These photos are a bit old, but it looks like they're only replacing the pavement with brickwork that matches the adjacent CityWalk lot. Oh - and they've added trees as well.

The new palm trees that are replacing the planters

This is all going to be done very fast. By the new year

The tile from the first few pictures up there by the entrance gates has already been replaced

I'm curious as to what this new construction is.  Are they simply making the park's entrance look prettier in time for Potter?

They're replacing the floor

Took out the planters

Took out a ticket booth and will take out the other one next to the red carpet soon

And theyre gonna add self service ticket machines

They really should have an app or something like Disneyland where you can just purchase your tickets on your phone and scan the barcode. But that will probably never happen.

Any estimate on when this refurbishment is completed? The crowds this morning backed up past the Universal Globe. It was a bit of a mess.

That's a shame. 

Speaking of which they also added some more of those shorter palm trees against the current larger palm trees planted along the red carpet. Can't imagine those are staying much longer.
