I'm disappointed Margaritaville is on the chopping block, but they failed to give us the volcano eruption.... also I blame the poor location. Citywalk is not a good design for dining

At this rate, they should just give us a list of what is staying since it'd be a lot shorter

I know @ethanuniversal had asked those at Billabong out of curiosity and while they said no on if it was closing soon, I believe the answer was given with hesitance.

I wonder how long till we get an announcement on the future of CityWalk. Feel like it might be a good way to publicly talk about the impending security changes alongside rejuvenating the nightlife experience.

Seems like the F&F coaster was the first step/chapter in big changes coming to the resort as a whole over there. Happy for you guys!

The only downside to the whole thing is in the lack of transprency by Universal. Been talking a bit of it to friends and colleagues, and it seems perplexing that Universal has continued to be silent of the scope of the closures and changes upcoming.

I have to wonder in the month or two ahead, if we might see an attempt at a June 2016 announcement again, but this time in place of CityWalk Hollywood, the security hubs, and the hotel. This seems to be lining up to be the next massive project for the property in revitalizing CityWalk; and it'd be great to have an element of transprency at play (even if the hotel is a few years off).

Oh hell nah, they can take away anything else but NOT Jamba Juice.

...although I'd be willing to make an exception if they moved it over here.

Taking a time to deposit a small bit of memory to Sparky's. It was probably the first storefront that I got something at when I was a kid, back when me, my dad, his fiance, and my sister would go to USH altogether. Big thing that made me and my sis excited was the donuts and the atmosphere.

Crazy to think that an institution of CityWalk like Sparky's is glowing away into the studio vault as of tonight. Hell of a run.

Could it be the upper echelons in management green lit these closures because they already knew new things were coming, but those specific details (replacements) haven't been solidified yet to make a formal announcement? It does seem a bit odd the scale of changes is drastic and catching people by surprise without much notice.

Striking while the iron is hot and all that.

I had some sparky Donuts yesterday

Yeah, pretty good still. RIP

I really do whatever is happening to Cutywalk improves it....for years I said this area was better then DTD but for now its not. DTD is on the rise and kinda killing it and Citywalk at least for the next year feels like not much to do outside the AMC.

I don’t see the rear DTD locations doing very well. Everyone seems to agree the food is WAY overpriced for what you get (toothsome).

The Porto’s will be popular being right front and center at the esplanade, even with the expected DTD price markup compared to regular Porto’s.

Good night, sweet prince. May have to finally try the sister location today and see how they compare.

Not sure if speculation or a bad game of telephone, I’m hearing Margaritaville isn’t necessarily closing but moving to the former Dongpa Kitchen spot and Dodgers clubhouse may also be moving elsewhere in Citywalk?

This would certainly make sense - the existing location is both too big (I've seldom seen it even half full) and too far out of the way. Putting it in that central corridor would help immensely.

I’ve got a lot to catch up on this thread as I’ve been kinda apathetic about it for a while but man, there sure are a lot of closures!

I really hope Bubba Gumps and Margaritaville survive the purge. Everything else can go. Except obviously the theater. That IMAX screen is the best in town. Everything else can burn.

I would personally prefer to see more Universal-themed stores and restaurants as it’s become an overpriced outdoor mall at this point. If you’re gonna have that, just have some unique or Universal-themed stops. The property is overdue for another Marvel-Mania-style restaurant if anyone still remembers that!

I doubt this is the case, but I would not shed a single tear if that entire section East of the theater was axed for theme park expansion….which won’t happen with those Escape Rooms happening. Speaking of which, I think they’re about 7-8 years too late in that Escape Room train, but I’d be willing to try it out!
