Sep. 6 - Nov. 4, 2024

Looks like only two houses this year (downgrade from three last year)
  1. Chucky's Carnival of Chaos (repeat from last year)
  2. Resident Evil: Night of Heroes (new 360 degree house)
  • Hollywood Dream x Ado returning from last year.
  • Death Eaters in WWoHP for the first time since 2016.
  • New Chainsaw Man 4-D show
  • The usual big dance parties with HamiKuma.
Personally I'm once again disappointed on the houses. One less from last year and this is the NINTH Chucky house at USJ and the third in a row.

Kind of a bummer they’re not just kicking the Universal Monsters house down the road another year. We quite enjoyed that one, warts and all.

God you really had to show me Chainsaw man and then RE to wash it all down.

Why can’t we get things like that here in the states…

The Japanese parks always usually get special things that the American parks won't for events like HHN. As for the things like the Chainsaw Man 4D show, it would be cool if USH could use the DWT better with a fully custom halloween show that fully takes advantage of the project mapping effects.

So, by absolute chance my trip to Japan may end up overlapping with HHN, which I am absolutely stoked about! Question, though, I haven't seemed to find any info on their website: Do Japan's HHN offerings run every single day/night through the run? I know daytime things I would assume so (Pokemon Party, etc), but was just curious about the haunts and nighttime scarezones, etc

Yep, every operating night they'll have the houses and scare zones. Glad you're able to go! It's so different than the American events but it's still a lot of fun.

I'm so glad that Pokemon are going to be back during the day as part of the Haha Halloween party. Looks like we'll get two new pokemon costumes: Litwick and Pumpkaboo. Other than mimikyu, chandelure is my favorite ghost Pokemon so I'm glad we see its evolution line even if its costume itself would be a little too tricky to pull off

The houses operate in the daytime too. I believe it's to make up for the fact that the park closes so early that "proper HHN" only lasts for 3 or 4 hours depending on the day. A big reason why this is not really a great park for HHN.

Chucky sells merch. Also he's Universal. Easy marketing icon.

Just like at USH, Chucky should be represented in some way until the end of time (same with Universal Monsters)

You're complaining about Chucky being back, but not RE? That's also more or less a staple for USJ

I mean the icon for the past few years is a teddy bear with its guts spilling out.....Chucky fits the Kawaii aesthetic. What I do love though is the House this year is related to seed of chucky.

Here's the map for "daytime spooky"

Here's the event map for HHN Japan:

And then of course the Death Eaters invading Hogsmeade with their Dark Arts..

I'm complaining about one of the very limited slots for houses at USJ being taken up by the same IP for the third year in a row. And yes I would prefer something new to RE too.

I'm cool with Chucky being present at the event, but it feels like a lack of creativity or willingness to do something different.

Japan infuses the event with something "new" every year in some way, but they're also smart to not fix what isn't broken.

Besides, RE is a staple since it's first iteration (the SZ). It's also better than TWD

Also they "might" be needing to watch their current budget too.

Wow, for the first time ever at USJ, this year's HHN will feature an all-night event on October 18 from 10:00 PM-5:00 AM.

Glad they're experimenting with this as HHN at USJ is hurt badly by the early park close every night.

Out of curiosity, I can't seem to find anything online about the houses this year requiring a ticket as they have in the past? I know previous HHN houses required you to get an entry ticket similar to SNW. We are debating if we need to be there to rope drop it. We will already have had a full Uni day, so basically just coming back for HHN stuff, which if we don't need to get a ticket at rope drop, I have no fears about completing in a single day.

Last year I joined a virtual queue for Resident Evil, but otherwise just waited in a handful of very short queues for everything else.

Yeah I think it's only select houses. Most of them are just standard queues, and the houses are open all day.

Keep dreaming. All we got was a mediocre house in 2013

If anyone's curious, this commercial shows where most of the focus is for HHN in Japan.

TikTok dancing? Yes. Halloween horror? Meh.

You completely forget that Japan has an entirely different cultural mindset. And honestly, the ad isn't bad. It's fun & misleading. They're not marketing to the U.S., they're marketing to Japan.

Anyway... event videos

Nothing to do with the TikTok crowd, just pure stupid fun with their monsters. "A break from the spooky"
