I'm quite curious what this super-secret new thing inside the volcano is going to be..

And i was a fan of the whole Universal Escape thing, but can see why it just became the Universal Orlando resort. IOA got screwed by the market and events around its opening - it was never a "bad" park.

I went to IOA either right before or around the grand opening. The park was really awesome and there's some bits that still havent come back since the cost cutting occured after the market dive.

DCA however.. that was a mess and justifiably disliked.

Yeah IOA's performance was a mix of bad marketing, 9/11 and tourism decline..It is still my favorite park however...Which leads to this project, It will be interesting to see what they have learned from their marketing failures in the past

As for the volcano ride, I'm expecting a water coaster with special effects (aka Master Blaster with cool lighting)

That was my point though was bad marketing.

Maybe the whole "Third Park" thing is genius, but the way I see it is if tourists can't even tell DHS and USF apart, are they really going to know that "Park 3" is a water park? They may not even figure that out until after they've bought the non-refundable tickets.

Like I said, maybe it's genius. But it also has a chance to blow up in their face if they don't play it right.

It's the basic three steps to marketing: Some will know exactly what it is, some will somewhat know what it is, some will not know what it is...I know there are still people that learn there are two parks at Universal upon arrival, they upgrade their tickets there...You can only do so much to get the word out...Partially why you see ads for Universal parks at the Universal parks...They don't have the luxury of 'been there done that' like Disney

Overheard outside Diagon last week...

"Why is everyone walking through that wall? Let's go see what's in there!"

At least they were willing and observant enough to look.

Years ago, we passed about 5 signs saying "Disney Hollywood Studios", a car in front of us asked it they arrived at Universal Studios... I'm always surprised some people are able to earn 10.000$ to spend on a vacation but are to stupid to know where they are. You can't blame a company for stupid people.

Universal said this park will have bars and restaurants throughout the park. Will Vulcano Bay transforms in an entertainment district at night? Closed for swimming but a stunning environment to eat, drink and relax. It would speak to me as someone who doesn't do waterparks.

I would love to have my park memory wiped and walk through that wall again.

I went around and checked out the construction the other day, and this caught my eye, might be the beginning of work on the entrance tunnel underneath Adventure Way.

Going to be interesting to see how they build this without closing the road.

Would be nice if they really ran a tram rather than a bus and it went under the road and dropped you at the entrance then did a round about and back under to the parking.

Definitely not what they meant. Some water parks do tend to have most of their eateries located at the front of the park. They were talking about spreading them around for convenience purposes.

I know it's early, but I really hope they add a lot of trees and foilage along the borders. Would be kinda crappy to be waiting for that slide and see great theme to the left, and Turkey Lake Road to the right.

I can see them adding a wall similar to what surrounds Dragon Challenge.

I wouldn't worry, 80' Washington Palms, other trees and bamboo on the berm will take care of most of that. But even if it doesn't, think of the lift view on DC. It ain't pretty, regardless of the wall.

I'm sure they'll do something, but I think blocking all bad sightlines from guest view is impossible. I mean, I expect you'll likely be able to see I-4 from Krakatau.

They can wall off the entire launch area with bamboo sticks or what have you. There is a solution to every problem that seems a problem. Otherwise, if there is no solution deemed necessary they won't do a thing about it. It's just the way it is.
