I mean yea, that’s how all theme parks work… parking lots still fill up too.

Used to seeing parking lots filled up to at least half on any given day, so Epic Universe barely getting a 1/3 of the lot filled in is interesting. That image bio took on opening day was shocking.

Considering they sold packages first and foremost pushing this park I could see there being a larger proportion of resort guests over off site guests.

Well....The current wait times at least seem more in line with what was expected for a brand new park

Agreed. Today's wait times are the highest they've been so far. And Ministry is also being pretty unreliable today along with Monsters...

Looks like Ministry and Monsters have been down basically all day. Rest of the park is getting choked out. Ministry in particular sucks up so much capacity that it really hurts the overall park when it’s down.

With Ministry and Monsters both down at the same time this morning, the other attraction stand by lines ballooned. That's one of the problems with brand new parks. They're generally on the short side with number of rides.

It's also tough that two of the three biggest people-eaters (Monsters and Ministry) are prone to downtime (at least so far). If Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean had similar reliability issues, Magic Kingdom would be a tough(er) park to navigate.

This worries me. It lined up with a planned trip though so we rolled the dice. :clover:

Hopefully the brunt of Memorial Day week attendance will subside a bit by Friday, even at Epic. All of Universal has been slammed the past 5 or 6 days. ....But one of the unfortunate keys is if both Ministry and Monsters are running OK.

I have a feeling that these crowds won't stop. If anything, they'll just get worse.

For one, Saturday is 'always' slammed at Universal, even during the slow seasons. Sometimes Friday sneaks through OK., hopefully for @Skold ...But yes, it's going to be a busy June at Universal now that they're not as protective of showing the park with short lines. Rest of the summer is probably still up in the air. Probably depends how aggressively, and easy to purchase, they do their Epic ticket marketing. Universal kind of concentrated their ticket sales on the first 4 or 5 weeks for that guest segment that wants to be first for new stuff.. Now they need to up their game for the rest of the year.

Apparently the park is about 4000 over the projected attendance today. Either everyone used their non date specific multi day ticket the same day or more people are getting wise to being able to buy day of tickets.

But we don't really know the 'true' max or projected numbers. The info source most often cited is incomplete by their own admittance. Plus even Universal doesn't know what actual day a package deal will use for Epic, let alone a third party site. So these talks about daily ceilings are really not measurable. My guess is that Universal is making more tickets available and easier to purchase through the hotel ticket stands and the park entrance.

While this is true MK is whole different ballgame with several more attractions that absorb people than Epic.

Could it be that folks are still parking at the main campus and taking the bus from Citywalk to epic? Is there even a bus that goes between the two?

There is bus transportation, but I don't think that's the case.

If people are showing up at the main campus, not knowing Epic is somewhere else, they have a major problem.

Not sure I’d call any of these criticisms “Epic Fails”, but when you need clicks to pay the bills…

https://www.orlandoweekly.com/arts/epic-fails-three-areas-that-need-serious-work-at-universal-orlandos-epic-universe-39611252?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwKkQtxleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHktnS5FyzItdRv7DiOJKjsSKL_1Om_uj7eqJTG4EZMyrmiHl-Y9ATVEvCHqv_aem_msGFlbfxD0PvWo9DOggnTA

The “fails”:
The steps and accessibility— everything is fully accessible and ADA compliant. Yes there are steps, it’s a theme park. If it helps to keep the scores of ECVs from coming, add more steps please!

The shade— the other Orlando parks also lack shade. Any new park will take time for the trees to fill in.

Small number of attractions— on paper there are just 11, but there is so much more to the park than that.

The article actually makes the same points I do arguing against its own clickbait title.

I really don’t think it’s a good look to recommend ways to discourage disabled people from attending theme parks.
