I've seen the work they're doing on the slides, and they totally look brand new with very spiffy paint jobs. My only concern is I hope the rest of the park area and buildings have gotten equal attention. I'm not super optimistic, but even just the new looking slides are a big improvement.

Just hope it gets a new slide or two... it literally hasn't gotten a new slide in about 10 years. How can the "coaster capital of the world" not have a water coaster?

best they can do is add another Dippin Dots cart

You'd think for the 30th anniversary, they'd at least add something other than a face-lift. Of course if they had built a parking garage, they could expand the Waterpark. Oh well.

Parking garages are ridiculously expensive... there's kind of a reason that only Disneyland and Universal have them. In fact, I can't think of any other theme park in the US that has it's own parking garage. So that's never going to happen.

And really, Hurricane Harbor (and for that matter, SFMM) doesn't really need more space for attractions. There's plenty of space, they just have to use it.

Parking garages are also terrible for traffic.

Six Flags needs to do A LOT of backstage facility shifting. That's valuable space to use as well.

Flat parking lots are dumb. And huge. At least Six Flags has the tram. Waiting for it sucks & that walk is hell

Parking garages vs parking lot is no different when it comes to traffic, they all have to go the same way in/out. Of course if it is routed correctly, that traffic can be minimized.

Six Flags needs so much work done thanks to all the years of neglect. Also I'm kinda surprised that with the new bus stop near X2, they didn't finally have a sidewalk paved to the park entrance.

Also. Any parking garage in CA is going to cost millions more than if it was built in any other state. Mainly due to earthquake regulations.

I am perfectly fine with them sticking with a good ol fashioned flat parking lot

You must also hate Knott's parking. And Cedar Point's. And Dollywood. And Carrowinds. And Great America. And... well, again, basically every theme park parking in the world outside of Disney and Universal. Let's be real here. And yeah, the walk isn't great, but it isn't much worse, than, say, Knotts, which has no tram service at all.

It does, and it does still have a long way to go. But it also needs to be recognized that many improvements have happened:
  • New bathrooms at The Underground, Steampunk, and behind Emporium
  • New Underground area
  • New park map by Drop of Doom
  • Lots of repainting (nearly all the shops by the main entrance)
  • Main front of park waterfalls are back, improved seating at the coffee area near it, new signage there and the video screen removed
  • Magic Mover working again
  • Goliath and Tatsu repainted
  • Additional mazes for Fright Fest
  • New sign off the freeway
  • All old ticket booths removed, and entrance repainted, fences at security area installed
  • Solar panel parking lot completed (something that I thought I'd never see actually get done)
  • Roaring Rapids restored
  • Lower pagoda station repainted
  • Jet Stream entrance redone
Just to list a few things.... not to mention the rumored restoration of the Sky Tower.

Now, I can't lie... there's an equal list of things that still need to be fixed, and yes, I do agree it was due to a lot of neglect and/or focus on just building big coasters. But let's also not pretend nothing has been done lately.

A bit more Hurricane Harbor related, but dang those slides look good. And a new entrance is looking nice (though I will assume landscaping is coming... but like the new low wood fence, and you can see posts for a larger fence in the background.

Also, they fenced off the bus lane in the main parking lot. Other minor updates not posted here: a pretty nice looking repainted Emporium and mobile food ordering tableside at Full Throttle Bar

So new for 2026 along side the coaster is a replacement for the mat racer?

Based on what I can see from Goliath/Drop of Doom, that space is still currently dirt... so not sure what's going to replace it, if anything

To add a splash of storytelling magic to its 30th anniversary, Hurricane Harbor LA is embracing a playful backstory rooted in the spirit of fun and imagination. Designed as an immersive overlay for the park’s vibrant transformation, this creative narrative reimagines the waterpark as a tropical island village founded by a crew of spirited pirates who traded their high-seas adventures for island hospitality.

According to the tale, the village—led by the cheerful Captain Cuttlefish—was nearly wiped out by a fierce storm. But the resilient islanders rebuilt, turning the wreckage into artful new attractions and vibrant décor. Sunken ships became towering slides, driftwood became benches, and the shimmering Forgotten Sea was restored as the heart of the community. And legend has it, if you look closely enough, you might even spot clues to the pirates’ long-lost treasure still hidden somewhere in plain sight.

This whimsical origin story now weaves its way through the park’s updated theming and design—from the lush landscaping that mirrors the “island’s” regrowth to the custom-painted slides that look like treasures brought to life. It’s a creative tribute to transformation, resilience, and the joy of rediscovery—inviting guests to escape into a colorful world of water-filled wonder, where every detail hints at a story only Hurricane Harbor LA could tell.

A Splashy New Look for a Milestone Season

This spring, Hurricane Harbor LA underwent an extensive visual revitalization that included restoring slides, repainting key areas, refreshing landscaping, and beautifying the entire park environment. To bring this vision to life, the park partnered with Safe Slide Restoration, a leading name in waterpark refinishing and surface restoration. Over the course of five months, Safe Slide’s expert team gave the park’s most beloved slides and structures a brilliant new shine, using vibrant, UV-resistant coatings and resurfacing techniques designed to enhance both safety and appearance. Several slides even received a one-of-a-kind, custom paint job—unique to Hurricane Harbor LA—giving the park’s skyline a splash of signature color guests won’t see anywhere else.

Hurricane Harbor’s 30th birthday is not about new rides—it’s about celebrating the magic that’s already here, reimagined for today’s guests. The revitalized color schemes breathe new life into classic attractions, making them more photo-worthy than ever before. Park favorites like Bonzai Pipelines, Tornado, and Lost Temple Rapids now shine with updated finishes that stay true to the original theming while elevating the visual impact.

With the newly enhanced landscaping playing a starring role, the park feels more inviting and immersive than ever. Palm trees sway alongside lazy river paths, new garden zones line entryways and dining patios, new grass and flower beds surround slides with pops of color that complement the park’s refreshed branding. A new sound system with upgraded speakers will immerse guests in the tropical world of the island village, enhancing the atmosphere throughout the park. Team members will debut brand-new uniforms designed to match the themed environment, deepening the sense of adventure. Updated signage will bring a cohesive look to each attraction, while newly renovated restrooms offer added comfort and convenience. The park’s iconic volcano will now come to life with rumbling effects and bursts of mist, adding unexpected thrills to your visit. And coming soon, Tornado will debut a state-of-the-art conveyor belt to carry tubes to the top—giving guests more time to enjoy the fun, without the climb.

Something for Everyone

Whether you’re in it for the thrill or the chill, Hurricane Harbor LA has something for every type of guest. Big-time adventurers will find heart-pounding slides like Tornado, Taboo Tower, and Black Snake Summit, while guests seeking a slower pace can enjoy the River Cruise or soak up the sun in a private cabana near the Forgotten Sea Wave Pool.

Families with young children will love the interactive splash zones, including Splash Island and Castaway Cove, both of which are designed for maximum fun in a safe and shaded environment. With lifeguards stationed throughout the park and multiple dining and snack areas, parents can enjoy peace of mind and convenience while the kids play.

As one of California’s premier water parks, Hurricane Harbor LA continues to be a top choice for both locals and visitors. Its proximity to Magic Mountain allows guests to enjoy a full day of thrills and chills, whether they choose to split time between the parks or focus on soaking up the water fun.

Glad they finally made effort for the Waterpark restoration/refurbishment. Too bad they couldn't add another slide/food location/seating as well, maybe next year?

Knott's needs to give Soak City an overhaul refurbishment too

I'll be excited to see the park

From what I've seen from walking next to the park, so much work is happening

As Wesker said we need another food location and another slide.
