Of course not, but the point of debate and discussion is to go beyond "I liked it, and if you question my feelings then you're a gatekeeper" I really have no patience for that kind of attitude.

This still confuses me a bit because I don’t think feelings are something that can be gatekept really and if someone’s questioning someone’s feelings of enjoying the ride only then that’s not gatekeeping at all, IMO, that’s just plain rude. @queenmetroid’s follow up post makes perfect sense though.

Really? You can't question why someone feels a certain way about something?

I mean if someone likes a ride and I don’t, then, no I wouldn’t question it really. I wouldn’t care. If someone likes a ride that I don’t like, that’s cool. Nobody owes me an explanation as to why they like or dislike a certain ride.

And If someone likes something I don't then I will ask them why they feel the way they do.

My point is, it's not gatekeeping to ask people to expand on their thoughts and feelings, especially from Disney attractions which, in the past, have received some extra brownie points because of brand affinity.

Nobody's trying to erase your positive experience

Got it, I think my concern is that it can read as the feelings some people have here about rides are more important than other’s and I hope that’s not the case because everyone should feel free to like whatever rides that they wanna like without feeling wrong or incorrect for it. Facts are a different thing to question.

I agree. It’s not about “you have to like this because I do and my opinion is correct and yours is wrong”.

However, it’s only natural for me to ask what made someone like a certain ride more than another (that they specifically compared it to, not me). That’s just me having a conversation with a friend. No one is right or wrong, we’re just sharing our opinions.

I read everyone's reviews of a new coaster, personally, I was constantly searching for VC reviews at the time just because I was interested to see where the scatterplot landed

Same with this, I've read everyone's reviews and responded to many, sometimes with questions of course

The original statement that gave me pause, as I was slacking off at work, was this:

If your opinion doesn't match mine, I'm probably going to ask you to expand on it, and debate you a bit, If that makes you feel bad then...idk...go listen to Enya or something

Now I'll be honest, there are certain folks that I value their opinion more just because of the amount of coasters they've done...ThemeParkWorldwide for instance, he literally travels the world riding coasters..But that certainly doesn't mean I'm any less interested in others reviews. Everyone gets a grain of salt.

Look at the end of the day we all know Universal is better than Disney, and Guardians was a capital vampire that took way too long to build in a park that only survived by selling the cafeteria version of international food...and I think those are facts we can all share

I definitely see your point of view, I think we’re gonna have to agree to disagree, but that’s ok too!

Back to GOTG: CR specifically, the ride is running extremely efficiently and seemingly has a rather high capacity, especially for a recent Disney ride.

It has a theoretical capacity of 2500 riders per hour, and even if it is only hitting 80% of that number, then it is still putting through 2000 an hour.

Due to this, I REALLY wish that they would just open this ride up to stand-by because imo there’s no reason it needs to be using a virtual queue. My hope is that they drop VQ from CR as soon as TRON opens, which could be as soon as October.

Epcot needs it too, all the other major rides are hitting hour-plus waits at a minimum.

I saw a few pictures on Twitter of some half filled rows on several trains..I'll see if I can dig up that Tweet,

But I feel like VQ is just automatically applied to new rides, when this one is clearly built for a high throughput..for once

You’re 100% right but I think VQ has migrated in their minds from a necessity when it was on RotR to something that isn’t necessary but the pluses outweigh the minuses (for them).

One obvious is that it allows them to burn through the period of absurd demand when people are willing to wait 150-200 minutes without having to build/manage extended queue. I find it hard to believe they actually account for saving money because of VQ while designing, but it also wouldn’t shock me if it gets brought up in design meetings.

The second is that it inflates the satisfaction scores of the ride in the beginning when that sort of stuff is being watched really closely. You don’t rate a ride that you don’t go on, so all of the people who are angry for not getting a VQ time would only hurt the overall park score and likely by an imperceptible amount. But on the other side, all of the people who are rating the ride got to go on it with practically no wait, which is known to be a big bump over waiting a long time for something.

This mindset is really the source of so much disagreement on this website. Things can be fun and well-reviewed without being the greatest thing ever. Gatekeeping positive experiences because they aren’t groundbreaking doesn’t lend itself to a good discussion atmosphere.

It happens with both parks, too. When Fast & Furious opened any positive review was met with instant scrutiny. Now the same thing is happening with Guardians because of some arbitrary financial issues. Bottom line is if a ride is fun, that’s literally ALL that matters.

The problem isn’t positivity, it’s people’s reactions to opinions that don’t match their own, which turns into a weird turf war between two semi-competing media conglomerates.

EDIT: Not to single you out @queenmetroid … more just using your post as a jumping off point for an overall observation.

That Disney thinks they need these every ten feet tells me there have been significant issues.

Under the impression that Mission: Space is still worse for most guests. That said, they need to make it clear this thing spins/rotates. I’m fine if you wait until after the pre-shows to reveal that (using the load instructions screen, or even having the cars do a fun spin maneuver on their way out of load), but it needs to be very clear before guests board.

That said, Disney isn’t really in a position to change the ride profile all that much. Some elements (ex. The element right after launch) would be way more intense without the turning, and most show elements run alongside the track, meaning guests would be turning their heads sideways… still making them motion sick.

I can’t believe they haven’t started yet. With a drawing of the RV with little arrows making a rotation image around it.

Guess adding more trash cans was the quicker fix.

They honestly need little tv's with footage of a car spinning, something which Universal has done quite well for indoor attractions which you wouldn't be able to tell what's going on inside. (Revenge of the Mummy with it's neat lit up vehicle footage to show it's a coaster, Escape from Gringotts to show the cars will spin, Forbidden Journey to show you're gonna' be moved around like you do.)
