Yeah I don’t think it’s coming but an earlier user said it would be difficult to translate. How? There is way more material and scenery to pull from than Exorcist, lol.

The new Nosferatu is just Bram Stoker's Dracula in a shiny new wrapping.. is that a bad thing? No. But is Nosferatu bringing in the $$$ to warrant a house?

Or would it just be better to give us a solo-Dracula Universal Monsters house?

I think it would.

Important to consider but it'd differ from the terms of not being properly marketed as a "Universal Monsters" IP, and would fall into that of a property of Focus Features. It'd also differ in the terms of a signifigent creative head that has been billed as a reason for people to see it (like how GDT was for Crimson Peak).

Also helps if you are trying to ensure people don't confuse what Universal Monsters will do in Vegas and Orlando, compared to that of whatever HHN would do.

It absolutely is, is the thing. It made basically as much as Krampus did in its first five days of release. It's projected to be one of the highest grossing horror movies released in 2024.

As for why you'd want it at the event in lieu of a UM Dracula: if you're a creative, you might be intrigued by how it's a very different interpretation of the classic story, and you know Murdy probably loved all the homages that movie made to the silent film. If you're a bean counter, the thing about the "A24 style" of horror is that it has a very significant audience of young, affluent people. Nosferatu's opening weekend audiences was 65% between the ages of 18-34. That's actually a bigger split than even M3gan (of course, M3gan probably had a bigger below 18 audience).

Would it come to the event? Who knows. Maybe creative still isn't interested, or maybe Eggers himself - who's very protective of his work - will be unconvinced. But  should it come to the event? I honestly think there's a case for it.

I feel like if Nosferatu did come to the event, it would have a very similar vibe to Crimson Peak from 2015.

Like I said earlier, it could work as a house....it just feels a little too pretentious and artsy for HHN's criteria. I just don't see Eggers as the kind of director that would be interested in turning the film into a haunted house. But hey, there's a first for everything.

If they do use the New York sets they could do a mini house of Nosferatu, like what holidays in hell was its first year

Then its in park pushing you to buy/watch it on peacock but isnt a full house

It's that time of the year when he's usually quiet. Let the man also have his breaks.

'Nosferatu' Isn't Clowning Around As It Passes 'Terrifier 3' at the Domestic Box Office

Nosferatu Domestic Box Office Hits 53 Million, becoming one of 2024's top horror films. Discover its record-breaking success and reviews!

I don’t think its coming (as much as I’d like for it to) but it would be really funny if Universal ends up passing on their own ip for something like Terrifier 3 lol

terrifier 3 isn't even in the top 5 of 2024 horror releases. (the lesson here is that box office is just one factor, of many, when it comes to horror nights inclusion)

The ACTUAL question is - Is it making enough money that Universal would willingly spend more on the licensing rights than they would likely have to pay for UCM Dracula?

Dumb question--but would it be more expensive even though the film is distributed by Focus Features; a subsidiary of NBCUniversal?

Likely, because the subsidiaries negotiate independently.

Yeah, not saying they couldn't/wouldn't offer a "sweetheart" deal to make it happen, but it wouldn't be the first time an affiliated subsidiary doesn't play ball with the mothership.

They did the Undertaker back in 2000. I heard it wasn’t great, but I’d be willing to give this a chance. This is definitely a choice.

This sounds like Stage 22 material, but wouldn’t it be cool if they brought it full circle and put this in the same stage where the Undertaker was at? I don’t know which stage it was at though.

It would be wild if they also do Buffy this year.

I'll repeat a bit of what I said in the HHN 34 spec thread and say I'm very much open to this coming. I'm not at all a WWE fan but look, if Weeknd can work as good as it did I dont see why this couldn't. It has a lot of potential and it would bring in a whole new audience to HHN. Also the SS the Undertaker house was in was SS36. RE: Buffy... I would cry. I love BTVS so much lol.

this is basically how i feel about horror nights at this point. i'm happy to give the team the benefit of the doubt until i've walked through it myself, regardless of how "out there" i think the IP or concept is.

I’m the same. I think WWE is too theatrical but this looks like it fits the mold of HHN and bringing properties in the spirit of something scary is exactly what I want. I don’t want thinly veiled family friendly properties.
