Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster (Opening 2026)

I feel like you guys are underestimating how much this will drive ticket sales from locals.

People who haven’t been in several years are going to come just to go on this, and will probably really enjoy the park. The general public is pretty shallow when it comes to what they think makes a good park. I mean, almost everyone I’ve talked to IRL (outside of theme park fans) about USH at some point brought up how mad they were that Mario Kart isn’t a coaster.

I’ve had SO many people who aren’t really tapped into theme parks bring up this coaster, and every time I’m in the park and we pass it the people I’m with stop whatever they’re doing in awe to comment on how great it’s going to be.

I have a feeling the GP is going to come, ride the coaster and think it’s the greatest thing they’ve ever been on, then experience the rest of the park and realize how much has been added the last several years. It might not get a lot of tourists, but it’s definitely going to result in a lot of impressed locals.

For less then 200 bucks right now you can get an AP for both park's with parking

I'm just confused on why anyone would come to USH for one coaster when you can support two parks that have 10+ amazing coasters.

Also I know the coaster community should love this coaster there is no doubt there but I'm mostly pointing out there are factors right now out of USH hands and they aren't getting better....while many think we are in a Recession now, in 6 months if we aren't fully there then I'd be surprised. I don't think people understand how Inflation is just going to keep going up, that includes rent, your electric bill and medial costs and I just think the economy thats not even mentioning if LA has ICE take over again which has been bad for most businesses near those areas

Disneyland is literally selling 3 Single Day Park Hoppers for 250 bucks....cheaper then most park hoppers at one day next year because even Disney see's the writing on the walls but anyway for now they are predictions and hope things get better but.....I see zero signs of the economy making it easier for people to come to USH next year but I hope I'm wrong and this is a huge draw because a Win for USH means hopefully we get more attractions sooner then later

As far as an increase in APs go, yeah this will absolutely bump up AP sales. I know of a couple of friends who didn’t care about the park much said they will buy an AP just for this coaster. It will be popular.

From my own personal experience, I can testify to this as well. Quite a few people I know who live locally and don't tend to bother with USH are absolutely stoked about this coaster, some talking about finally getting APs, and I have friends out of state who either haven't been to USH in years or only come so we can go to HHN together who want to come out next year just to ride this. The hype is definitely there and mounting.

People are starting to have a "Screw it" mentality when it comes to enjoying what little they have to enjoy anymore. Life sucks for a lot of people. But as we can see, whether it's Disneyland still bringing in swarms of people or HHN being sold out in every conceivable way, people are willing to stack the credit cards because, at this point, what do they have to lose if everything's going to hell anyway. "Might as well enjoy it while I can!" sort of thing.

For a lot of people, SFMM is just too far away. Plus, it's basically exclusively coasters. Outside of them, there's not much else to do.

Knott's is better about this, but even its coaster line up doesn't have anything as impressive as this is going to be.

You ask why people would come to USH for one coaster, as if they're all the same. This one isn't. It's long, it's a great setting, and the spinning while upside-down is a one of a kind (in California, anyway). It's unique, one of a kind coaster that no other park in the world has. That's a pretty big draw.

I know lots of non-coaster people whose primary (admittedly, not only) reason to visit USF is Velocicoaster.

F&F will be the biggest public-level addition on visibility since Hogwarts in 2016 (and like the Hotel will in a few years). The visual dominance this coaster will bring, alongside it being in a easily accessible area for the GP (be if your driving or using public transport), combined with this being the first truly massive and "big" coaster for the LA-Community since Tatsu, will make it a hook.

Add in the fact that this is the debut of prototype intamin, and people from considerable distances will be coming down to see it; because of the reputation Intamin has gained over the past decade for their insanity.

The growing sentiment I’m seeing is massive hype and people saying stuff like “Whelp, time to book a trip to California, lol” and “Finally a reason to go to USH!” and “This attraction might be a top 10”. Ive seen people from Japan say they’re flying over here once it opens.

