Book and look often to rebook. I booked 03/27-03/30 back in January for right under $800. Every so often it would drop a little bit. I checked the week of travel, in fact I think it was two days before and I was all in for about $360.

I’m seeing $271 a night for Aventura for those days. Have you usually stayed that long before?

Yeah, that's nuts for Aventura. I'd never spend that when SF is not much more. Lots of time left, the price will definitely drop again.

Was messing around and 9/15-9/20 and DOCKSIDE IS $300. This is higher than spring break!

Something is up and the prices will come down.

Seems like all the hotel rates are high for that period. Is that a significant week for HHN since the week after your dates are significantly less? Definitely too high for a hotel like Aventura. ....Often, if bookings are soft, you'll see a number of hotel discount offers pop up sometime in August. Perhaps that will happen again this year, since discounts popped up in August the last couple of years.

My only guess is that’s right in the sweet spot for Rush of Fear. I’m not aware of anything else.

My rate for Aventura in October is also high not sure how much or if it will come down but will take it. HHN I have found is usually more expensive but the Mondays and Tuesdays that HHN is off can be dirt cheap

I've been keeping track Daily and it was this price the day before I was going to buy. This was around 2 weeks ago. Hasn't been this low since. Yeah it shouldn't be as high as it is right now and should go down eventually I assume. Yeah for the past 2 years I've been staying around these times and prices are usually very reasonable during that time.

It was around $190 a night.

So first of all, Loews left a bunch of money on the table for many years - I remember years ago listening in on someone at the World of Beer on Sand Lake bragging about how “high” Portofino’s ADR was and I nearly burst out laughing over how sorry the number he said was. Partnering with a tiny company like Loews wasn’t exactly a great choice for Universal, but it was a great deal for visitors for many years.

Second, midscale hotel pricing is completely out of whack right now. Owners blame labor/other costs but the reality is that most midscale hotels are owned by poorly capitalized owners (relative to big boxes) and financed by interest-only loans. A lot of hotels were insulated from interest rate increases for a bit of time, but once they had to refi they jacked up rates.

Unfortunately, given the market as a whole, Aventura is definitely a 250-300 per night hotel when you factor in what it would cost to stay nearby + the on-site benefits like transportation and early admission.

(If you couldn’t tell, affordable access to hotels so people can afford to travel is a bit of a passion point for me)

In the late 90s when they first partnered it was deffinatley more of a "Loews helping out poor Universal" situation.

Makes sense. Why else would Universal hand over all that potential money that the original three Hotels use to attract guests, namely unlimited Hotel Express. If there was no Hotel Express, I'd guess the rates the deluxe hotels (Portofino, Hard Rock, and Royal Pacific) can demand, would be considerably less. Definitely Universal was in the lesser role back then...............Note to new posters; Hard Rock three way owned. Loews only puts their high end hotel brand name on the top hotels but manages all the others, not using their name.

Express was added after Port opened, so my theory is Universal threw that in to attract guests to the rooms as a show of good faith and to get Loews to build RP. Just my speculation of course.

Makes sense....Bottom line....as guests we have the best possible amenity a theme park hotel could possibly offer, namely unlimited ride Express.

Note: My first stay at Portofino was early May 2011. We booked for 6 nights before we moved onto WDW. The hotel was a ghost town. I asked around and they said it was only 20% occupied, but they were expecting to start getting busy at the end of the month and then all summer. The Potter craze was just starting then but not always solid attendance during slow periods.....By our trip in 2012, same time of year, it was busy....and is always busy when we're there now, unless there's weather or travel issue mass cancellations., like we experienced during the govt. budget shutdown in November last year.
