It seems that with the way the new DCU is being laid out, that universes Batman will more than likely be introduced in chapter 2.

Andy Muschietti remains involved as director as the studio takes a measured approach in its development.

Christina Hodson is writing Brave & The Bold. This comes off of her previous writing credit of The Flash (and before that, Birds of Prey). She was previously attached to write Fast 11/12, but has been replaced (and was writing the animated Batman Beyond, before that was scrapped).

Andy Muschetti is still attached to direct the film, but might have to leave depending on availability.

She wrote two of the most infamous comic book movies ever and they picked her for the grand introduction of Batman to the DCU?

Do we know if those other films had heavy studio interference on the script? Maybe she’s actually a pretty good writer and it wasn’t her fault those movies turned out how they did, so this is someone giving her another chance?

EDIT: She also wrote the Batgirl movie that was received so poorly in test screenings that the studio opted not to release it at all, despite being completely finished. And Bumblebee, which is supposed to be pretty decent if a little shallow. Very, very surprising choice.

Batgirl's test screenings had been more mixed from what I could tell than poorly recieved. tbh after watching The Flash today (I've long since wanted to not watch it), I actually don't think Christina Hodson's a bad writer. I think she got the "Batman" stuff from Affleck and Keaton down really nicely, and if it's a smaller scale film--then I don't think she'd be as burdened with weight like how The Flash was.

I quite liked Birds of Prey and Bumblebee, but it's been about a million years since I saw them.