People are over the damn moon for this thing. If it really delivers on the insanity, this might be a way bigger deal than any of us are expecting. I love Mario (I hate Fast & Furious), but lil bro is probably gonna be a “supporting ” attraction once this opens. Though funny thing to note, this coaster might uniconically boost SNW merch sales because of the influx of people coming to ride this, realizing; Mario is also in the same damn park. Ironic.

USH has never received a ride like this and it may potentially bring a new demographic to the park. Where the coaster enthusiasts go, the GP will follow.

And as I said earlier, this coaster will make the park feel more complete. Now we have three tiers of coasters. Flight of the Hippogriff is the junior coaster (great ride btw LOL), Mummy is the family coaster, and now we finally have our proper thrill coaster. This will take the load off Mummy as the park’s thrill coaster (I think I’ll also appreciate it more lol). This is complimented by Super Nintendo World being a much needed family addition.

I know it sounds silly to say about just one ride (and the park needs way more work to become truly great in my eyes). But I do genuinely think this attraction will bring the park truly together (as it currently stands). Its going to bounce off of like every attraction in the park (especially if its as bonkers as we’re hoping).

100% agree on every word. Once this is open, USH becomes a full-day park with mass appeal to every demographic and a wide range of the most iconic IP’s on the planet.

Once Simpsons is torn to shreds and dead and buried and gone forever never to be seen again and has been replaced with a modern land with an actual dark ride, this is basically my perfect park. The only things I could want past that point are fantasies like Kong being restored, a new ET ride and a Hollywood Dark Universe.

Agreed. The best thing I think F&F is going to do, is that it's going to make a *statement* and a precedent to what people look at with USH now. While the boom the park got from SNW should be great, I think there's a even bigger one coming for F&F due to it's simplicity and due to the identity it brings. It allows USH to fully become a full-day park, and combined with the security bubble and improvements for Citywalk incoming in the months leading to opening, should allow people a reason to make that full commitment to come to property.

Hopefully it won't be the only thing done for USH however, as we kind of need to get our feet on the ground for what's next sooner than later (And that it can't just be a hotel).

I know you're talking about GP and this is a very thoosie thing to say, but they really don't have anything like this. It's a multi-launch Intamin with controlled spinning cars! Nobody really has anything like this, honestly. And the movements being such a great match for the theme and location is the cherry on top.

On another note, I think it's a mistake to have too much of a top-down view of IPs, where everything flows from the popularity of the last film. I think Uni views their in-house IPs as transmedia properties, and this coaster alone might boost the value of F&F as a franchise. Wolf Man being a flop didn't make them reskin Darkmoor or cancel the Scooby crossover. Fast cars, like monsters, are evergreen.

I know I'm personally planning a visit to the park to ride this thing. The setting alone makes it one of a kind. Drifting around a hillside with the best views at any amusement park? Yes please. We will never see anything like this again.

Who knows about attendance boosts, I guess. I ultimately only care insofar as I'd like USH to continue to make enough money to operate and expand. But I do think there'll be a sustained benefit to this ride being there in terms of how it diversifies the ride line-up and provides something that's way more re-rideable than most things in the current roster (assuming you can handle spinning, or, in my case, can get a refill of your prescription-strength anti-nausea pills).

I know it will be difficult to pull off, but I would say the park needs just one more coaster to "top it off" and that would ideally be an intermediate family thrill coaster. Something like Hagrid's or Hiccup's. Although I think the Mummy will stick around for a little while, it won't be there forever.

Something like Hagrid's or Hiccup's. Although I think the Mummy will stick around for a little while, it won't be there forever.

My thing with Mummy is that it serves a purpose. Mummy is still gonna keep people coming long after HD because there will be plenty who are way too scared to ride it.

Even though I don’t care for it, maybe all it really needs is an extensive refurbishment to make it feel new. Heavily updated Mummy + an outdoor intermediate would be very ideal. That way we have one (very intense) kid coaster, two family coasters, one outdoor and one indoor, and then the thrill coaster.
