One of the big things I'm holding out for, that you can't really tell from aerial photography, is a little bit of elevation change in the park layout. As silly as that sounds, it makes a world of difference in Islands of Adventure, especially from Lost Continent all the way to Jurassic Park. Just that 10 ft change in height gives the whole environment a different feel. I'm hoping they've done this with Volcano Bay, particularly behind the kid's play area and then again over by the QSR on the southern tip of the park. It would be a nice touch considering there's a 200 ft volcano protruding from the middle of it.

The drop slide is just what I wanted, with the clear plastic and the waterfalls. I find a slide like that is not really that intense though, except for the psychological factor, when I did The Bomb in W&W, the only thing I did not like was that the height of the water in the exit lane really hurt my read and privates. Now, the other two drop slides will probably very intense, as they are bigger versions of Aquatica's Ihu's, and that one packs a punch. Anyway, I hoping to go in September, wish I could add it to my pass, and though $99 seems reasonable, well, then next year the whole pass will be more expensive, so I'll just go once and forget about the pass lol

Excited for the water coaster as well, dreamed of it once,, it was really nice and included a barrel roll, though somehow I doubt it will have one in reality. I remember, even when I was dreaming this I thought this was ought, especially since there were no seat belts and I nicely stayed in the boat :)

Yep. But I've a plan....

The 2 boys, 11 and 14 year old's, are dying to give it a run. so, the Plan is: send the youngest down first. If he survives with suit intact and all appendages still attached- send the 14 year old next since he's 6ft and I'm 6'4". If he survives with everything intact and without needing to do the dreaded "towel-wrapped run of shame" to the facilities... I'm good to go. Then I'm headed straight to the strongest rum drink(s) at Kunuku.

Though, depending on the reviews, the whole Kunuku Boat Bar, rum drink thing may have to happen before heading up those stairs, and maybe while on the stairs.....

I do know elevation helps out with the entrance. The grand reveal of the Volcano and the surrounding areas is fantastic.

I can't agree more. I think this is what is missing from all the Orlando parks in general. This is number 1 on my wish list for the 4th park.

Thats part of the reason they say lean back and cross your legs. Get comfortable lean back, cross legs somewhat tight, and clench cheeks and pain should not occur.

Good point. The Bomb is the only slide I ever really had this, Ihu's I never have any problem, but then, the water level in Ihu's runway was not that high, whereas in The Bomb it was rather high. The only other slide that is a little painful is Dolphin Plunge which is rough on the back.

It amazes me how closely the profile of the volcano matches the concept art! :faint:

Does anyone else find the whole "Water Theme Park" thing really annoying especially now that it's almost complete and we can see how bad the back side of the Volcano looks with that gigantic opening revealing all the supports and such?
That plus clearly there are no show scenes inside the volcano? So what makes this a "theme park"? The fact that they built a volcano in the middle of it?
Ok... but so what does that make Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon? Those disney water parks have just as much if not more theming and they still acknowledge the fact that it's a water park. They even have an AA on the new slide at the disney park. Something Volcano Bay doesn't seem to have.

Does it really matter? How does the name of it personally affect your experience?

Valid points but let's wait until we experience it in person before reviewing it or comparing it to anything, shall we?

That waterfall is 10x more effective than the ones in Pandora.

Yep

Also, elevation changes occur around the Volcano, entrance and wave pool.

Well clearly it matters to me lol.
I don't like water parks in the first place. I thought maybe this place would be somewhat different. It's showing to not be that different. More of the same of what Disney has been doing for decades.
I find it misleading to try to market this as a Theme Park when it is clearly just a water park with some great (though unfinished looking) rock work.
I refuse to call this Universals Third gate. That's my point. Nothing here elevates this to "Theme Park" status.

I was just about the same. Universal is cheeky, perhaps, by adding 'theme', but they don't hide the fact that it is a water park. Plus, before it was W&W, so compared to that ...
