I'm looking at pricing and it looks like they are pricing VB single day prices the same prices as USF and IOA single-day. As @Dan B says above, they seem to really be pushing the "value" of a 3-day ticket.

Of course for the money people spend for a 3-day ticket I could buy an AP.

Makes sense, prolonging people's stays with a 3 park ticket will increase hotel stays and hopefully (from Comcast point of view) knock days off the competition.

AP is often the best route, as a UK visitor I have often had the pass as it usually makes the most sense, especially if you can make a return trip to Florida before it expires, heck I got 3 trips in 12 months once and that made it super VFM.

Don't think I will get the AP this trip though as

  1. I know I won't be back within 12 months,
  2. Will be pulling in trips to SW and BGT
  3. only on Uni for a week.
In this instance the 14 day pass which includes SW and BGT is the better option.

As for the water park it will be interesting how they filter in into APs and other multi day/multi park tickets.

14 days at Disney and 14 days at Universal for £629
http://www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk/orlando-combination-ticket-packages/disney-universal-combo-ticket-including-universal’s-volcano-bay™

Nothing on the Orlando Flex Ticket yet, although it does note that Wet'n'Wild is going away so the Flex Ticket expires at the end of the year. Hopefully we'll know more in 2017.

http://www.attraction-tickets-direc.../5-park-orlando-combo-ticket?ref=tickets_list goes up by about £70 in 2017 and removes the free parking. Wonder if it will get added there?

Will be interesting with these tickets is if Aquatica gets dropped for Volcano Bay.

LOL...no, I live up in Palm Beach county, near Wellington, but I grew up in Coral Springs, so I 've been to Las Olas a lot. I've only been to American Social a couple times. Overpriced and overcrowded, not unlike most places on Las Olas.

Also, My wife and I graduated from FSU..so you probably shouldn't have added that last part..LOL.

As I understand it, the Orlando Flex Ticket will no longer be a thing as of January 1st.

Universal Tickets in the UK only shows the Flex Ticket for 2016, all the other tickets they sell have 2017 pricing up already the Universal Orlando™ 3 Park Explorer Ticket is £241 for an Adult ticket. And I plan on doing my split stay in Sept next year so VB should be nicely open by then.

I cant imagine the power pass having volcano bay built in given the renewal rate, but could given the new pass rate. If they charge 105 for a single day, that would be looney, but punishing guests that heavily for going a single day is the norm in Orlando these days. It could be the best water park in Orlando but not $45 to $50 more than anyone else especially given typhoon will have the new water coaster. I just hope universal never goes full Disney and blocks non Florida residents from the cheaper season passes.

I wouldn't think any of the existing APs would get grandfathered in to include VB.
I think the most fair way is to pay a "prorated" amount of the difference of whatever new pass they come out with if you wanted to.
I'm fully expecting to see a plethora of new passes. Likely 6 or 8- 2 park and 3 park passes seasonal/power/preferred/premier (or maybe just an "add-on" option which is essentially 8). Say the 2 park seasonal is 285 and 3 park seasonal is 365- and you have 6 months left on the pass, you can pay $40 to upgrade to the 3 park from the 2 park instead of the $80 difference.

In no way do I expect them to just "include" VB for existing passholders- although it will be funny to see people complain about why they aren't included for free (as if they bought their AP with that expectation).

If Universal's goal is to get people to stay on-site and for extended periods (the way they do at Disney), then why don't they offer 6, 7, even 8-day tickets?

Especially at their new water park. Don't forget, they owned Wet n Wild for years before bulldozing it. I think in every way VB is designed to correct the mistakes made at WnW.

They do, it's called the 3-Park Unlimited.

I think there will probably be 2-Park and 3-Park Annual Passes, just like there are 2-Park and 3-Park tickets.

Like adding VB to any pass you have as an option?

It probably won't be any different than if you were to upgrade from a Power to a Preferred, or a Preferred to a Premier, or whatever. Just pay the difference in price. Seems like it'd be the simplest solution.

Water park tickets are typically "add on" tickets anyway. Only locals really do one day passes. Maybe they will do a "water park only" annual pass, for the locals that want to lay out while their kids play around.

The other thing to remember is that Orlando still gets plenty cold. An annual water pass, will have a much more diminished value due to the park not being open in the late fall/winter. So it may end up being the best option for locals.

A premier AP already costs $539.99, I honestly can't see how much more they can push that price up to add a third gate on to the offerings. Bear in mind that this is exactly what they are pitching VB as - a third theme park, not a water park. I don't think they will follow Disney's 'waterpark add-on' model at all.
I predict it will be included with the top AP, which will most likely get a $30 or so inflation increase before June 2017.
