I.e rules. Most Broadway theatres with a hit will allow touring but no standing show in any other city within the same country. Do you see a standing show for Wicked in Chicago? No. Vegas. No.

Vegas had a no travel clause. Which means exclusive why? Because it limit peoples. Which is what I said in the original statement. The reasoning Gerswhin wouldn't want Orlando to have a standing show.

There's a sit-down version of Hamilton in Chicago going on as we speak.

It's not permanent though. It's the start of a longer tour. The show in Chicago is going on for like 6 months or something before touring.

That's not the point. It's still a second version of a popular show.

Like I said earlier, if anyone thinks a Wicked show in the swamps would affect the ticket sales in NYC, you're just flat wrong.

Philly gets absolutely screwed for shows being close to NYC. Often it is almost more expensive to see a show in Philly full price vs cheaper discount and bus in NYC. Chicago gets shows regularly that are current as they assume people won't travel to nyc (as they got Hamilton), but they do also lock the majority of tickets to packages vs single ticket discounts.

Wicked would be more likely in orlando than most places to affect NYC sales in that it is also a overseas destination market, but you can probably count on unique visitors to either site to boost overall numbers.

Blue Man Group has shows in New York, Vegas, Boston, and Chicago in addition to Universal, plus touring. A show in Orlando shouldn't cannibalize much of a show in New York's profits, especially since most Broadway shows tour before they close on Broadway. How many times has The Lion King or Wicked come to your town? And it's still kicking.

I would wonder why they wouldn't classify it as that, as there is more than enough material there that would warrant that being potentially problematic. Either way, it's interesting; nevertheless.

My only theory is social media team may have had some upheaval lately, new guys missed that part of the training. It should definitely have had some warning,

It might be a standard survey that goes to guests fairly often, so marking it confidential would be sort of pointless since several thousands of people will see it. In that sense, rather than this being some "today we're considering..." it's moreso a "we've considered" mixed with "and this week this option was added to the mix."

I suspect the things that exist, but weren't explicitly named, were probably in that survey before they were built. So guests picked them and they rose to the top in the trends and they got built (aka: sports bar with craft beers.) The others are either long standing options that will have reliable benchmarks (sock store anyone?) and then maybe a few things they are seriously considering.

If the SNL lounge is the new addition they can say "well, there's more interest in it than the sports bar, which makes XYZ after ABC investment, but it's still less popular than the sock store."

And someone in the boardroom goes "Well, that's disappointing, looks like we open another sock store. People love those - have for decades."

Probably too soon for this kind of turn-around, but I'm curious if the sci fi/horror store is Gods & Monsters.

Not necessarily - sometimes.. or well, often... the decision is sort of already made and then goes to the BigBig for approval to release the funds and the BigBig goes "...and the feedback justifying this expense is...?" and then a study is cobbled together and people are called in and guests are aggressively screened and the analysts work overtime so that before the next meeting - where the LittleBig has already planned a full powerpoint presentation of his might-be-axed plan - can say "Well, they wont hate it."

It is not uncommon for a play to have a long run in LA while it is still on Broadway. The Lion King was at The Pantages for over 2 years.

And I suspect this servey is judging interest for their 2 new builds (I-Drive & Shingle Creek).

I could see them going with something like a How To Train Your Dragon show at the I Drive property with a giant family suite resort. Along with the pizza place, and a combo Sports Bar/Bowling Alley/High End Arcade.

And I could see a Wicked show coming to the Shingle Creek resort area along with some higher end dining and shopping.

Starting today, Citywalk has dropped parking charges for everyone after 6PM. (Before only FL residents got the free parking). It'll be later for HHN nights though.

Interesting. Are they hurting after the Disney Springs re-do or something?

They should drop the resort parking fee the day after Disney announces they are adding one. That'd be hilarious.

They'll just fold them right into the rate... like Disney does.

I think its more so a good will move. When people don't feel nickeled and dimed, they are more likely to have a better time.

This is business. There must have been a drop-off in dining, shopping, theatergoers, etc.

I'm thinking they saw a bump while DS was a mess and under construction and then the crowds normalized again. This is then trying to attract those people back especially those closer to UOR.

The parking is filled to capacity at times and they are building more. I would say that indicates it is doing well. It could be that Disney doesn't feel like they are squeezing enough money out of people there though.
