Nobody’s ever found video of the original meteor and swooping pterodactyl effects, right? I’ve hunted them down for years but all footage I’ve ever seen from 1998 pretty much shows the ride the same as it is now.

I believe there is a video on YouTube with the meteor. That’s how I knew I knew about that bit. I saw it years ago though.

Martin's (terrific) "Ultimate Tribute" video has footage of the meteor at 14:55ish:

The whole video is worth watching (as most of Martin's stuff is).

Yeah, I think this is the best footage of the meteor we have. It also looks to be a pretty accurate reflection of how the effect looked in practice.

I've seen that video, but I'm pretty sure that's just a photo-shopped image of a meteor that shows off what it was supposed to look lie.

I've been here at DAK for the final days, essentially looping Dinosaur in-between meals at Restaurantosaurus. Feels like the Ice Age out here haha. :cold_sweat: :lmao:

Lots of fun cult energy today. A great many Dr. Seeker cosplayers, and a whole lot of obscure Dino-Land merch being shown off.

They had Restaurantosaurus blocked off to anyone who didn't have an active order being made today, first time I've ever seen that happen.

Donald, Daisy, and the Munkosauruses were all meeting today around the Dino Trail and the singular remaining Dino-Bash sign, which was fun. I think it was Donald who got a real big cheer of support as they walked off-stage in his Dino-Bash outfit for the final time. Didn't see it, but could hear it from the Dinosaur extended queue.

At some point in the day, both Flight of Passage and Everest closed, which led to Dinosaur getting up to a posted 285 minute wait time. I don't really believe that was ever the case, as the standby queue never left the winding outdoor queue, which itself is only about 120 minutes or so. I haven't yet had to wait more than that myself. The ride is currently posted at an 85 minute wait time, which I think is accurate.

Lightning Lanes for Dinosaur were sold out in the morning, but park reservations were still available. I think that speaks to the energy around this ride: A cult favorite, and a spot for Disney lifers to say goodbye, but not a massive loss for people outside of the hyperfan core.

I have many, many thoughts on Dinosaur / CTE, but we'll save that for another time. I've enjoyed this weekend spent saying goodbye, even if it's meant facing the record-breaking freeze to do it.

Got in line at 7:57 with a posted 120 (maybe 150?)... it only took 70 minutes. Disney tends to exaggerate these waits to deter more guests from jumping in line at the last minute (Splash was posted at 180, it ended up being a 50-min wait).

100% I love Dinosaur, but Indiana Jones will be far more popular and finally help provide relief to the Avatar attractions.
