This thread is dedicated to all Speculation & Rumors for this year's Halloween Horror Nights 34 event at Universal Orlando.

As always, we ask that all speculation come from realistic expectations and adds to the discussion. Please keep discussions about wishful thinking/dream properties to the HHN Wish List threads. Official news will be shared on the News & Info thread.

We will be monitoring this thread very closely. We understand the appeal of a new speculation season and everyone is antsy to start talking about what's next. At the same time, we don't want the threads to devolve into chaos. We kindly ask you to please respect the guidelines of discussion so we can avoid locking discussions.

Thanks.

DISCLAIMER: This thread contains discussion centered around rumors and sometimes could include baseless speculation, and should be treated as such. Posts are not confirmations. Any official announcements for HHN will be shared on our main site, InsideUniversal.net

Stranger Things final season being part of the event or not, I think will be the hottest speculation topic.

It shouldn’t be. Six Flags is the frontrunner for it.

If the two HHN rumors I’m already hearing for 2025 are accurate, it will already be a stronger IP lineup than this year. If what I’m speculating comes true, it will be a very strong IP lineup.

Not Stranger Things, and on the Discord you said not Terrifier and (for the moment) not FNaF, so I'm fascinated as to what these two could potentially be. No Monsters makes sense.

At this moment in time, I'm feeling that the frontrunners for next year are:

The Last of Us Part 2 (Video Game) - With the second season of TLoU premiering next year, HHN's close partnership with Sony over the last few years, and the IP's popularity in 2023, I feel like this is the most likely franchise to appear at the event.

Blumhouse: M3GAN & The Black Phone 2 - The event has promoted Blumhouse properties heavily in recent years, and it would make sense to feature their two franchises that will be getting sequels next year.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - While WB IPs tend to be a rarity at the event these days, Beetlejuice may be a special case due to the park already having the license to use the character. This could fill the role of the more marketable and family friendly IP of the event.

Jason Voorhees - The "Jason Universe" initiative that was announced earlier this year listed "immersive experiences" as a part of their plan. With the major legal issues with the IP seemingly over, Jason could potentially serve as a "classic slasher" headliner for the event.

Other IPs I feel that could potentially show up are FNaF (if an agreement can be made with the creator), Smile (never seen it, but people keep talking about it), Silent Hill, and possibly Thanksgiving? (might be too niche, but it is getting a sequel next year).

I do believe the claim that we won't be getting Universal Monsters next year, as it's probably time for a break after 6 consecutive years, plus the fact that they'll now have a year-long presence at Epic going forward.

Agreed, and admittedly I'm fine with that since for me the past two Stranger Things houses haven't really hit like the 1st back in 2018. Yes, they've been drawing the lines every iteration, but for me I'd rather deal with a long line for a house that hits stronger.

I would love to see Terrifier come to the event, more than FNAF (movie). I would like it if HHN and Blum House took a break from each other, starting to turn into the walking dead for me. Also I agree that the Universal Monsters IP not returning next year is good because in my opinion it’s been getting stale and somewhat lackluster the past 2 years. It would be cool to see the following:

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Fright Night
IT (both part 1 & 2)
Beetlejuice and Beetlejuice 2
Abigail
The Conjuring (just these movies in the franchise)
Maybe something from The Twilight Zone
Aliens
What We Do In The Shadows (TV Show)
Evil Dead Rise

But if Universal Orlando’s HHN team has acquired big name IP’s for the 2025 season, then HHN34 will be awesome! But I’ll still love it either way!

There’s no way Aliens or Shadows will be coming to HHN as they’re owned by Disney.

HHN 34 predictions

1st tier, very confident these will happen:

The Last of Us Part 2

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Terrifier (based on either 2-3, could be both or possibly an original take on the IP)

- Aiello really loved the 3rd movie and since he's the creative lead for next year, I'm very confident this will happen. Especially after the success of the new movie and how popular Art the clown has gotten. Seems unavoidable at this point. I would also just love to have a Christmas house next year!!!

Horror of Blumhouse Vol 4. Featuring M3GAN 2.0 & Wolf Man.

- about this one, I could also see this house being focused solely on Wolf Man without it being HOB. But I'm not 100% sure. I just have a feeling that if we're not getting FNAF, these are the most likely candidates for the Blumhouse IP next year.

2nd tier, possible but not completely sure yet:

FNAF

Smile 1-2

- The 2nd movie was fantastic. Also another huge box office success, especially after AQP being at this year's event I feel like unlike Scream, this is an easy IP get with Paramount. I also think if they do this house right it could be very similar to the Weeknd houses with the 2nd movie being about an music artist. It would be really cool to see!

Creature from the Black Lagoon

- Wouldn't be surprised if the UM houses are done with but I hope we get at least one last UM house. Everyone wants Creature so, why not do it? I know it wouldn't be easy but it's possible.

