I hope it's an effect that can last. The Kong scareactors were neat while they were around, but I really doubt we ever see them again, at least consistently.

My guess is more like the interactive scares in the Mummy queue.

The pre show could also have some jump scares involved.

With all the colored lights on the windmill it looks like the Moule Rouge...I would be confused being in Paris.

They’re testing, for one.

For two, the purple backlighting is common to accentuate nighttime shadows without “lighting” the decor. The red on the blades is to emphasize the flames, and will likely only turn red when the blades are on fire.

I’m pretty sure we’re seeing these lights from behind the windmill. It’s actually why it’s so bright. The front lighting will likely be more naturalistic.

Sorry but there’s no way. I’m sure the ride will be scary but it will not have gore, this isn’t HHN.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect blood or gore (that wasn't the original films' bag, anyway), but I could see a shadow effect of the Wolfman going to town on someone.

Yeah, I think you mentioned earlier we should expect Revenge of the Mummy-levels of horror. The dude that gets got by the beetles seems like a good indicator of what we'll see in Dark Universe.

We literally see blood in the water when George dies via JAWS on the Studio Tour....

Never underestimate Universal & daytime horror. Even HMU show features "blood" if we want to get technical.

The scarab eating scene in Mummy is also a Hollywood only thing, but Imhotep does suck the dude's soul out in Orlando's when the effect functions. So there is that.

If Disney's Alien Encounter was able to imply that someone was walking on a catwalk above us, and then scream, and then hit us with a water effect - making us THINK it was blood - I don't see why Universal wouldn't be able to imply something similar.

Imagine someone "off-screen/out-of-view" that the werewolf jumps at, we turn to look into the darkness he just jumped into, get splashed, and then we cut to the werewolf holding the remains of someone/something minus the literal viscera/blood red color(for rating purposes).

Could also always do the Evil Dead trick and make the person he jumps at "undead" or other-wise and have the blood be black/green - cause then you get past the rating boards because it's NOT red.

What about Jurassic World at USH? That has a shocking amount of blood. Even the Jaws Encounter on the tour has blood in the water.

But I see your point. I could see a shadow gag at the very most. I think they can get away with some blood.

The Dark Universe trailer made me think they might be using some psychological effects, like Alien Encounter. Specifically the clip of Dracula transforming into a bat and flying THROUGH the ride vehicle, and their mention of "using every trick in the book to create a visceral experience, so much that we needed to create NEW technology" to paraphrase. I don't think we really need visible gore in this ride, having lifelike full-size monsters inches from your face like Forbidden Journey, but leaning even harder into horror will be more than scary enough.

I'm talking the massive amount of blood that would come with witnessing the Wolfman tearing someone apart right in front of us with nothing obscuring it. That's probably not going to happen. Will we see shadows of blood sprays, splash effects on riders, or maybe even some projected blood spray on a curtain or tarp or something? Sure. As others have pointed out, there's precedent there.

Yeah, when they mentioned that there would be a moment where we would "feel the wolfman breathing on the back of your neck" i immediately thought of Alien Encounter.

I would LOVE a scene where we're surrounded by several icons and the lights go out and you just sit there in it, a flash here, a sound there, not knowing what's coming, and THEN you get that breath on the back of your neck. Yeah, i'm all in for that.

Years later I STILL haven't recovered from Alien Encounter... and yet, I miss that traumatizing experience. Best attraction ever.

Hopefully this Universal Monsters one will give the same long-lasting memories

Minus the special effects I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it said that there was an actual cast member with a flashlight above you in Alien Encounter.

Easiest job ever lol

Maybe no ripping people in half, but I would not count out the inclusion of gore (blood) and possibly body parts. I mean, this is Dr. Frankenstein's laboratory. He builds monsters from body parts.
