Thanks to technology, we can bring Fantasy(land) worlds to life on the big/small screen.. I'm not a fan of excessive CGI because if it can be done practical, it should.

With that being said, I'd love to see the Disney classics brought to life in live-action. However, they've got this problem of making unnecessary changes (or turning Villains into victims/anti-heros they never were). I have not been a fan of the live-actions (except Aladdin, it was almost perfect). They don't "try".

101 Dalmations was made in the 90s & despite a few changes, it was iconic & faithful. Glenn Close will always be Cruella

I honestly doubt I'll even watch this Snow White on D+ out of morbid curiosity.

Boy Disney has experience quite a reckoning with this movie. I knew this was going to do bad but…..holy cow.

I would like to believe this should be a lesson to Disney to quit with these lazy, soul sucking, uninspired lazy live action remakes and instead put some money to something creative, something creative.

Also, this is more towards Hollywood in general but WTH is up with these out-of-control budgets!?! I’m no accountant by any means but do they really need to spend this much money on a movie!?

Well, Hollywood just went on strike a couple of years ago saying they weren't getting paid enough, so there's that.

I actually enjoyed the movie? New songs were pretty good, dwarves CGI much improved since first look, and I didn't think the changes to the story were anywhere near as bad as it could've been. Even Gal Gadot was decent.

I think that a different actress could have done a better job. specially a professional singer lol. it was baffling to me that Disney didn't hire an actress that was trained to sing.
gal might be lovely in wonder woman but it was a miscast for this role.

Hopefully this slaps some sense into Disney to knock it off with the live action remakes and instead prioritize more original content. Not holding my breath though.

Unfortunately, Lilo & Stitch will probably be a hit and they will immediately change their minds

No. It was garbage & ruined everything.. also the CGI beast was offensive when Broadway gave us amazing prosthetic makeup (except for the terrible budget-cut current tour).

They had planned to film the stage production years ago, but didn't. *sigh*

nope. Not even close. They ruined B&TB. The animated has always been one of my favorites. The unnecessary backstory about Belle's mother. Completely changed the romantic library scene entirely. Autotune. Poor use of CGI. Awful costumes, especially the iconic dress. Not using songs from the musical. Easiest animated/story to adapt, but they screwed it up.

I refuse to watch Mulan. That live-action brought dishonor to everyone, including her cow.

As for Snow White, I'll stick with Universal's adaptation & The Huntsman. Same goes for Peter Pan (2003?)

Admittedly, that was an oversimplification on my part. But everyone keeps saying that budgets are out of control these days and I haven’t really heard anyone offer any potential solutions to this since we don’t know where these funds are going towards.

I have to imagine there's institutional overcharging in Hollywood productions the same way there's institutional overcharging in Imagineering or institutional "surprise" overages in construction.

There's a saying in the movie business that "you can see the money on screen." It doesn't apply to all major productions.

Saw SW on Friday. I don't think it was horrible (Rachel was great, I'm an Andrew Burnap fan from theatre), but this was a movie that was edited to death.

So many moments could've been worlds better if more thought was put into framing & camera angles that make musicals really sing, for lack of a better word. Big moments like Evil Queen turning into the hag were just meh with weird staging and scene choices.

Bigger moments like Snow standing up to her and saving the townspeople were just as womp womp. We need a little more building - some slightly higher stakes - in order for us to see how huge of a deal it was for the townspeople to finally wake up and fight back. Though it was more like, stand behind Snow and do nothing.

It really does seem like a lot was cut to trim for time and taste (??) and I'm not sure if that worked in their favor.

Choreo was bad. I'm sorry. At one point, the camera turns to a squad of soldiers who just...step. They take a step to the side from an overhead distance. And that's what the movie focuses on during a huge, supposedly lavish "look at me!" villain anthem by the Queen. Worse, the soldiers are the ones occupying the actual court ballroom floor?! When the dancers and Queen are just dancing in place on the steps? C'mon, if you're gonna have a grand staircase, at least use it for something interesting!

I don't think Gal's lack of sass or spice helped here, but the weird choreo and bad camera tracking made it exponentially worse.

It makes you appreciate what Steven Spielberg did to capture the magic (again!) in West Side Story. Or even Kenneth Branagh with Cinderella. You feel like you're a part of it when you're watching - swept up in the movement. This was just visually and artistically bland.

New songs were fine.
