I mean I think the answer to this addition is simple: things got weird and they had to install it somewhere. SF and CF have had plenty of custom designs and off the shelf stuff. If you were saying CF is getting more attention than SF I’d agree (and ngl I’m super for since I’m a CP fanboy I’ll admit).

Well, I can honestly say this is probably one of the most surprising announcements we've had in a while. I know they did the teaser, but I don't think anyone knew it was going to be a tilt coaster! Most folks were leaning towards a waterslide for the waterpark, with a handful thinking of a water coaster. Hat's off to Cedar Point for keeping it very under wraps, as for me this is honestly a nice surprise!

I'm down for a tilt coaster, and the layout looks really fun, too. It's not just a one-trick-pony with the tilt drop itself and not much after that. All in all, this is something that'll entice me to visit the park again next year!

This is a very SF addition, down to the animation and pulse pumping music. I actually think it has the same name of SFM's coaster ( look back at the teasers for that coaster announcing the announcement that never came.

SFMM better hope everything passes with the planning commission, or their new coaster may end up at Kings Island lol

Cedar Point was packed this year on a regular basis. Idk comparison to previous years but I don’t think they were hurting significantly…this feels like a makeup attraction…unique enough to the park to diversify its offerings and attract more thrill seekers…especially with TT2 presumably operating next year. Its gonna be major boost for sure

Edit: I will say…I would have preferred a family coaster addition….something akin to Good Gravy or additions similar to Carowinds. CP has decent amount of kid attractions, but somehow still feel like they’re lacking

Forgot to share this moment of hilarious stupidity with you all...

So the other week, I had someone try telling me that Cedar Point was "closing forever". It took a lot of strength for me not to die of laughter, but I did tell them that they were very misinformed.

Theme Park Insider is reporting that Cedar Point is cutting pay rates for employees, most especially the $5 an hr. legacy increase they gave employees after the covid opening when they were having problems getting employees.

Hearing good reviews that it’s pretty zippy, fun, and has lots of airtime. Glad to hear it’s not just a one trick pony.

With some luck, should get to go on it in about 3 weeks.

Some evacuation video— the mechanics are in safety harnesses but (I guess the ride op) guy in orange vest closest to the edge has no visible fall protection gear.

I'm thinking of heading to the Point the first weekend of September before Halloweekends. Any tips from anyone? Should I buy Fastlane? Going with two first timers so very excited.

- I'm sure I don't need to tell you but the great coasters at CP are great. Maverick, SV, Millennium Force, etc. All fantastic and must hits. Make sure to do the magic seat on Magnum (1-3).
- If you can afford it, Hotel Breakers is incredible and worth the money. The ability to walk out of the gate to your room to take a little nap or watch some football can't be beat.
- I would bet that crowds are pretty light that weekend given that Ohio kids are generally in school. Definitely worth waiting until you get to the park to make your decision about buying Fastlane. I'd expect no greater than 90 minutes for the biggest coasters and more likely closer to 60 minutes.
- I would've recommended Melt as a must eat in the park but it was closed last year and I'm still not over it :sob:

Was just there for my 4th visit about a week ago. Things good to know:

  • If you want to get on TT2, Maverick, or Siren's Curse, definitely get a FastLane+. The lines for both can easily be hours or more (especially Siren's Curse), and the latter also has next to no shade the entire queue
  • Many, many rides will require lockers, and SV, TT2, and SC will have metal detectors. But for a one time fee of $15, you can rent a locker that will move with you from location to location all day long, and all those rides have such lockers nearby, so it's a pretty good value. And you have have the locker for up to 3 hours at each location. SV and SC will also have additional small lockers just for pocket items (phones, sunglasses, etc.) within the queue just before boarding, but if you have a Fastlane+, just putting it all in the exterior locker to begin with will save you a lot of hassle and allow you to bypass the pocket lockers. The metal detectors/nothing in pockets rule is taken very seriously... I nearly got sent back for having a chapstick in a zippered pocket (they do not care if the pocket has a closure). Glasses are fine if you have a strap on all rides. Oddly Maverick is not very strict and has no metal detectors, and storage on the platform, so no need for lockers on that one--but it is a wild ride, so make sure things are very secure. The only major ride without FastLane+ is the Wild Mouse.
  • While the park is pretty flat, is it also very, very large. It has the "Vegas" effect, in that in Vegas you say, "Oh, that casino is right next door, it'll be a short walk" and of course it takes forever. So, say, going from Raptor to SV is a huge, huge walk. I mean, just the distance between the two spikes in TT2 is probably not far off from the entire width of Knott's Berry Farm. Plan on a lot of walking.
  • Food has improved a lot. I strongly suggest you visit Grand Pavilion (there's the main food on the bottom floor, but also a bar and a build your own nachos place upstairs), The Farmhouse, and BackBeatQue.
  • If you're looking for souvenirs, visit as many shops as possible. While a few items repeat from store to store, many are store specific. The store under the front Skyway station is the most ride specific.
  • If you have a refillable mug from Knott's, you can use it at CP.
  • Get the app... and if you have a profile/AP on the Knott's app, once you log into the CP app, it will appear there, so you can have your ticket digitally. Note: it did not happen for us instantly. We logged in, and it didn't appear until about our 3rd time opening the app, and then suddenly it was there. So prep that beforehand to save yourself some grief.
  • Hotel Breakers is great and very convenient if you can snag it... but it can be very, very pricey. We've stayed there before, but this time we stayed at the newly refurbished Sawmill Creek, and liked it a lot. It's an easy 15 minute drive away from the park. Only downside: it's in the middle of a wilderness reserve, so aside from the hotel itself, there are no amenities (fast food, CVS, gas stations, etc.) around at all. It'd be another 10 min drive away to a major street (Hwy 250) that is the Sandusky equivalent of International Drive in Orlando
  • If you stay at a Resort hotel, or have a Prestige pass, you are eligible for Early Entry. Use it! Even though it's not listed on the website, they did add TT2 to it, so you could get it done before the park even opens (assuming it opens on time--we did experience a delay, but they had it up in about 20 min)! And they have a separate line for Prestige Pass (to the far right), which is usually much, much shorter than the Resorts lines, so that's your best bet if you have one.
If you have time:
  • There is a year-round haunt off Hwy 250 called Ghostly Manor that is pretty good considering it's in the middle of a family fun center. And since it may be near Halloween, they may have extra haunts up
  • Even if you don't stay at Hotel Breakers, I'd exit there at some point (like Disney's DCA, CP has multiple entry and exit points) and explore it a bit. There is a public path down the side (it goes between the beach and the water park--look it up on google maps, earth view, it also heads towards the cabins at Breakwater Bay) that eventually ends by the turnaround to Magnum-XL, for a really great and unique photo op.
  • If you want the postcard overview photo op, in downtown Sandusky look up the Washington Street Pier (which it really isn't a pier, it's an asphalt path)
  • I haven't been, but there is also a Merry Go Round Museum in downtown Sandusky that is supposed to be quite good
I have a trip report of it on my Bluesky profile... just scroll down a bit: Rideguy70 (@rideguy70.bsky.social)
