Averaged 15 minute wait the whole day yesterday which is GREAT. I would've never thought the Forbidden Journey ride system would one day be THE most reliable people-eater in a theme park. :lmao:

Isn't Forbidden Journey a capacity monster too?

Most single rider lines: We'll shove you in wherever we see fit.

I haven’t been since mid April….does anyone know if the ride vehicle motion has been softened a bit on Unchained?

When I went the ride didn’t bother my neck at all, except for a few moments, like when
Igor starts throwing you around and when some of the monsters lunge at your vehicle and you kind of get thrown back at bit.

Has the intensity been dialed back at all since the grand opening? I know they changed the ride profile on FJ after opening as an example.

On my previous visit, yes it seemed to be toned down at two moments in particular:
When Ygor takes control and the Dracula escape.

By the way. Am I the only one who thinks Darkmoor's lighting at night seems too generic and bright? I find other lands, such as Ministry and Nintendo's lighting are nicely done with personality. But for Dark Universe, not so much.

First of all, I believe they tried a new lighting hue style instead of using the usual blue gradient range, which resulted in a bright, warm light for the castle facade and a cold, white tone for Darkmoor Town overall. However, I don't feel much of a sinister vibe or mood from those new lighting choices compared to traditional lighting choices for this genre.

Here is my example

Traditional blue hue lighting choice

As you can see here, Darkmoor's lighting choice is not that darker or sinister compared to other themed zones. Which is a shame since it's a first of kind horror-themed zone. I think they should seriously consider to tone down the light volume and utilizing more of various hues to create a mysterious and darker tone for Dark Universe, not just with warm and cold white hues. As of right now, Frankenstein's manor lighting makes it look like a genetic museum or an old palace and the town is too bright for dracula or other monsters to be wandering around. To be honest, it doesn't have much of a spooky vibe at all. Even Isle of berk is dimmer than darkmoor at night

I totally agree with your issues with the lighting choices. I see the vision with the warmer tones, but outside of incredibly saturated pictures, it mostly ends up looking unfortunately flat. I wish the land looked so much darker, dimmer, and more grim.

I had also been been hoping for a lot more landscaping work; foliage and trees surrounding the land. I remember bringing up Busch Gardens Williamsburg as the dream vibe for this land. It unfortunately doesn't really get there, and not to beat a dead wolf, but I think the coaster definitely hurts the ambience and landscaping significantly.

I really wish they had just pushed the coaster a little deeper into the expansion plot and invested in putting it inside a building. The park needs the indoor ride capacity, it'd make the ride itself far better, and the space outside the building could've hopefully been used for more foresting and brush to both hide the building itself and make Darkmoor actually feel like a proper European village lost in a sea of trees.

Dark Universe in its current state doesn’t feel particularly sinister at all, day or night — and I imagine that was an intentional decision made in mind of the general audience. But as a result I think they leaned too far into the comedy and it makes the entire thing feel kinda hokey.
