I don’t fully disagree that there were some TMs being “unprofessional” in the moment, but at the same time even if this is something Universal trains for (I’m sure they train about medical emergencies, but not to this extent) all of that goes out the window when you see something as traumatic as what was described and you can’t fault the TMs for that.

I hope it didn't come off as thinking the "unprofessionalism" thing was right something I believed. Far from it, if what he described was true I would likely have been absolutely been doing the same and I feel for anyone that had to witness or try to do their job when something horrible like this happens. I have no idea what the right thing to do in this case would be for a TM.

I was simply saying the majority of his emotional state was how it impacted him in having to go to Lost & Found

Nightmare scenario for everyone involved. Deep condolences to those affected.

In the time that I worked attractions at UOR, those kinds of medical emergencies, especially situations this intense, were brought up in training; but very rarely in-depth, and only to the extent to where you'd be able to call Health Services / Security in the moment. UOTM Attractions staff aren't lifeguards or medical staff, and they aren't trained as such. There certainly weren't enacted drills or training exercises on how to deal with traumatic events like this in the moment. This was likely the first time anyone on that team had dealt with a situation like this.

We have also been speaking for awhile on these boards of understaffing across the resort. I would bet that a number of these Epic TMs are likely new to the company, and everyone on staff is less than a year into their roles given the park hasn't been open more than half a year.

Does this excuse any actions from the TMs? I don't really care about that if I'm honest. Simply trying to provide context from my previous experiences.

Yeah, the only place I've seen that was from an interview with someone claiming to be on the same train.

As we see over and over again, people usually aren't great eye witnesses, so I'm pausing until we get official word from USO or whatever investigative body there is.

As someone who does occasionally respond to emergency scenarios, unless you are training for it in depth and regularly you are not going to have the muscle memory to know what to do when you see someone actually injured/unconscious. Even with all of the training until you're in that position for the first time you don't know what your response will be.

I really feel for these TMs and hope they get any help they need, bad situation all around.

More information released:
  • Had a laceration, and CPR was being performed on the platform.
  • Had a pre-existing spinal injury

maybe there's need to be a limit of daily rides if the team member notices the same rider.

I've not rode it yet, so I'm asking out of genuine curiosity. Is there even anywhere you could maneuver yourself to hit your head and get a laceration? Could you hit the seat in front of you?

I read one comment on one of the articles where a girl said she hit her head on her legs while riding it. and some other people replied with the same experience.
I only mention it because it made me curious.
I don't know how but that conversation made me wonder.
