Honestly, I don't think people would mind another roller coaster - as track layout can drastically differentiate one ride from another. Something like the slalom fishtail coaster in Dubai would of worked wonders for an IP like F&F. But alas, we'll get a full circuit tram ride which feels more like a sick joke than a major E-ticket. Can we consider 2018 to be an off year for UO?

I'd consider 2017 and 2018 off years for the theme parks. VB looks to be great, but it's a whole different animal.

It's just frustrating that we probably won't hear about the (legitimately great) things coming after F&F until F&F actually opens.

I don't think I could be less excited for a ride. F&F isn't really for me, but neither was Pandora, or if I'm honest Potter...but I was still excited to see what they came up with.

It's been over said but when you're capable of making Gringotts & Spiderman, any future rides need to match this standard or atleast offer a different perspective. This seems like it will join Kong and Fallon in that it's a good ride, but one that adds nothing that we haven't seen before...meanwhile Jurassic Park, Toon Lagoon, Marvel and the Screen city entry plaza scream out for updates.

Just a bit dismayed at how we gone from Diagon to this situation in just a few years...they've wasted 3 years of momentum in my eyes.

I get that and I did have to kick myself a bit when I was at Universal last month, but it had lost its edge a bit and I was disappointed as it was favourite last trip. Any disappointment is all relative, it's still one of the best theme park resort destinations in the world.

Agreed, in an age where there's more new dark ride technology than anything else on the market, you'd think UO would want to push the boundaries and be the dark ride capital of the world. Oceaneering and Dynamic Attractions have some hot items up for grab right now that would have been perfect for Universal.

This might be a better question for the Fallon topic than here, but how does it work with Virtual Queue plus the Express Pass? If Express Pass people can show up whenever, isn't that going to delay the virtual queue wait even more (and you won't know until you show up for that designated time), or make the Express Pass people wait....either way seems like someone would lose out.

I thought the virtual queue was for Fallon since they had such limited space, but this plot is huge...surely they could have done a regular queue. If this is the future hopefully they get all the kinks worked out with VQ (if that's possible) before Nintendo opens.

I like Kong a lot and don't really think FF should have been a coaster, but it sure as heck didn't need to be like Kong. I know it's an action franchise at this point so screens were probably needed but it needed a much better ride vehicle than what we're seeming to be getting.

Either way I'll ride it a few times and just wait for the coming years.

If you have Express Pass, they'll check your pass at the building entrance, & you just walk in like any other Express pass attraction. They'll give you a color coded card in the lobby and you'll join all the other guests in the pre show lobby that were let in on their reservation time. When your color is signaled, you go to the ride line.

I know this has been said before but I need to process what's going on. Universal is just duplicating ride systems. It used to bother me how many similar simulated attarctions universal had, but now it severe. Universal is now known as the screen and simulator park. First two rides you walk into are very old, mediocre, and have the same ride system. Your in a moving seat and your looking at a screen. Next ride, walk a little more and your sitting in a theatre with a more modern and smoother ride system. But the same large screen and moving seats with a different film. Next ride is mummy but then you come out to a cross road of either a simulator ride with a moving car and large screens that's exactly like spiderman or a newer moving car ride with screens that's based of F&F. Then it's another theater ride with moving seats and a large screen that's like a show, and then next door to that is a ride that surprisingly has moving seats and a GIGANTIC screen in front of you. Gringotts is super cool but the general public still sees it as a screen ride. Universal has to stop now, or am I wrong?

Lol, you probably should take this this to the screens debate. I'll just say this, because rides use screens, does not make them the same, Minions and Fallon are flying theater type simulators, Shrek is a regular 4d theater and transformers is a dark ride, as is Gringots. Fast and Furious will be a large scale dark ride a la Kong.

Is anybody even a little curious about F&F? If there's anything this summer has taught us, it's that our reactions can wildly change once something opens.

Avatar was mocked for years and now it's got a wildly positive reception (considering a couple months ago).
Guardians in DCA was considered sacrilege and now people seem to like it (especially the Rocket AA)
VB was promised to be the most amazing fantastic waterpark in the history of the universe and... it's been a shaky reception to say the least. Hopefully a couple months can fix that.

If anything, I'm going to remain optimistic until F&F opens.

EDIT: I know my two positive examples were both Disney. Not my intention to start a Disney vs. Universal war. Just wanted to point out that all of us change our opinions once something opens.

UO had it's fun since Diagon opened but now the great mouse has been awoken. I'm not sure even Nintendo can make a dent to what WDW have planned for their 50th - let alone F&F... lol

UO seems to be phoning it in lately...

I don't know if I'd go that far. Not my intention to start a Disney vs. Universal thing. I just meant that there's a lot of precedent for F&F to end up being amazing, even though nobody is looking forward to it now.

^And that's exactly the point. Guests are expecting parks to step up their game, and with the age of the internet, stuff spreads like wildfire. People are going to expect something amazing out of the F&F ride and will be severely disappointed when they find out it's even worse than Kong. We've had this conversation as long as two years ago - but it still doesn't account for Universal's thinking with the kinds of attractions they're building and the style in which they're building them. Baffles me tbh, because even though Kong and FF may be boring, they ain't cheap.

This is true but I feel like universal is rushing, designing, and getting ready to (soon) give us a large reveal with a whole new phase of attractions like they did during the time of Kong and rides that would come after that.

Edit: Universal is smarter than we think  let's all keep our heads up.
