Even if it’s guessed, Rookie’s not going to confirm. Kinda takes the fun out of it.

Based off Legacy’s list, I don’t see anything nearly as divisive as Eilish. Like, really, who’s gonna be pissed if What We Do In The Shadows or Blade Runner were to happen?

Um.. has anyone considered the possibility that the out of the box IP might be The Hunger Games? Big enough IP to headline.. would definitely cause divisiveness in the HHN fan community as to whether or not it counts as horror.. I think Legacy created a fan treatment of a possible Hunger Games maze.. and I remember hearing Universal looked into acquiring the rights for a new stunt show for USH at one point..

As much as I personally would go crazy for this, it feels a little bit past its prime in terms of cultural relevance. Maybe they could go for the nostalgia angle, but it isn't really old enough for that either. Regardless, if by some miracle it did happen, I would not be upset. Although it feels like it would lend itself more to a zone than to a maze.

My final prediction is Gremlins. A little disappointed to fall back to that one after so many crazy predictions, but it would make sense. In the same way Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice were divisive, Gremlins could be as well.

Regardless if the headliner ends up being mildly interesting or massively controversial, I'm glad we have some kind of idea that it could be legitimately weird. I feel like it's easier to take these pills slow compared to taking it all at once, gives us time to prep our expectations so we don't immediately throw our hands up and say "Horror Nights has lost it!!" when it's a weird pick like My Hero or Casper. I know the Facebook groups or Reddit that don't have this info would be filled with toxicity.

I mean, go through the "Most Anticipated Houses" threads each year and look at how divisive quite literally every IP ever is. HHN 28's thread is full of people disappointed in Halloween 4, Stranger Things, and Horrors of Blumhouse. HHN 29's thread was very torn on Us, House of 1000 Corpses, Killer Klowns, and Stranger Things. Hell, Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of the most divisive houses of HHN 30.

It genuinely feels like people are forgetting how divisive almost everything is with HHN fans . A horror comedy leaning heavily on the comedy and a sci-fi movie with next to no attachment to horror would absolutely upset people.

I understood the disappointment for both Blumhouses, but all those other IPs were great fits for the event and well executed, with the exception of ST 2.

Eilish still remains a unique outlier here. That’s still the furthest they’ve almost strayed from Halloween and horror. Something like WWDITS fits into the event way better than Eilish.

Reality / Documentary type show has not been guessed?

Ozzy Osbourne has some ghost hunting show. I'm sure Discovery still does some.

Or one of those "stay the night in an abandoned building" game shows that MTV used to have.

Lord of the Rings has a TV show coming out. It's books, movies and a show.

I'd rate it at a 0.1% chance but it WOULD be decisive

If this were to happen, they would likely go for the Peter Jackson trilogy as that would be what 99% of people would prefer.

Doesn’t Miramax own it or is it strictly WB? If Miramax is involved, that might be a huge issue.

i'm not entirely sure, but i do know that the rights for both the movies and games are up for sale at present:

amazon is, not surprisingly, the top in line for bidding so i'm not sure how likely that one would be. it's already been discussed obviously but i have a gut feeling it'll be something like fnaf or scooby doo. it just feels like it's not as complicated as some think it'll be.

Once again I’m going off topic pardon me” but I’m hopeful for a new icon this year because I already said this is the year 31 which directly ties into Halloween itself, I’m hoping for someone to host the event this year possibly a pumpkin icon perhaps? I know I’ve already said this but it’s just a feeling in my gut something unexpected is happening this year. Also all this spec has been fun, it’s nice to join in a community to spec with you guys really Appreciate it.

If Stranger Things comes back, I really hope they try to fit in Season 3 at the start to make up for the last house, Season 3 had so much potential.

hot take

I'd like to see Stranger Things return. I admittedly don't love the crowd ST brings (not gatekeeping teenagers!) but I personally love the Houses. They would work better if the show had more monster designs but I really love the sets. The Russian Base would've made a great scene and Season 4 already looks like it has House potential.

Stranger Things has to be a lock, it has been 3 years since the last one - so it would be a retro retro house, ha.

This season could support two houses I dare say - the Haunted Mansion and the Siberia Camp.

A Mummy icon would fit this year, them renovating the ride right before HHN seems like intentional timing.

Chucky feels very plausible to go Cryptkeeper on for an Icon, on both coasts.

If Mancini's actively involved, alongside Douriff, I can see it jiving incredibly well for both Hollywood, Orlando, and even Singapore and Osaka if they can get those events a go for overseas. He's heavily merchandisable, and has been as iconic as other Universal Monsters due to the consistency of the character being maintained as long as it has.

Would honestly be nostalgic to see a classic horror character be the years Icon. Last time this happened was what...2009? 2007? (and even then they were joint-headlining with The Usher and Jack respectively)

Plus they absolutely killed it with the Revenge of Chucky scarezone in 28.

Penn & Teller say hi.

Seriously, are people in this fandom ever just gonna get over her *almost* previous involvement and move on??

Last time an icon was IP oriented for Florida (And I mean that as strictly for IP), I'd have to think was Cryptkeeper. While Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Jigsaw, The Wolfman and Chucky have been part of IP packaging, they aren't usually considered as the "Main" Icon like how Cryptkeeper was.

If Hollywood does it, they'd actually be ahead of the curve by about 13 years, as their last icon was Jigsaw for 2009.

I honestly think Chucky makes a lot of sense on a capital level and a marketable level. Especially with 31 being the first proper year since 2019 (HHN30 was a delayed mainline). Chucky has been one of the most successful debuts for just season one of the SYFY/USA show, they have material for the doll in houses and scarezones with Curse/Cult and CHUCKYTV, and Mancini has actively expressed his interest. That isn't even going into the merchandising that the doll gives, and just how much Mancini and Douriff made the doll as iconic as he has become.

Echoing Allison on that one, and that's not even mentioning This Is The End.

(I honestly would've loved to see Ellish, because like Penn and Teller and This is The End, it wouldn't be something typically seen or prodomimently associated with Halloween Horror Nights.
