If this is essentially Rock Crawling: The Ride Presented by Jeep Wrangler 4XE, I don’t think you’ll be going very fast. My guess is, unless there’s some kind of mud bogging section, you stay under 25 mph.

No I don’t think this is going to be a ride about speed with the terrain. There’s no room for the RVs to build speed. Plus the rumor that they are a new trackless technology.

Dropping this video again as I think this is very much what to expect. Expect it to be a different kind of thrill from near misses and sharp turns, etc. I just don’t see where high speeds can come into play. This video hypes up air time at the end so I wonder if that could actually be a thing that happens realistically.

I'm excited to enter new levels of discourse hithertofore unseen in the neverending debate of, "Why is this ride based on car/kart IP not fast".

Am I the only who is actually somewhat excited to see how this area turns out ??

I think valid points have been made on both sides of the discussion.

Overall though I feel Disney knows they have to deliver this new land on a grand scale.

I love that the main ride is not just a clone of RSR as that was my biggest concern with Cars coming to the east coast.

I think this is great for the park. While I respect the nostalgia and needs a break crowd, MK desperately needs some modern rides. Half(most?) of the rides in the park are great for sitting down and relaxing. They need more rides that the older kids/teens will enjoy. If this ends up as long as it looks, it'll be one of the more popular rides in the park.

Again, im not saying I am for this bc I personally don’t go over there a lot. While that is true, I actually LOVE the Liberty Belle and will be sad to see it go. But I also recognize that the space is incredibly underutilized and this will have wayyy more people enjoying this area of the park than ever before, which I personally believe is a win.

Understood and I'm NOT trying to single you out just trying to push back some on that line of thinking that if it's not driving 100% engagement (nothing personal!). What I'm trying to say is that not everything can be, or SHOULD BE, some sort of 100% use scenario. It's ok, and desirable, to have spots in parks designed not for guests and are just there to be nice. "Underutilized" goal posts will always be moved more and more. Maybe some of those are coming to Fronteirland 2.0 but that's on Disney for not announcing them.

I’m trying to get my bearings with the concept art. I see Big Thunder at the top so are we looking at this new land from Haunted Mansion?

I'd say the angle is if you were to send a drone up while standing in front of Hall of Presidents. The light blue roofed building in the foreground is the current launch point for the riverboat (which... kind of weird they're leaving that since there will be no boat).

The perspective of the new build and existing buildings seems slightly off though... the main drag of current Frontierland and the far side over by BTM make it seem like they took a photo, ran it through a Photoshop filter to make it look hand drawn, and then drew the new build in the middle with no actual detail of how existing and new will connect.

That's somewhat disappointing considering RSR tops out at 40 mph.

You, unfortunately, pointed out the current style of creating concept art for new attractions (that is released to the public). A lot of us theme park nerds tend to look at these as if they are the exact plans. Yes, they are based off the actual plans, but they’re not really going for that in a piece of concept art. They’re to evoke a reaction and a feeling of what it all could look like when finished.

Some concept art these days (can’t speak for this specific piece) is outsourced, even by WDI, to a firm or an individual with no real knowledge of how all the puzzle pieces fit together. They just want something to show off the idea to their investors and then to the public to get people excited about the idea. Not too worried about the details of what is shown.

The only thing that is ever really done 1:1 in theme park design are schematics, elevations and blueprints, and sometimes even those change during construction/scenic phases.

The resort has a much faster version of the same ride though, right? I like the idea that this is different than what already exists.

Some of the perspective weirdness of the concept art comes from the fact that it's apparently depicting Disneyland Paris' Frontierland buildings and Big Thunder.

Like @Jake S said, it’s not going for that level of thrill, it’s safe to say. I’d call this attraction a “semi thrilling scenic road trip,” vs the “race day,” style of RSR at DCA. Which, in a way, fulfills some of the loss of those majestic views you get on the ROA, while still adding capacity to a park that desperately needs it. And if you want those thrills, Test Track is still there to deliver even more than RSR can.

Edit:

Side note… now I’ve never been able to visit WDW, so this opinion could be way off base… but when you have this massive resort filled with places to just hang out and soak in the atmosphere (across the other parks, hotels, Disney Springs, and even the Seven Seas Lagoon just outside the main entrance) is an area like TSI and the ROA as necessary to the resort as a whole, as their counterparts are to the Disneyland Resort—which can’t offer anything like that outside of the main park’s gates?

Maybe I’m spoiled as a SoCal local, but if I visited Magic Kingdom today, I’d much rather be able to enjoy this new cars area inside the park, and then do my unwinding or take a breather at one of the many, many other places in the resort that offer that same feeling of tranquility.

The loss of both TSI and the ROA might really only affect locals who aren’t vacationing on the property.

Just an observation from a SoCal native :)

We both could be way wrong, but that does seem like the direction it is trending in. Perfect fit for an extension of Frontierland, honestly

I noticed they're sort of rebranding what Frontierland is. Instead of just thinking about in a narrow sense of the old, gold mining west, the modernized description is more about Americas frontiers in general. This cars area is Pacific Northwest. Even with this description I think it's a bit of a stretch to fit New Orleans into it all that well. I mean I guess one could certainly describe Louisiana and thus New Orleans as a frontier in the fact that it was literally purchased from France so it was at a time a new American frontier.

However, if it were me, i'd do a sub-section that's Bayou Country like Disneyland is doing, allowing for a specifically New Orleans section of the park, separate from the frontiers. Frontierland will certainly be large enough now to allow for this.

Yup - I don't mind this change, but I don't agree with "forcing" everything under the Frontierland brand/name. Just kill it and rebrand everything.

No need to keep Frontierland anymore. Just retheme a few facades and you can advertise 5 "new" lands at the Magic Kingdom (excl. Liberty Square).

Also, before anyone gets after me, I'm very neutral about HoP being remove, I just put it here for Blue Sky dreamin'.
