Great photo. I love that view even though I know the lazy river should be lined with greenery to hide some of the behind the scenes stuff.

Is VB the largest water park in the US?

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine the original Schlitterbahn in Texas has it beat in terms of the acreage of the park.

No golden spires on top of the aqua coaster? Hopefully they will come in at a later point. I think they were in concept art. Thats a bummer. Hope they add a ton more foliage. It just looks like skinny palms tress everywhere/ bare bones. No big lush tropical trees/shade

I agree- I hope they add the spires.
It'll be interesting to see what Univerasal does this winter during some downtime with things like that and Honu.

Regarding the foliage; however, keep in mind these are brand new plantings. What looks somewhat sparse now will take on a whole new life two-three years from now. Just look at what typhoon lagoon and animal kingdom used to be- vs the rich foliage they have today.
This water park wasn't built just for 2017- it was built for the next 30 years.

Everything about these reports just makes it even more apparent to me to avoid the park until a later date.

Slightly off topic but every day for the last year I have looked forward to waking up, looking for construction updates, hearing peoples guesses and inside info helping figure out what is being constructed where etc and then the small debates too but the last 20-30 pages since most of the construction has started coming to an end has been painful to read. Its good everyone is different and shares different opinions but some people really are never happy. Ah well I'm not a local so I won't be here every week and maybe I appreciate this Brand new park more because I live in the UK where water parks are nonexistent, Universal have created something that looks fantastic. I work in the construction industry and never did a construction project ever go 100% without problems, material issues or time/funding issues. Hopefully see some of you over at the STL thread for a couple years of construction. Enjoy VB

Normally, they have maximum height requirements like on Disney's Typhoon Lagoon
Ketchakiddee Creek
Guest Must Be
48in (122cm) or shorter
However, on Universal's webpage they simply say they are "designed":
Please note that Runamukka Reef™ is designed for children under 48” (122cm) tall.
Please note that Tot Tiki Reef™ is designed for children under 48” (122cm) tall.

So maybe it's just a suggested height thing for those?

Having little kids (the youngest of which will be turning 4 during our trip there in September)- I never mind adults on those things. They're reasonable, responsible and generally look where they're going. Its the unattended 10-14 year old boys that are going ape-Shite that don't look who they're running over that I can't stand and why I typically prefer enforced height rules. With the exception of older siblings that are responsibly helping their younger ones- those kids are always nice and I can't think of a single time they were wild- just helpful.

If they have a max requirement- you can come in September and borrow my littlest so you can go on and play. Just don't be surprised if I don't show back up to get her until after the volcano show. :p

Does Noah's Ark still have the Shoot-The-Chutes? Always thought that was such a great thing to have in a waterpark.

Yep, and I still have a photo somewhere. the fact that the left the blanks for a later date was a dead give away even before we knew what it was. In hindsight they should have left 2 or 3 more blanks :)

Okay cool. Let's move onto the fact that there's still a ton of stuff to plant and we're scheduled for some nasty looking weather for the rest of the week. Wonder what the plan of action is at this point?

Nah I just need them to plant some more trees/bamboo and get the state to approve their water slides. Not much to ask at this point ;)

I don't remember where I read it, but Disney and Universal can basically self-certify their rides. Typically the manufacturer inspects the ride, so it offers more flexibility and thoroughness than having to wait on state inspectors.

I agree. The former Blastaway Beach (WnW) did not have a maximum height restriction, which I really liked. I went in there occasionally.

Think I've seen that as well. I live in south FL and I know they have inspectors before a fair opens, but it is because those are temporary structures, I think the more permanent stuff has different laws...or maybe it is a big boys of Orlando exception.
