Nintendo Coming to Universal Parks

I hope the Mario Kart ride incoperates Rainbow Road as the final track. Would make for some amazing visuals. I was playing on the 3DS and man those levels were always impossible. Every game

Concepts had it as a major portion of the ride.

I can't wait to hear the theme music kick in as it transitions to that part. :D

I'm looking forward to how they use music in SNW in general. There are just so many memorable tunes to pull from. Must be a fun job.

I'm quite sure the holding area's (no queues) will hold many people and offer a ton of play. I expect it to be the Nintendo version of Disney Quest and will be as popular as the rides.

Now that you put that in my head I actually really want it lol.

Your move Disney, DHS could use more rides

Perfectly explains why GOTG is possibly going to EPCOT. Retheme RnRC to Casino Night Zone with Sonic and ToT to one of Dr. Robotnik's schemes. Done. Buy a $20 Magic Band charm featuring Knuckles and he appears in other DHS attractions while you ride. :look:

Toy Story Midway Mania & Knuckles, Muppet Vision 3D & Knuckles, The Great Movie Ride & Knuckles. Perfect.

So, I have been reading through many of these past discussions, and I think the general assumption is that the Super Nintendo World in Orlando will just have attractions centered around Mario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi. However, I have also seen many people mention all of this as Phase 1. So, I was wondering: What do you all think Phase 2 would consist of, and where would they put it? In my opinion, I believe the most logical option would be to put a Zelda-themed area in place of where the Lost Continent is now.

Welcome to the IU Forums:thumbsup: .....Yes, some have speculated Zelda for Lost Continent as a Nintendo phase two. But if they do a HP expansion in the DC area, as rumored, IOA would probably not be in line for a significant expansion for some time. I've always though the Third Theme Park on the Lockheed property will be where Phase Two Nintendo goes. That would give them a popular IP to kick off the new park with.

Has anyone thrown out the idea for a Pokémon Stadium attraction/show at the Toon Lagoon Amphitheater with training academy replacing games on that path? If Kong can get a small land between islands, not sure why Nintendo can't either.

That could be a quick phase two while we wait for the big new land(s) at the new park someday.

Oh okay! I did not even know they owned that land. That could be interesting.

I think this could be a cool idea! It would be nice for IOA to have something Nintendo-related like this.

Is Pokemon's rights an issue at this point in time, though? I seem to recall some discussions concerning licensing issues, but I can't remember the exact problems. Also, isn't there some problems with that building where they can't use it on a regular (except special events) basis due to some structural issues.

Nintendo is the sole owner of the Pokémon trademark, but a separate company was created to handle licensing deals called The Pokémon Company, which is made up of Nintendo, Creatures, and Game Freak.

If Nintendo wanted Pokemon in the parks, they could arrange for it to happen... and I'm sure the other two parties wouldn't mind the added merchandise sales it would drive.

I have no idea about structural issues at the amphitheater, but I'm an advocate of tearing it down for a new family style dark ride any day, whether it's Secret Life of Pets, Pokemon or even Heathcliff, I'd love to see something open up on that long stretch of nothing.

I know the merger has been a bit of an adjustment for everyone, but we've been merged long enough now that we all (that have been members) should know that this is IU now. I know that you have been a supporter of the forums for a long time, but please stop referring to them as OU when welcoming new members.

No ill will, just don't want to confuse anyone, especially new members.

Since it's looking like Yoshi is out, I might as well post this:

Me too, on that building. Tear it down. Perfect location for a SLOP dark ride, if it ever gets revived.

Usually I do it this way IU (OU) to avoid confusion. But it was early in the morning, so only OU came out. :)

Where did you hear this?

No offense but you're adding more confusion. I know we all know it in our hearts as OU and change is hard, but it's also true.
Heh, I'll just do IU then so it's no problem. It's not hard, I just did it that way IU (OU) because I thought it would be less confusing to people who have been reading, but not posting, for some time...:).......Maybe, you guys need to start welcoming new members. It would be a nice courtesy.:)

Without any decinitive info, I'm going to say Pokémon and Zelda will be part of Park 3...but that's a gut feeling

I have no reason to believe we will not get the Yoshi attraction
