show also needs to return - it really felt like it made a difference this year.

This isn't a serious guess but I'd love to see Guillermo Del Toro's name get attached to an HHN project. Not specifically based on a movie but just, "Presents," similar to Rob Zombie, The Weeknd, etc.

Universal burned a bridge with Guillermo when he pitched to spearhead the Dark Universe film series and they said no. I know it's not a serious guess, just wanted to make sure people knew it is most likely improbable

They just had a 5-year run of Monster houses before taking a break this year. They're aware of its popularity and success.





See? Now a storybook house that features Cat Lady is a lot better than a full-on Cat Lady house IMO. Have Universal create its own tales for the house.

Then sell the book. $$$
