It has been officially revealed, that Legendary Pictures (Detective Pikachu, Pacific Rim, Godzilla, E.T.C.) will be developing a Live Action Adaptation of the iconic Japanese series, Gundam.

Sunrise, Legendary Announce Live-Action Gundam Film - News - Anime News Network

The film will be Co-Produced with Sunrise (responsible for the original Gundam projects), as it was officially revealed at this year's Anime Expo in Los Angeles, California. Cale Boyter from Legendary appeared on-stage, with Mitsuaki Taguchi (Bandai Namco) and Yasuo Miyakawa attended the panel to make the reveal in-person.

No release date, or choice of production company was announced.

What do you think? Are you aware of the name of Gundam as a brand, and if so; are you excited for the Legendary/Sunrise project? Comment down below!

Nearly 3 years have passed, and we now have an official writer and director combo: That being Brian K Vaughn (Y: The Last Man, The Runaways [Marvel], and Lost) and Jordan-Vogt Robert, the director of Kong: Skull Island and the currently attached director for Metal Gear Solid.

The massive bit of news in this Legendary Pictures adaptation, is that this is heading directly to Netflix as they will be the releasing party for this, beating out Universal and Warner Bros (took us nearly three years, @quinnmac000, but we've made it).

I just want to know where Netflix is getting all of this money they are throwing around. It's like they are playing with monopoly money and have long gone bankrupt (they've never been a profitable company) and yet the bank still keeps giving them money.

Ehhh....this is like the Knives out Deal where they are doling out 200 million while Legendary gets to keep all the ownership while Netflix gets distribution rights. I do find it interesting that Netflix is now buying outside again despite them saying we don't want to buy outside studios stuff when we have an ecosystem to produce shows/movies in house.

Nearly 4 years later; Legendary Pictures is finally moving forward with their live action adaptation of Gundam; with Sydney Sweeney starring.