A Quiet Place: Day One

- Only if TLoU 2 doesn't happen. I could see this coming to HHN 35.

Stranger Things 5

- Though I do think that ST5 will most likely come in 2026 to HHN, I could see them pushing for it to be next year. We'll see lol.

3rd tier, not likely to happen but IPs I would love to see next year

Scream

- After the success of AQP this year, it would be nice if they finally worked it out with Paramount to do Scream. Will it happen? Probably not. But it would be a huge surprise and definitely draw in huge crowds.

Nightmare on Elm Street

Silent Hill 2

Friday The 13th

Originals I want to see happen

• Mardi Gras Murders, Mummy Strippers Unwrapped or Zyborgs. Out of all the SS2 films I feel like these are the most likely to get their own house.

• XMAS related house. An original take on the Krampus mythology could be really cool!

• Invasion house. It looked like a great scarezone and seems ripe for it's own house.

• Pirate themed house. How has this not already happened!? It would be so fun.

• ICON related house. I'm really hoping we get another icon next year, whether it's a new character or a returning one. If we do get one, I hope whoever it is gets their own house. I still think it was a mistake for them to not give Sinister/Surreal their own house. Probably could've used them in Museum tbh.

• A Fairy tale related house. I want something akin to the Eight Fingers Nine: The Boogeyman house from KSF. I feel like something in that tone/genre would really work at HHN Orlando. They've done houses like it before, more recently the 2021 house Revenge of the Tooth Fairy.

General things I want to see at HHN 34

• 11-12 houses. They could finally use the Minion theater space or bring back one of the Parade Buildings. Maybe make a new house location utilizing a tent the same way Hollywood does.

• A new or returning Icon. I would prefer a new character but if we got The Director back that would be exciting. I would love for Cindy to finally become an icon. Also if it ends up being a new character, please have a great backstory. I loved Sinister/Surreal but their backstories were very weak and could've been a lot better.

• IP scarezone. Especially one that is more than a glorified photo op. As for what IP, honestly I don't know. I just want something like Trick R Treat back in 2017, that scarezone looked amazing.

• Not likely but please Universal... please do not increase prices for the FFP + Express again. Lol.

Don’t expect Wolfman. Leigh Whannel was furious about the [unapproved] costume revealing his character design, which basically ruined any first impression the initial trailers could have had.

I think it is both realistic and welcome if the Monsters are not back.

Things I could see coming:

TLOU Part 2 - Season 2 of the HBO series releases next year, and Neil Druckmann would be eager to come back to the event. The only argument I could see AGAINST this is that Part 2 will be split into multiple seasons.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Stranger Things 5 - this is basically a given for either 2025 or 2026. If Netflix has to choose between Six Flags and HHN, the choice is obvious.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Jason - as mentioned earlier, the "Jason Universe" was announced recently. With the rights issues now seemingly much less prevalent, now is as good a time as any to bring Jason Voorhees back to HHN (please)
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Dead by Daylight - still a very popular video game, but the main reason for this is Blumhouse. For those who didn't know, Blumhouse is making a Dead by Daylight movie. No timeline on release, but if it's next year or 2026, I could see it at the event.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Five Nights at Freddy's - obvious pick. Movie was huge and it would be a massive get for the event. Just a matter of if they want to attempt to get it again or not!
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Terrifier - I hate Terrifier but can't deny the level of popularity it has gotten. And if Aiello is a fan, that gives an even bigger chance.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Megan 2.0/The Black Phone 2 - both of these release next year, so I could see them doing another Blumhouse mashup with these properties. Black Phone 2 doesn't release until October, but they've obviously had houses prior to release before!
__________________________________________________________________________________________

The Weeknd - he was back in Hollywood this year, so I have to imagine the possibly could exist for him to return to the Orlando event as well.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Monstruos Part 2 - Hollywood did a second house this year. If Orlando determines their version was popular enough, we could possibly see it in Orlando too.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Something from Slaughter Sinema 2 - whether it be Mardi Gras Murders, Zyborgs, Heavy Metal 3D, etc.. it's almost a given that we'll get something from this house.
_________________________________________________________________________________________

This is less specific, but I can see them doing the "zone-to-house" treatment again. It worked well with Major Sweets, so that could be a possibility. Whether it's something from 2024 like Torture Faire or Swamp of the Undead, or something from a previous year such as Vanity Ball or Invasion - they may want to give this another shot.

Regarding Houses, except for Creature from the Black Lagoon, we should not get a Universal Monsters house next year. They've unfortunately lost their charm. Give them a break. I have to imagine Terrifier is a the top of the list. It's become a modern-day hit. I saw more people wearing Terrifier shirts than your typical Freddy/Myers/etc.

