Is this a hard watch if you haven't played the games?

If anything, seems better received by those of us who went into it with zero pre-conceived ideas. I thought the story and universe were easy enough to follow -- there are mysteries but there are meant to be, that's what builds dramatic tension -- and I wasn't hung up on the fact some things apparently slightly contradict the game.

The darker tone from the first episode makes Fallout S2E1 much more horror laced than the entirety of the first season. Really excited to see how dark the tone of the season gets.

Also really happy we're back to the week by week element.

Didn't hate it as much as you apparently, but yeah, slow and ultimately pointless -- the narrative drive of Ella's quest really drove the first season, this season gets bogged down with too many convoluted side plots, none of which are actually resolved by the end. Also, the more non-1950s sci-fi elements (The Legion comes to mind) come off as corny, even in this corny, dark comedy world.

I'll at least start season 3 solely for Walton Goggins, but going to take a serious turn-around to get me as excited as a I was for season 2.

They are trying to stay true to the games which I appreciate, I didn't love how many unanswered questions there are and how every episode there is seemingly two more. Wouldn't be as bad if I didn't have a wait a year plus for season three. Probably couldve benefited for like a 12 episode season or something.

I still love Ella and the Ghoul ( thank God their actors are so good) but everything outside of them is just painful to watch. just so boring and not only boring but also so dull.
the vault stuff last season was interesting and cool but here just so annoying. the flashbacks were so annoying.

I do Love Ella, she's literally the only reason I finished it.

I moderately enjoyed this season, but I literally didn't catch up between episodes 2 and 7 until I had a backlog of episodes, which was a big contrast to finishing the first season in 2-3 days. This season felt a lot emptier and didn't develop the characters nearly as much aside from Cooper's backstory. Norm's story in particular was underdeveloped, and the vault storyline didn't feel fleshed out enough.

Amazon really botched this season's rollout going against Stranger Things and Avatar in the sci-fi sphere. I'm not even sure it will sustain buzz into Emmys voting and can see it losing a bunch of nominations from Season One. It's probably a good thing we seemingly aren't getting Fallout back at HHN this year.
