The audition page for some of the entertainment at Scary Farm is up. Specifically, they are looking for stunt actors for The Hanging and dancers for the Gore-ing 20's area. Something else interesting is this audition for an outdoor show. My guess is this will be replacing Carnaval du Grotesque as it mentions an outdoor venue. Personally, I can't wait to see what they're working on.
Knott's Scary Farm Entertainment is casting energetic and vivacious skilled performers of Black or African descent for an exciting new stage show. Performers should aim to exceed guest expectations and provide the highest quality of entertainment Please bring a photo and a performance resume. Rehearsals will begin in September 2026. An ideal candidate is available to work all scheduled rehearsal and event dates.

Dancers:

Dancers of Black or African descent with a strong rhythmic foundation rooted in African and diasporic movement traditions, ensemble vocal ability, and captivating stage presence. Aerial and vertical stunt capability is a plus. A dance combination will be taught at the audition.

Actors:

FEMALE Principal Actor. A spiritual guide. Seeking an actor of of Black or African descent with uninhibited talent and stage presence to command a large outdoor space.

MALE Principal Actor. Seeking a performer of Black or African descent who can hold death and sensuality in the same breath, dark humor and dangerous charm.

Horrible value considering the event used to be free.

Yeah, I don't want to yuck in anyone's yum, but it was a hard pass for me at that price. Last year the whole thing ran late, but the event still concluded at the regular time so you really had to cram in what you wanted. I've been attending these events since they were free for passholders and inside the Walter Knott Theater, and having it be a simpler, one presentation event worked just fine.

That being said, I don't think that charging a $10/$15 fee is really that outrageous considering they expanded the event signifigantly. The jump to $35 was pretty jarring, and even at that cost it didn't feel like it was worth it. When the rumors started swirling about this year being $50, I almost couldn't believe it.

And yet I already heard it sold out... which is really crazy for an event where, if you don't go, you basically get all the same info on YouTube/Social Media 10 seconds after it's announced in person

That's the thing, though, right? Market demand at this point is clearly telling them that if they sell out on the first day of availability at $50, they aren't charging enough, and they should raise the price.

This is essentially an influencer tax, and it will be paid because it's exclusivity and extremely limited capacity. We simply live in a world where value must be extracted at all levels, and the fans are an afterthought. This is not a defense in any way, but I'm simply noting we likely haven't seen the price ceiling for this event.

On the plus side, the Scary Farm season pass remains philanthropic... for now.

Yup it sucks, and I don’t blame Knott’s for doing this.

There is no way I would pay $50 to attend an announcement event but I guess there’s a lot of people that do.
