Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster (USH) - Opening 2026

As someone who was there, neither. It was on the very 4th of July of 2019.

Yup. I remember that day very well. Waited around all afternoon for softs and had to dip out for July 4th plans. Literally one hour after decided to call it and leave, I looked on my phone and saw softs happened. To say that I was annoyed was an understatement.

But it worked out. I literally went the next day, waited over an hour and got to ride lol

I've heard that Intamin reps have been at the park the last few days. That signals to me that the park wants all cars drifting the way they are supposed to at all times. Also, mechanically making sure everything is structurally 100 percent ready to go.

Universal isn't going to put up with extended down time like a SF park would. This ride needs to have significant uptime.

Other than that, it could soft open any day. lol

I think you dodged a bit of a bullet within that window, cause I think the ride broke down for a good while, at least from my perspective since I was in the express line and nothing was moving for several minutes but they still wanted to let through those already in the queue.

It’s really any day now after the 4th of July weekend, there won’t be an announcement for soft, and I suppose after the whole initial hype over soft they will say the opening date

I do want to point out that mid July the USH calendar went from closing at 10 pm to now 9 pm

I believe USH has done this before as well but it’s also not the best sign because you do assume once this ride opens the park should see a boost in guests and why we’d get extended hours and now that it’s back to 9 pm

I just once again hope we see soft opening but as someone pointed out it’s been like 2 months of people saying any day now

Welp that's not a great sign.

If we do not get any softs this week, I wonder if they'll just bypass previews and just open it. For passholders I can see them either doing after-hours "previews" or having their AP scheduled slot be their express pass.

....or they could just forget the APs.

Come to think of it, I don't think we've even gotten the third car magnet yet. Guess they're coming after the ride opens at this point.

Is Universal the only major theme park that just randomly kinda opens a ride without a set date? I feel like Disney always has a firm date, with the possibility of soft opening and previews beforehand.

Six Flags did something similar with Tormenta, randomly posted softs and then had the actual opening date on the sign for the softs lol

I don't think they officially announced anything until that sign was posted online. My only real complaint is how quiet they are being about all of this, it seems like even universal doesn't know what's going.

I just watched a Video on Universal Japan

They have a coaster called the Space Fantasy, it allows you to choose a different music/theming option

1) Would be sooooo cool if some day we get a HHN an Fan Fest Version of this ride
2) With the minimum themeing, god to I wish this was the the kind of theming we got for the coaster anyway, what I mean is you want this to be Fast and Furious.....audio then enjoy but let me have a Back to the Future Coaster

I know many here won't agree with number 2 but with how much they did not want to theme the Q, building and ride.....I just wish they went the route where this coaster who gimmick was you get to choose the theme but at the very least hope somehow we get other versions of this coaster audio for HHN, or Fan fest would be a good use of the ride once the hype dies down to keep the line longer

This isn't really accurate. Space Fantasy doesn't allow you to choose the music or theming option, but it cycles out various overlays fairly frequently. Many of these overlays involve VR headsets that halve the ride's capacity. Right now, they're doing an overlay that's basically the existing theming with a few new projections to tie it into "Club Zedd." (It rules, we went on it five times over the course of our 1.5 days in May.) It seems they barely run vanilla Space Fantasy anymore.

It's a better ride than Revenge of the Mummy, though, and it replaced USJ's ET Adventure, so... never say never.

In the meantime, I can't imagine Universal is thrilled their summer plan for the park is basically in tatters at this point. It could get an opening announcement date tomorrow and they'll still have missed half the season.
