Supposedly they are looking at at the DAK resort area (All-Stars, AKL, Coronado, Blizzard Beach and Animal Kingdom) as well since the only mode over there is buses.
Reedy Creek actually has a rule that key trip generators need to have two forms of transportation. So this would make sense as DAK is currently not in line with that rule.

Once foundations are in the people who build these do so in a matter of weeks. It's how they work. And since it's. It about clearing land on a mountain it'll go faster. They don't have to air lift in the Support towers.

^^^This

The thing that will take the longest is foundations as the land needs to be stabilized due to this being built over a swamp.

They want this up and running for Star Wars.

Does anyone know if the permits for the parking garages at DS were also issued to "Walt Disney Imagineering"? Everyone is assuming the rumor of Reedy Creek building and operating this is true, but the permits specifically say Imagineering. I'm not sure if they could do the design work and submit if it's for Reedy Creek since technically they are separate entities.

I don't know how the garages worked but that's certainly possible. Reedy Creek could hire Imagineering to do the design work. They also at some point would need to purchase the land from Disney which should also generate some documents. Of course if that's the case not only does Disney get away with adding this without directly paying but they actually make money on the deal by selling the land and getting paid for design work.

Here's one of the permits for the garages of you want to look over. I haven't looked at it.

How would this work with right of way for the lines themselves? Wouldn't Reedy Creek have to own the whole path? Or is there air rights or something that would satisfy that?

Regardless of who's building it it will require some cooperation between both Disney and Reedy Creek. Reedy Creek owns the roads it will cross and Disney at least currently owns the remaining property it will traverse.

OK, so there's no mention of Imagineering on those. This may be built and run by Disney then...
I wouldn't count it out just based on that. A parking garage and a gondola system are very different and would likely require different contractors.

Yes, but Imagineering is not listed as the designer on the parking garages but they are on the gondola
Who is listed as requesting the permit? Even Disney themselves doesn't always use imagineering. Different projects could have different design companies.

But seriously, Disney wants a transportation method that fits thematically with DAK and the AKL according to the rumors. We'll see if that holds true or not.
Would it be possible to theme the gondolas to hot air balloons...they get used in some safaris....if they put screens in for the windows they could show films of herds of animals filmed from above...

This blog, which follows the construction of new lifts/gondolas, is saying that Disney will be using Doppelymayr as the manufacturer. Don't have the time to be going through 130ish pages over on Magic for this stuff

2018 New Lifts – Lift Blog

Funny thing is that if you did, you'd know that this guy posts over at Magic. He only put this information as a placeholder and doesn't really know if Doppelmayr is building so there's that.

Close to that idea, put the Up balloons on it & paint a house scene on the gondola, and Disney can market it as an IP attraction. :)
