Aesthetic of Pizza Moon interior, themed as a Victorian Theater:

That explains the moon on the sign!

The serving portions for Pizza Moon are great.

That interior is tremendously fun to look at!

Constellation Carousel is a nice small-scale attraction. The soundtrack alternates between a symphonic score and an EDM track, and there’s a turntable-within-a-turntable that makes the movements unpredictable to a degree. Also, the animals have fiber optics in them that will look very cool at night.

I hope that if more flat rides are on their way that this is the template for them, they did a good job of plussing up what could otherwise be a very conventional carnival ride.

Great great ground level photo. That statue is a lot bigger than I thought.

For anyone that's been to the park, what does the rest of the text say?

This place is great. Seems like the designers took lots of inspiration from Main Street & Discoveryland at DLP. Has beautiful metal work, great audio, and massive scale.

Atlantic is nice. Has a very solid bar. Food is more expensive than Mythos.

Having spent the day in Epic, it’s really obvious the plan was to open Celestial in the evenings City Walk style. The gates on the portals make it easy to close off lands (for the night or for corporate buyouts), but the capacity of the restaurants and bars in Celestial is really designed for huge numbers already, and that’s even before Blue Dragon and the big Mexitalian restaurant come on line. I really have to believe they’ll open Celestial Park at night, even if it’s just for the resort guests. Gotta fill those tables!

We probably should have a dedicated food of EU thread since there’s so much to try. We ended up eating two meals yesterday, and both were excellent. The quick serve restaurants are all encouraging using the app and scanning table numbers for food delivery like in a few of the North Campus venues.

We ate our first meal at Oak and Star. The restaurant and the Plastered Owl Bar are absolutely gorgeous inside. Beautiful arts & crafts style meets deco details throughout. Huge fireplace front and center when you walk in, with a second hearth in the dining room to the left.

We both ordered the two meat platters, which each came with choice of side and honey cornbread. Portions seemed small at first, but it turned out they were exactly right— not too much, nothing wasted, felt full in the end. I got the brisket and pulled pork with the burnt ends baked beans, Brian got the brisket and the smoked sausage with the mac and cheese, and also ordered a side of the slaw so we could try that. Meats come unsauced with four varieties of sauce on each table to add to taste. The 14 hour brisket absolutely melts in your mouth, and is legit some of the best I’ve ever had. Pulled pork and sausage were both excellent as well. Sides were small but really delicious and the entire meal was great. Comparable to Four Rivers in (regular) price, so I think this will be a real winner.

While waiting for Monsters to reopen we decided to check out Das Stakehaus and tried the red velvet coffin cake dessert which was good. The atmosphere of Das Stakehaus is great.

For our final meal we went to Pizza Moon. I absolutely love the whimsical theme elements inside. Really beautifully done. We split a Nanarossa which was more than enough for two people. The pizza was excellent, although there were some hiccups with service. We ordered through the app and put in the table number, and when our pie came it was beautiful. We asked for plates and the server brought them but we didn’t have napkins or utensils— those come from the cashier, so if you’re mobile ordering currently you have to go up and get them yourself. I’m sure this will be remedied quickly and easily, and is the point of these previews to figure out issues. We also ordered the Meyer lemon olive oil Moon Phase cake which was quite tasty, but was delivered with one spoon. I’m sure most people share desserts, so once again it required going and asking for a second spoon. The cake was really good— perfect balance of sweet and tart, and the presentation was beautiful. The limoncello sauce was quite boozy tasting (I loved it, Brian not so much) and the fresh blackberries and raspberry crunch were so good.

All in all, great food experiences and I look forward to trying more next week!

Great review! I'm curious if/how Universal is collecting feedback from the technical rehearsals. Are they doing exit surveys or using the app to gather notes like yours above (that the app needs "How many utensils?" questions, etc.).

From reading others' reviews, there are hundreds, or thousands, of tiny issues to possibly take note of and route to whoever needs to tackle it. Having visited, if you have any insight into how that's being collected -- or not -- would love to know.

We haven’t received any surveys and we weren’t asked for feedback, so I’m not sure how they’re monitoring the process other than watching what’s actually happening in the moment

I love how the entrance is elevated over the park so you can look out over the entire celestial park! It truely feels like a park and not a theme/amusement park. Love how the portals just seem to pop out of no where (especially dark universe). Plenty of seating around and plenty of places to grab food and a drink.

Now, stardust racers!!

I am a coaster enthusiast to the core and I must say, while I haven't experienced iron gwazi, this has to be the best coaster in all of FLA! I haven't screamed on a coaster in a long time! That initial launch(es). . . WTF was that lol lol. I was like OMG this cant be a mack launch. The airtime was superior and plentiful. I LOVED how close you are to the next train, especially in the celestial spin. I favor the yellow side more as it seems to have the stronger airtime. I can imagine how wild it had to be without the trims.

Ok, does it have a rattle?!?!? Kinda but mostly at the bottom of the drops due to the strong forces. HOWEVER, it is not that noticeable at all and does not take away from the ride.

I’m not sure you’ve seen the leaked concept art for this restaurant but if you did does it match it ?

Yeah, the elevation changes in the park are something we couldn’t really appreciate from Bio’s aerials. It made the views even more impressive.

I found it interesting how tall the Chronos and Helios Grand look from a distance, but up close they don’t look nearly as tall.

It’s Victorian illustration as 2-D cutouts that are animated— kind of “Trip to the Moon” (the source material), Monty Python animation.

The rocket ship pizza oven is so cool!

Huh, that surprises me. I would have thought they'd at least put a "Feedback" button on the app and then have a few hierarchical drill-down buttons (-->Celestial Park-->Pizza Moon-->Service) until test-guests can leave a 100 character-count note. All these text notes could be aggregated and, nowadays, reviewed by AI to create reports and summaries of issues.

I don't see how they can watch and notice when people are dissatisfied about most things. I've been involved in lots of consumer testing/playtesting/focus grouping, so market research is interesting to me.

That’s sounds like it stayed close to the concept art which is amazing.

I'm an enthusiast as well and really appreciate this breakdown. Mack for me has been hit and miss (I'm not a fan of Copperhead Strike but really enjoy Time Traveler.) Have you been on Velocicoaster, and if so how does is it compare for you?
