With Noah Hawley involved, and based on his work on Fargo and Legion, I DESPERATELY want this to be a Weyland/Yutani-focused, corporation-centric exploration into their bio-engineering efforts that led to the pursuit of the xenomorphs.

I saw this Alien Timeline going around I was like, wtf is Alien Earth? Turns out it’s the Hulu show set 1 year prior to Prometheus.

I know the xenomorph is iconic and sacred by now but I'm kind of tired of it. I want different creatures. more experiments. different animal hosts. I don't know anything about this show, but I hope it's more like resident evil in the laboratory aspects.

I think an Alien series is a great way to get us to truly care about the characters involved rather than just the Xenomorphs being the main draw. I agree with others that exploring Weyland-Yutani would be an interesting angle.

one thing I always loved about alien resurrection a lot was the laboratory experiment stuff at the beginning. the science aspect. the cloning stuff was really interesting

Oof… the first episode is a disappointment. The ingredients for a good show are there, but the structure is so frustrating (and seems dictated by committee) it’s hard to stay excited after at the moment. It’s really a testament to how “telling” is a lesser technique than “showing.”

But I’m also not a fan of a series that starts by “requiring” the first two episodes until everything clicks. At that point, just make a movie like BSG did.

We’ll probably watch the second episode tomorrow. We trust Noah Hawley more than most other creatives and the Alien franchise is an immediate watch every time. But in the moment, it’s obligation not desire.

I totally hear you! Was mostly curious if you had made it through both and if that had any impact on your opinion or thoughts at all but I definitely do agree that it's better for a show to have you hooked by the first episode rather than spread out into two.

Noah Hawley is one of the few show-runners I trust to take on this franchise as well. I watched both episodes. I was...mostly impressed...but that could also be because I'm just so excited for an Alien show in general. I'm going to give both episodes another rewatch this week after my initial excitement has died down to see how I really feel about it.
