It'd be pretty dumb to save it for last. Think of Stranger Things (all three years), Weeknd 2022, Halloween 2022, and Last of Us. All of those were the big IP's for their years and they were announced fairly early on which probably helped the GP plan their visit out early enough since they end up getting wind of the IP announcement and are then interested in going. Don't know if I worded all that well enough but the point is, the earlier a big IP is announced, the more time it has to gain traction.

HHN26’s largest IP, American horror story, was announced last I believe.

Large IPs are often used as a "nail in the coffin" to get people to commit to a trip.

HHN24's final announcement was Halloween and it's why we decided to finally attend. That and AvP.

Also sometimes they don’t get that final approval till later and so the announcement is later.

Spanish language haunted mansion maze actually based on an urban legend?

It's sounding like a high concept, standalone original. I don't think it's based on a specific legend per se. The term getting thrown around for it is one of my favorite things--gothic--which is kind of an all-encompassing term that means it could be inspired by any number of things.

And, to clarify, I'm using the term "gothic" in the storytelling sense: ambiguous mystery, slow-burn descents into madness, hard to explain visions. I'm not referring to architecture or the previous HHN house.

I don’t know. The usual things in place for tickets to go on sale are not in place for multi night tickets… they are in place for single night tickets and have been for 6 days.

Fallout first, then Terrifier, then WWE, then FNAF, then Friday the 13th. That's my guess for the schedule.

Guessing this.

Terrifier > WWE > Originals (honestly could be either/or for WWE or Originals first) > Fallout > Scarezones + Live Entertainment > Jason Universe > FNAF

It’s the one that isn’t art and has spent decades breaking down the public’s ability to distinguish between reality and fantasy while glorifying and enriching some of the worst people imaginable, including one individual who has been credibly accused of sexual assault, sex trafficking, and elaborate coverups.

Maybe you don't care much for the IP, but for a lot of fans, it's a fun day and would've made a splash with them and that's who they want to grab the attention of, the fans. But whatever. Not expecting F13 to get an announcement on Friday the 13th, with the biggest reasoning being that, they're just not that smart from a marketing standpoint.

I may be biased but I'd like to swap out Terrifier for a Captain Spaulding house, LOL!

This may be a silly statement or question, that had already also been answered...but I've heard a lot about an icon, and possibly it being a new icon. Things I've heard range from the killustrator to me possibly thinking Nathaniel Crowe since we have a raven and eyeball on the merch already. Anyone have more insight on this piece?

I wouldn’t expect an icon this year.

I swear if Aiello ruins the post 2021/HHN 30 icon streak (Pumpkin Lord 2022 > Oddfellow 2023 > Sinister & Surreal 2024) I'll be so annoyed. Ugh. Hot take but I really enjoyed Sinister and Surreal despite the execution being iffy. I rather have a mid level icon than no icon at all.

And that’s how you water down icons. Try to do it with full commitment or don’t do it at all.

If there’s no icon, there better be a darn strong unifying aesthetic to the merch. 2024 was pretty bad.

I would hope for something at the level of 28/29 or 31 at least. The 80s aesthetic of the former, and traditional Halloween look and feel of the latter really plussed the entire event and personally lifted all of the component parts up substantially.

31 would've still been an incredibly thematically consistent event without Pumpkin Lord. It was better with him there, but the event itself was thematically strong enough to stand without an Icon if it had come down to that imo. I hope we see something similar.

33 was a uniquely terrible year for consistent theming. Sinister and Surreal in the front half of the park, completely different identity towards the back; Otis on the digital marketing; Skull Punk, Major Sweets, and Lil Boo competing for merch space; a post-apocalyptic Tribute Store; Circus live show; it felt like none of the different departments spoke with the other departments and it just resulted in a thematic mess. Even the strongest Icons couldn't save an event like that, and frankly, I didn't think Sinister and Surreal were very strong at all.

Agreed, I would vastly prefer having no icon over half-baked ones. Since the half-baked ones like S&S can bring an event down, while years such as 28 and 29 show that you don't need an icon to be a good year.

This is almost surely a reference to Quinta del Sordo: Quinta del Sordo - Wikipedia

It seems from this clue that Quinta del Sordo - the home of Goya, where he painted the Black Paintings, including the most famous of Saturn Devouring His Son - is the inspiration for the house. That would explain the Spanish references as well as the artist references, if Goya and his home were the jumping off point for the house (and then, likely based on what Legacy and others have said, the house took on its own personality and stopped being an "artist house."). I certainly think a Saturn Devouring his Son scareactor would be incredible, and even the high concept of someone going crazy in their manor and having everything inside become horrifyingly alive is really, really cool.