Other than that, the only speculation I'm interested in is if the event works on improving scare zones. They've been on a decline YoY and this year was a new low for them.

Woman in Black has a very HHN ready script. They might go for WIB + M3gan for a female-focused Blumhouse 2.

Black Phone presence also seems likely.

Some of my guesses for next year (which I’m sure will be grossly off):

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - Huge box office, character already has a presence in Orlando, would be a clear merch mover. As long as WBD is still playing ball with HHN this one feels obvious.

Friday the 13th/Jason - The door is open with Paramount now and they have the rights to the first four films so between that some early Legacy teases this is my current slasher guess. Also of course Jason is another merch mover.

M3GAN - The most popular Blum franchise outside of FNAF right now. With a sequel coming next year they may not even have to put it on a HoB style house either, just a house that features both M3GAN films. Again a merch mover. She was also the face of the Blumhouse zone and team last year and acted as more of a proper scare actor than she did with the horde so perhaps they were primer the character to make the house jump.

TLOU 2 - The first house was very popular, the next season of the show airs soon, seemingly a relatively easy IP to acquire, once again a merch mover. Unless for whatever reason they feel it’s too soon to do this one again or that they don’t have anything else to do with the IP this one just makes a lot of sense to me.

Terrifier - In the past the excessive gore has been a major concern here. But Terrifier 3’s box office is pretty hard to ignore and I’m sure creative could find a way to appropriately tone down the house enough, especially the third film, to make it work. We’ve hit a point where if they don’t at least explore this franchise as an option they may be leaving money on the table. Also we know Aiello is a fan and wouldn’t you know it just so happens that he’s back in charge.

Other possibilities I can think of:

Black Phone 2: Also a fairly popular Blumhouse franchise getting a sequel next year. If Uni does opt for the HoB style house I’m sure this will be the other film.

IT: Welcome to Derry: As far as I’m aware King isn’t involved in this project at all so Uni may have an easier track to acquiring this than did they with the 2017 and 2019 films if they wanted to like they did with The Shining. I think it comes down to is WBD still playing ball with HHN at all and assuming BJBJ would be Uni’s first pick, would they do two WBD properties in one event?

Smile - This is probably the “easiest” paramount IP to squire but I personally don’t think it would translate to a house well at all and it lacks a lot of that “punch” in terms of popularity/prestige that I think Uni will be aiming for next year.

Scream - Another possible case of the door being open with paramount and a clear merch win. Biggest question mark here is do Fun World and Spyglass play along and would they go for Ghostface over Jason?

FNAF - I’m sure they’ll try again here either this year or next but with Scott being Scott I’m not counting on it at the moment.

Silent Hill - There’s a new movie on the way and they’ve done the franchise before but I’m assuming TLOU and FNAF would be ahead of it in line for a video game IP slot.

AQP: Day One - The film did well at the box office and it’s an excuse to get more use out of the what I’m sure were expensive puppets and animatronics.

Quick originals wishlist:

Scary Tales - It’s time for a new installment especially with HHN leaning more into fantasy houses lately.

Heavy Metal Hell - This one feels the most house worthy from last year. I’d love to see something in a concert setting for this.

Christmas - while I wouldn’t want to see Killer Kringles specifically I would like a house with a similar vibe/setting

Sci Fi - I think we’re overdue for a sci fi house too, doesn’t have to be Zyborgs although I certainly wouldn’t complain if it was. But definitely something in the genre.

the only thing I hope for is dead by daylight as a scarezone. with the hooks and power generators and planks of wood.

I would really love them to bring it to the new York area.
having the theme song in the park.

Imagine a year with both Freddy & Jason in the park! Oh wait... ;)

Now a pure slasher IP year with both of them AND Ghostface AND Art in their own houses?? Bananas pipedream but let's manifest it against all odds lmao.

For non-IPs, put me in the camp that would love to see Zyborgs return. Out of all the SS2 segments, that's the one I felt had the most room for growth in terms of set & character design. A lot of the others were more fun but more one-note in what their premise could bring to the table. I wouldn't mind the Mardi Gras Murders jester show up in a more general Louisiana house though (Dead Waters/Bayou of Blood 2, anyone??).

However, before any SS2 room is expanded upon, I dream of Amazon Cannibals from Planet Hell to finally get their due.

Also going to advocate for a Vanity Ball house for probably an eternity.

I think it's been 10 years (9 events) since the Body Collectors were last seen. Barring Hellraiser getting it's own house, I would love to see either more Gentlemen or maybe even an expansion of Sinist3r's lore into a full house treatment to scratch that "freaky-but-classy gore house" itch.

I'm eager to see what direction things go in next year! "Strong IP lineup" could mean so many things in today's horror media landscape and that's kind of awesome to think about!
