I feel like with the Killer Klowns game coming out this year a sequel house could be more likely than ever. I really loved the scare zone and felt like the house was lacking.

Edit: My Facebook feed just showed me what I posted a year ago today.

Sometimes you have to realize when something is niche and just be okay with it. Demon slayer only made $10M in its little theatrical stint and then fell off extremely quick.

I get that it can be hard when in your bubble, you know a ton of people who love anime. I really enjoy VR for example and have a ton of friends who do as well. But I’m also well aware that it’s still very niche and always will be.

I'm a middle school teacher who knows all of the high schoolers as well from my town where the adults certainly aren't anime people (mostly blue collar workers and lots of migrants as well), and there isn't a single kid in my school who doesn't know what demon slayer is at least and who couldn't tell you who the two main characters are, even if they don't watch it or anime in general. I feel like the youth would show up for sure (and I personally would die of happiness)

I'm not saying that makes it mainstream as opposed to niche, just food for thought. I personally don't know that it falls into either category, more "mid" as the kids say in terms of exposure.

I never said it wasn't popular. The differentiator between something like The Weeknd and Demond Slayer is that The Weeknd is widely popular across many different age groups and is a worldwide superstar. Demon Slayer may have it's core base and they may be big fans of it, but if people who aren't into anime haven't even heard of it in many cases (I know I would have no idea what it is had it not had a few theatrical releases of TV episodes put together) then it's not breaking necessarily fully into the mainstream either.

Also, if the core group is made up of a large younger audience, then what is Universal going to do with that? They want people coming in that are going to spend money and buy alcohol, not just come in because there's an IP they like and call it a night. Again, i'm not saying anime isn't becoming more mainstream in recent years, but we're still working our way there in the US. Let me know when Demon Slayer goes to USJ HHN then maybe i'll believe there's a chance it comes here. Point being there, if anime isn't even making it to HHN in a country where anime is extremely popular, what makes you guys think it will make it to HHN here?

I am going to bring it up but, has anyone stopped to wonder even if DS is right..why it’s even being entertained creatively and on a marketability level?

Think it’s good to mention: but Universal Hollywood has seemingly been gauging atleast for them, on the prospects of Universal Cool. Let’s assume it’s coming to HHN, couldn’t it be a potential test pilot to gauge reactions and feedback on if a Universal Cool domestically could be viable? Especially with a premium experience built up to show what could be capable domestically with Asian IPs.

Would border on the question of why now, but I think it is worth considering given the success of Demon Slayer XR and how much of a crowd interest this is for Japan. Another point in favor could lie in the relationships with Aniplexs owner, Sony, having a understanding with Universal through the works of the 2010s with Evil Dead 2013 and Ghostbusters 2019.

And let’s assume if Blumhouse has Insidious, wouldn’t it be based on the one being distributed with Sony directly aiding? They may already be present for just one element alone this year on HHN.

Could it be just a shared Original Japanese/Asian concept? Sure! Could it be Demon Slayer? I think there’s some reason to consider it, but something makes me curious in why Demon Slayer. Especially as HNN seemed intent to put Japanese Creatures for both coasts.

The Blue Collar-Working Class culture have always been related to the norm world and Middle America. The anime fanbase isn’t largely not related to those things, but I wouldn’t call it niche per se.

It’s not. Universal is using it to find leakers and based it on PRIOR HHN speculation. Universal is using the HHN echo chamber against itself. Hence my Khalid gif, y’all played yourselves.

Conversely just because you might not like something personally and it isn’t big in your bubble that doesn’t make it niche. To stick with the music analogy of The Weeknd, I think most would consider Ariana Grande mainstream but at the same time it’s likely that she’s not even remotely popular in the bubble of a middle aged white dude from West Virginia. That doesn’t make her niche though.

Like I said anime isn’t my forte and my familiarity with the show is casual at best, nor do I think it would make for a good house at all, it’s not even a horror IP really (and it doesn’t matter because it’s not coming anyway). But to pretend that it isn’t big right now and wouldn’t bring in crowds if it ever did get a house somehow someday just because there Isn’t overlap with the people on this forum and the show’s fanbase is grossly underestimating it in my opinion.

We've beaten this topic to death. If you want to continue it, take it here.

Anime at Universal Parks & Resorts

Back in Spring Break of this year when I was waiting for Poseidon’s Fury to open after a delay, there were 3 people next to me that work for Universal and they were having a conversation stating that Universal may bring anime experiences to either Epic Universe or Universal Studios Florida...

Chucky was played by actors back in 2009. I believe Universal stated that guests were going to be "shrunk" down to Chucky's size, which would explain why Chucky was larger than he actually is. (Don't quote me on that tho lol)

Worth noting finally, he did the sculpt for the most commonly used Chucky mask/iteration we've seen and mentioned he was never particularly thrilled with how the proportions came out. He also possesses molds for the original Chucky and Tiffany.

Solid 70% on V1.0 - I'm giving 70% because Evil Dead was technically correct.

Just a reminder that if you don’t know the source material, just treat it like an original. After 30 years, way more houses of all types were good than bad.

Weeknd is a great example for me. I hate his music, and am not familiar with any of his videos, and found his house to be great fun even though a couple of our runs were rather empty.

It really was an enjoyable house for me. And very different. I hate anime- I just don’t get it. If they somehow found a way to make an anime house, I’d still give it a go based on the track record, and if nothing else it would be different, for sure.

P.s. (That said, I hope we don’t have an anime house. )

I could write a dissertation on how this would be Creative’s best iteration of a music/pop star house.
