With how Shrek is featured on banners and the digital LED displays on the outskirts of the resort, I would hope Universal is considering or knows the IP deserves more justice then just a play set and basic area in Dreamworks land. Simpsons's plot isn't big enough for a fully immersive land, but something like an expanded Shrek presence could fit the bill.

To me Wicked if comes to UOR it's Epic or bust if you want to make it as immersive as it can (and should be) to do the IP justice. The Springfield plot just doesn't cut it. If they are other factors holding them back, wait it out to do it right in Epic.

There is a 20 or so acre expansion plot between Stardust and HTTYD. It's just a matter of finding a place for an entrance.

And it needs to be LotR. Not wicked. Not Zelda. Not any other property except LotR.

Pay whatever you have to pay; do whatever you have to do. And then find a way to park hop from there to the 4th gate once they eventually is built.

They announced they had started working on the new movie in February. That was three months after For Good released. That means the response to For Good was well known but irrelevant to the idea of more films. It also hasn’t even been six months.

The film adaptation was originally announced in 2012 and released in 2024. Just because there hasn’t been any update in the last six months, that doesn’t mean Universal isn’t hot on the property.

-USF is getting F&FHD and unknown Supercharged retheme
-IOA is getting Pokémon
-EU is getting DU expansion and Zelda

EU is getting the Dark Universe expansion and a Potter expansion. Zelda is 5 years out at the earliest.

Talking out of my ass, so someone can and should correct me, but I imagine this is the order?

- F&F: Trackwork is almost complete
- HP: Permits filed first
- Dark Universe: Permits filed after HP
- Supercharged: Closing this month. Turnaround time fully depends on the replacement and urgency
- Pokemon/Lost Continent: Demolition stage. No build permits yet (iirc)
- Zelda: No progress at all

Maybe switch Supercharged around if they don’t let it sit for a while.

Made a trek out to LC for the first time in a few months. Was honestly worried I might've been too late. They've been bringing it down so fast that'd I thought it was decently likely Poseidon's would already be gone by now; but when I showed up, here's what I saw:






It is wild how prominent this husk is in the skyline around the area currently. Such an impressive facade that even in death, it stuns. Can't imagine it'll be like that for much longer now. Like I said earlier, I can't imagine Poseidon lasts the next few weeks.

It's pretty crazy to walk back over to the former Fountain / Sinbad area and just seeing nothing over those fences. Really makes it all a lot more real. I wonder how much of LC makes it past this year?

The only other thing spotted along the LC skyline from guest paths, and really just barely over the fences, is this sole pike. Little guy is still hanging in there. You can see their more fortunate siblings behind it, still holding up the fabrics for the HTTYD shop.

I have a feeling they are still in the process of negotiating prices at the Epic expansion pads and that’s why construction hasn’t started.

But here it’s ready to go.

I think Supercharged depends on if they're going to use the same ride system or not. I'm guessing they'd like it to open in 2028 with one of the Epic expansions and the other Epic expansion in 2029 with hopefully the LC replacement in the same year or 2030 at the latest.

Jolt my memory if need be, but wasn't the notion that the Potter EU expansion would come before the Dark Universe one?

So the timeline would be:

2027: Hollywood Drift (or as I like to call it, Orlando Drift)

2028: Potter EU expansion

2029: Dark Universe expansion and Pokemon

2030: Simpsons replacement (Shrek?)

2031 beyond: anyones guess but Zelda finally, possibly a new EU land (Wicked?) or maybe something we haven't though of yet

I left out a Supercharged replacement for now since it doesn't appear to be a high priority thing at the moment to UOR management.

2030: Simpsons replacement (Shrek?)

I genuinely do not see this happening with Shrek already in DreamWorks Land. The representation they have for Shrek is fine for the time being. DreamWorks Land is already a massive area, and I don't think it would be wise to basically "expand" it into Springfield. That's just too much real estate dedicated to DreamWorks properties in one park.

They're moving pretty fast.

I see this being set for Summer 2029. Would be a great way to pull guests away from Piston Peak if Disney is aiming for a similar timeframe.

It's an (almost) brand new building in the middle of the park on the way to the most popular area in the park. I don't think they'll leave the building standing there for years. I can see it being a budget project though.

After that I think we'll get a break. That's a ton of investment into the parks in a short amount of time, especially after just opening a brand new park.

Obviously Hollywood Drift comes first because it's furthest along, but why wouldn't Pokemon at IOA (if it's indeed Pokemon) come next? Yes, EU needs more rides for capacity. But building Pokemon would draw more people back to IOA (and for park hoppers Universal Studios), which would help alleviate some of that. But more importantly, of all those rumored additions, I have to think Pokemon would bring in the most $ by far. If I'm Universal, and my parent company just spun me off, I'd be doing everything I could to get Pokemon built ASAP, then turn my attention to other projects, even if those other projects were further along in permits or plans.

This isn't really the thread for this, but I'll just say the Supercharged replacement had better be a priority and it had better not be some kind of budget-engineered thing!
