how many sets? how many places will the house have? that's what matters. and that it won't repeat the first house too much.

The game takes place almost entirely in Seattle (which is never visited in the first game). The set-pieces are incredibly varied and different.

I'm over here pointing out that Exorcist Believer was a good house and the fourth Insidious house centered on the not-great fifth entry was an all-timer. Do we need to relitigate whether TLOU 2 had a good story or not? It'll probably make a good house.

I really don't get how what you're saying correlates to what I said but alright. TLoU 2 is a much different game than the first and a house adaption of it wouldn't be a carbon copy of the 2023 house. If it 100% happens I'm sure the house will be amazing.

when the second game came out I remember it had some controversy over the plot and the characters (I remember the drama) and also even right now in here there is some debate about the quality of the game itself, but none of that will really matter since the only thing that really matters for the house is how varied and different from the first house was.

I will have to catch a playthrough of the game to see how it unfolds, but the point I was making is that the quality of the story ( good or bad) has nothing to do with how the house will play out, the only thing I was thinking about is how different it would be, and I'm glad to see your replies,
I'll watch the playthrough and see how it goes.

it can go the opposite way too. silent hill and resident evil had good plots but the houses weren't as greatly received from what I remember, I remember some people being disappointed.

And speaking of which, If the Last of Us comes back, I hope they could use this song by Pearl Jam to play, since the Grunge scene was founded in the Seattle area at Washington State. That’d be a win for me, they even reference the Singles movie in the game too.

Haven't played the second game, and honestly thought the first TLoU house was unfortunately closer to mid than I was hoping. Despite that, I love the idea of bringing the series back to HHN and I think the fact that we're hearing rumblings about this so incredibly early in the speculation cycle (We're not even a full month out from 33's closing!) has me very, very hopeful for a more substantial IP lineup this time around.

I’ve heard enough about this IP to confident enough in giving it a November clue.

There’s been a little chatter that Universal made a point to lock IPs early this year both because of the failed reliance on FNAF and Six Flags suddenly demonstrating an ability to horn in on Universal’s IP game. It makes sense, though I haven’t heard enough specific IPs (with enough veracity) to know it’s true.

Here's hoping all of this is true. This could honestly be best case scenario for fans. Kind of a good example of the whole "Competition rises all ships" thing. If Universal suddenly feels the need to strive for more this year, then count me excited for what's to come.

Lol, then I assume hoping for FNAF at this point is pointless?

Good time for this question, does anyone know if Fright fest has multi year deals with these IPS they had this year? If so then we can assume as long as the contract persists, the more years it won’t be at HHN. This could eventually narrow down Spec a lot…

The Last of Us Part II is probably one of my favourite games of all time, even if the story is gruelling and leaves me feeling utterly depressed and empty by the end (which is kinda the point - it’s not a satisfying journey and not a satisfying ending because of the choices of certain characters to do what they did). I however have a few misgivings about it returning so quickly to the event, and how it was handled last time. There’s also the link in to the series which could severely limit what is likely to be in the house.

For starters, think the second half of the game will be off limits - that will be saved for the third season tie in at the event (so no Rat King which I absolutely need to see - they could probably do a whole house based on that sequence alone!).

It needs to be different to the first house also, so think the “neighbourhood”, “hotel” and “sewer” sections won’t make an appearance this year.

So what does that leave us with?

I think we will have the brutal cold opening scene (no spoilers for those watching the series without having played the game). It sets up the story arc and is pivotal to the second game. It’s also a visually stunning set which would work well as the facade, before seeing the logo and starting my the house proper (think a quiet place from this year).

The underground train sequence could work well, but may feel too similar to Descendents of Destruction at HHN31.

The conference centre would be a decent section to cover too - different enough from the first house, gives plenty of opportunities for clickers and stalkers, as well as setting up the serephites which could follow in a forest section.

There’s also the hospital section, which could be used as the spores section of the house to build up to the ending which, hopefully actually does have a proper big ending rather than just suddenly ending like the first house did. I understand that was for a few different reasons but hopefully lessons have been learned.

I doubt they will include any of the theatre or aquarium sections.

There’s plenty of material to play with, but for the house to really work they need to fix the issues of the previous house; the biggest one being how wide open and bright the house felt. As a huge fan of the games I felt the house accurately covered the visual aspects well, but it missed the intensity and at times claustrophobic feel I was hoping for. Hopefully some of the above settings will rectify that, though do think the better sequences are in the second half of the game unfortunately.

I think we need to wait for the TV show to come out to figure out what parts can and probably won't be in the house tbh. Even putting that aside, it's based on the video game not the show. So in my opinion (regardless if it's covered in the show after season 2 or not) nothing should be off limits. So sections like the Rat King I think should absolutely be in the house. For me, I think the house should start with the important golfing scene (IYKYK) then: Seattle (The Gate/Downtown) > Eastbrook Elementary > KMAB 13 News Station > The Tunnels > The Forest (Abby Day 1) > Seattle Hospital basement > end the house with the confrontation at the Pinnacle theater. Most of these parts will most likely be in season 2 anyway, but in my opinion that's the best way to do a TLoU 2 house. I made a whole outline for it lol.

A TLOU2 house is likely going to focus on one or two locations, similar to how the first house only focused on a single level. That means the opening is out, the ending is out, and you’re likely getting location(s) that BOTH Ellie and Abby visit. Obvious answer is the Hospital. Hospital gives you WLF and every zombie type. You can have forests before the hospital to include some Seraphites, but I wouldn’t expect more than a scene of that. The Gate facade.

Everyone expected the first house to try and capture the entire game. It didn’t. While a TLOU2 house could probably capture “more” than the first one… I imagine they’re going to limit themselves again.

I think if they don't include the golfing scene that would be very lame. It's a very important part of the story and sets up everything. It should be the opening scene. Only needs one room and then you can go to Seattle and do everything else

I mean… did they show Joel getting saddled with Ellie after Tess dies? That’s a pretty important scene too.

I get the desire for that specific scene, but think about from a business perspective: If I’m building a haunted house, and I’m about to drop $500,000 to design, build, decorate, and cast a scene (of which I have a limited number), do I want to spend that money on something with no logical scares? That question becomes more important when it’s not actually setting up an unknown story. The people who have played the game (and seen season 2), know what starts it. The people who don’t don’t NEED to know for the rest of a house that doesn’t focus on character motivations.

I mean... with that logic they shouldn't have included the Lee death scene in AQP this year lol. If they want they can add a scare at the end of that scene with a clicker to transition from the mansion to Seattle so there's a scare there. Also I would say there's a huge difference between Tess's death and this... Joel was a huge part of the first TLoU house. Especially in Hollywood. If you don't think it's necessary that's your opinion but for me I think it is. At the end of the day it's up to Neil Druckmann and the HHN team whether or not it's included. I wouldn't be surprised if Neil wanted it in the house
